Please release more wards

As much as we all want a permanent solution, until we hear word from the XIV team on how they intend to solve the entire housing issue so almost everyone can be happy with it (if that day ever comes) Many of us would like to know if there will ever be a real fix for housing and if Island Sanctuaries will eventually have a house?

For the time being, when will new wards be opened up? It will give people a chance again to snag a plot and with the current fc ward and private ward alignment. Please consider adding new wards soon- I'm not talking about potential new house wards like a Sharlayan or Crystarium ward, just more open plots made available to players.

As it stands, there is no demolition timer so unless someone is willing to transfer, there are hardly any available houses now in populated servers- there are people who years later are still waiting to get their own private plot. The amount of people now trying to get a plot seems much more than originally back when folks would placard click.

Apartments need to be updated by being given larger item storage and placement, as well as a greenhouse/balcony yard thing for gardening for those who want it (I do gardening, so I would want it) and some type of workshop. Also, I would like it if players that had apartments could add a roommate/ shared apartment.
Adding larger apartments was discussed at some point during the stormblood expansion, but when will it be discussed again and implemented?

Many of us have asked for years for some form of an actual fix, rather than a band-aid which is all we have gotten. I'm aware housing was intended for FC's only, but that's not the case so there's no real point in discussing it.

Sorry if this seems narrow minded or rude, as it's not intended- I was just trying to be direct and compile my thoughts into what I've seen and read as far as what most people here are asking for.

Remove grandfathering and the ability for people to put 1 house and 1 fc per server, tonnes of people abuse the feature, or have been grandfathered.

While not unheard of to get more wards later in an expansion, it's far more likely we won't get more until next expansion.

They are releasing new wards. Just on the new data center, not on your current server.

Personally, I’d rather SE release awesome permanent instanced housing, and keep the wards with permanent auto-demo to ensure that the players using them are active.

The main issue is that Wards needs to be permanently loaded by the server, houses and all.

Adding more Wards places more strain on the server, and past a certain point, you start running into stability issues. If SE could add a thousand Wards tomorrow, they absolutely would, because the devs are sick of players complaining about housing.

The fundamental problem everyone overlooks with their fantasies of 'Instanced Housing' this or whatever other fancy they've invented, is the simple truth that the playerbase is too crowded together. Endwalker already proved this with the horrendous queue times, especially as NA hasn't had new servers since before Heavensward, and EU's still crowded despite the 4 new servers we just got.

What the game fundamentally needs is more player servers outside of JP. NA likely needs double the current server capacity minimum, and EU could do with a noticeable increase as well.

EU will be getting a new data center with 8 worlds next year. That should bring their average population fairly close to the JP average population.

Their expansion announcement back in January did say with respect to NA

Instanced housing itself truly is not a problem. A player can only be in one instance at a time. If a player isn't in an instance, it's not taking up memory on the instance servers. If SE is confident enough that their servers can handle Duty Support, solo duties, Island Sanctuary, etc. (outside of the occasional glitch), there should be no problem with instanced housing.

These places also has static furniture only, meaning you can't do any changes either.

Instanced housing isn't a fantasy, it's a basic feature that takes less resources than the stupid ward system.

Housing interiors are already instanced and we can move things around in them so that's irrelevant.

Every lottery-week leads to more anger and frustration within the community. As it gets worse, maybe it will get loud enough for Square to at least issue a statement about why they can't invest more into their own game to give players the home ownership they advertised.
Frankly, a statement from Square is the only thing I'll accept at this point. Well meaning people can give reasonable guesses as to why Square can't add more wards, and maybe it'll even be based on some old translated interview from 5 years ago or something, but reading it is a bit like watching a customer stand up for WalMart or something. Let the company that takes your money every month speak for itself. Square's a big boy; this is literally the least they can do.

That's a good example of what's wrong with community reaction. Take the lottery away, go back to FCFS, and everyone will still be angry because they still won't have a house. For most of them, their chance of ever getting one would drastically reduce because they're not interested in placard camping.

It's not the lottery that's at fault. It's the lack of supply that makes the lottery necessary in the first place that is causing the problem.

As long as people complain about the lottery, SE is going to think it's the lottery that people want changed. People need to be talking about the supply because that is what needs to be changed.

The development is smart enough to know what this is not a lottery problem, but a supply one don't worry about it :)

It's been for years that people ask for more ward, bigger apartment or instance (before lottery appears). So SE already known that the solution was not good enough even before releasing it. But I think that, with the data they had, this solution is better than
the previous one :)

We must continue to talk about it and be more precise as you say. They will not add more ward easily due to the cost. If it was cheap it would be done for years as this solution has no impact on the game itself and is the simplest one.

