Over the last few days PVP

There is now a skill gap between people who just do PVP to level up alt jobs and people who really love PVP and have taken the time to understand the new move set.

This skill gap has made it imbalanced.


Also as a WHM, I feel I have no Identity in PVP while playing WHM.
2 cures and an AOE heal don't feel like I'm a healer.

They made PvP a damage based content. You are DPS that CAN do healing abilities. DPS is priority. Heal is your secondary.

I dabbled with all the healers a bit this season

sch and ast felt more healer/support oriented
whm and sge felt more dps oriented

primarily because sch and ast heals are insta cast while whm and sge have to deal with cast bars

I wouldn't say that whm lacks an identity in pvp though it's just not a strong healer identity for sure
it's a scurry freaking laser beam turret with a nasty debuff that transforms ppl to ruin their day

How can someone love this thing seriously...

The real pvp fans left when there was the big pvp update in heavensward that made everyone equal just to give a chance to casuals or people who are lazy...

When pvp required the player to be level 50 and you could use all your attacks and combine them with other classes and you had a materia system for pvp it was interesting because you could be unique in your way of fighting

SE has completely taken away all our efforts to focus on casuals who don't have time to learn how to fight

So it really makes me laugh when I read the messages saying that the new pvp system is technical and requires effort

EVERYONE HAS BECOME THE SAME, we have the same life points and the same skills, we have all become pseudo dps of course some classes are stronger just like that, tanks have almost become useless
There is nothing to learn and no possibility to evolve in short a huge joke and a shame if only they would remove this infamy to add more content in hardcore pve

Healers don't "heal" in the new pvp. They're glorified Support.

Everyone has a spammable heal and is responsible for their OWN health.

You should see Sage, you get no heals directly, it's all done through the Kardia buff, and you have to deal damage to heal anyone. Pretty much you just slap it on yourself, and ignore the rest of the party.

You shouldn't look at healers as a role like in PvE. PvP is all about team coordination and killing the opponent. Healers in PvP is more about efficiently timed heals and buffs/debuffs as a support job. Everyone is responsible between their own HP - which is why you don't necessarily need healers to win fights. However, they are a nice addition when you're fighting against players of similar skill level and the extra support makes the difference between dying to a burst or surviving and beating the enemy up.

If we had healers who can heal infinitely, who needs DPS jobs when DPS can't kill anyone due to the existence of a healer?

Incredibly easy way to just get attacked last while me and others just cut away at your allies you should Kardia -> Eukrasia for.

for the pvp system to even have a chance to thrive they made the right choice in capping it at level 30 with unique pvp kits

whether or not it was more fun or less fun then "back in mah day" when we had access to full pve kits, continuing to balance for full pve kits in pvp would have been even more difficult than balancing the limited pvp kits they use now (which they're still having issues balancing)

then there's the issue of how do they account for increasing level caps if they kept full pve kits? I see one of two options and neither are ideal
One, they could allow pvp queue at a lower level and sync everyone up to 90, but then low level players would be getting a load of new skills on their hotbars they're unfamiliar with and wouldn't know how to properly use
Two, they restrict pvp queue'ing to max level. However this seems like a bad idea when taking into account recent survey data done by luckybancho where according to their metrics barely half the "active" playerbase has even started EW So requiring max level to queue would be whittling down the players interested in pvp to a fraction of a fraction

Then there's a bunch of other stuff that is your usual bad take but I guess that's just like your opinion or whatever
except for the part about the about the life points being the same (they're different job to job) the skills being the same (please show me how you stun on DRK or how you place a shield on your allies on WAR) and the part about tanks being useless since PLD WAR and DRK can all be especially nasty in the right hands of players that actually understand how their kits work when applied to the objective of pushing the crystal and even GNB can be dangerous if ppl aren't prepared to deal with it's LB

You can pull off quite of bit of healing as a WHM in the current toolset, however to do so you won't be spamming heals, as your strongest heals are tied to do damage such as Seraph Strike or your LB. Those can add up to a lot of healing however as your LB fills up quite quickly.

Your unique identity as such is tied to your (among other things) LB as well as your unique utility skills - you have your own unique CC that can be extremely useful and you can look at that as a life-saver. However, in PVP you are a strong support - not a heal-bot. Each healer though (at least for me) feels different in PVP, maybe you will like another one better- however they are all "support".

Regarding the skill gap that you mention? In any game in which skill changes occur in either PVE or PVP, there will always be people who won't take the time to read about the changes. If that really bothers you in this game- for example in ranked CC - then what could help is the ability to form pre-mades. I don't think that's in the plans.

Yeah they completely jacked up pvp with the changes. Hopefully they realize this soon and change it back.

There's always has and always will be a skill gap between people who do a lot of PvP and those who don't.
Not sure why that would come as a surprise to anyone.

Why, of course. I think this is pretty true for any game modes built around pitting a player against one another. While it can be made easy to understand how to play said game mode, if you pit newcomer or those who don't put a lot effort into it against a veteran who invested their time, they are going to get obliterated.

You do. You are a healer with utility and a short, large damage burst to help your team to turn the tide to your favor. You just can't fix other's stupid like you used to in pre 6.1 which honestly wasn't even an identity to WHM alone because they were all too similar back then: spam heal to outheal 3+ DPSes. Maybe even 5 if your target was using their Medical Kits regularly.

Most classes in PVP have more identity then PVE to my view but thats just me

It can be annoying if you try to focus on saving people but your not a healing babysitter try to break out of that mentality

LoL In early 6.1 I would say yeah just do that SGE was amazing but if your dumb enough to keep doing that now Im worried you don't get far with that mentality
Kardia is to be juggled not stationary but by all means put it on yourself and see how far you can carry

In conclusion...

SKILL ISSUE.

Don't get how the PvP team hasn't learned anything from years of running Fold/Feast. Every time they make changes that improve the modes slightly and then axe the mode completely and then rework PvP again from start using 0 of the previous knowledge they got from all these years of PvP :p Why can't they just keep improving one thing instead scrapping it and starting all over every 2 expansions

I wouldn't say they aren't learning from their experience
the changes they've made to kits and roles for CC address a lot of the things I saw ppl complain about with the Feast

Primarily with the Healer being the critical make or break member of a team
(there's a reason why win traders mostly queue'd as healers back in Feast)

Whatever are you talking about, I enjoy TF2 3.0! Besides, the game has a lot of concerning things that need to be addressed. At the very least, the PvP versions of each class feels a lot more unique than their PvE counterparts. What a strange development, lol.