Which will never change because either due to actual hardware and server limitation or the developers pride (wanting that neighborhood feel even though I can walk through to every house in a ward and maybe see 2 people). Broken system that keeps getting band aid fixes while the players fight over literal scraps of what could be a great housing system. Now we are at the point where if you want a house you need to bend over backwards and server transfer or make a shell fc and abandon your current one to even stand a chance at a small let alone the pipe dream of something larger. But all our complaining and critiquing will not turn into actual results for years at which point SE has already made their profit from subs.

Lets do the maths.
5 housing districts, 24 wards, 60 plots per ward - that is 7,400 houses.
That isn't even 5% of a single servers population. And then you'd have 6-8 servers on each data center, which means about 56,000 houses.
And you're talking a million people playing across all data centers, so you'd be lucky enough to get a quarter of players with their own house, and if more people play the game, it will drop.
I'd love to own my own house, and yet an apartment or a room in FC is the best we can get - so basically a council house if you think about it.

Mateus has 0 open plots, at least 0 of which are available for bidding. Sorry but I am not happy about the housing situation. I pay a subscription just like anyone else, and part of the game is unavailable to me because there are no houses available for purchase. I have the gil, in fact I have ample gil to not only buy a large, but a small and medium too. What am I supposed to do with all my gil? I don't need anything if I can't own a house. I'm sick of housing being used as part of the lure of the game. Be honest... take it out of your ads because it is simply something no new player will ever achieve. And I think what frustrates me the most is the people who are grandfathered in and able to own multiple houses or in some instances an entire ward. Either upgrade the system so you can add more wards, or figure out something else, or better still reopen the entire aspect of losing your home if you haven't entered it in 45 days. All in all, this experience is turning me off playing FFXIV, especially since there are many other games out there that offer housing and have it done right.

You pay to have access to the Servers. Nothing more.

If you want some suggestions about spending your gil. Buy the Golden Namazu Mount or throw gil onto some Sprouts who started the game recently. At least you wont feel so miserable to bother about housing anymore and you will make a few players happy or find new friends along the way.

Hmmm housing is the only feature in the game that you cannot access without needing to rely on RNG. No other feature in the game is inaccessible to any player willing to put in ample time and effort. Why are you seemingly defending this broken system when every player should be able to get a house. Are the houses supposed to be artificially scarce? Do they need to have property values in case you sell the house or just for some inane sense of "f you I got mine" on the account of people who already have houses.

SE certainly needs to take out the housing from their advertisements- Because someone coming in expecting some easy house buying process that they may be used to in any other game that has it, will be met with disappointment when they find out how it's all RNG, that there are also people who own entire wards, that there are also "fake" (aka: shell) FC's were made just to get a house, and that there is no way to get a house because the demolition timer was turned off.

Housing being optional content, but that doesn't mean it should be limited availability & most of the player base locked out of it- we pay to have access to this game so we can experience all it has to offer- not be cut out due to 'small-indie-game-no money's' short sightedness or unwillingness to make improvements to optional or side content.

If they would finally give us instanced housing, I would dump my ward house without blinking. We don't need more wards; we need instanced housing added alongside the pre-existing ward system as an alternative.

But as we all know stubborn will do what they want to do even if it's a detriment to the game they claim to love so much. I mean, look around lol

IMO the ward system as it stands today is just a bit too inflexible. Every world has the exact same number of wards. Provide enough wards to cover the demand in Balmung or Mateus and there will be vacant houses on the less populated servers. The ward implementation itself requires enough computing and storage resources that they need to add additional hardware to expand.

If they want to continue adding new wards I think they need to rewrite the ward system to be more dynamic so that different worlds can have different numbers of wards.

Im not defending it. Your assumptions of a correlation between a subscription based payment model and access to certain ingame features is simply wrong.

Ok Se heres what ya do..

YOU deco the front yards and make each house door have 10 difernt zones of the inside of the house so 10 people live in each house (Its done in eq2 many more then 10 and you even get a open roof looking down on the main city)

Doing take takes your 7,200 houses per server to 72,000 plenty for Fc and characters on the server

I would like the wand skins to be able to also skin over staffs

Bumping this thread because everyone deserves housing. Secondly private houses should have access to a workshop so players can generate more gil for themselves.
