thats hilarious
they moved to costa bc it was blocked. i was minding my own business when they all rushed it lol
Well, I've visited it with my alts and it's... still ongoing. So many people at the Mist beach...
It was amazing
Trolls are quite annoying, but they're nothing in comparison to some people who actually believe they're correct.
A lot of people spent all that time leading up to it pretending to be shocked and outraged and offended on behalf of the entire RP community writing up thesis's and twitlongers about how it was the worst idea in the world, all just to show up and be seen shuffling to the Party House Anthem song at 3 in the morning on a twitch stream with thousands of other viewers watching at a party so packed, it was too congested for people to even get in.
Were the concerns valid? Oh yes, absolutely! But did they matter? No, they did not.
Next time just skip the wall to wall text posts about you are a lawyer or you know a lawyer and just say you're a fan and you'll be there. Lol.
For those who were there, I'm curious. About what percentage of the crowd was Travelers?
For those who play on Balmung, what was the impact of the event outside of the event area? I avoided Balmung last night but had no problem with world visit to other Crystal worlds (same as Tuesday when the "Balmung blockade" was going on). Seems like the impact of travel load is mostly localized to the world instead of the data center.
Balmung has always been the capital, and therefore, people can't get enough of it.
I visited a few servers to see friends on Crystal yesterday, including Balmung, and didn't run into any issues. Though I heard later that people could go to other servers on Crystal but Balmung specifically was congested and couldn't be traveled to. Though I left Balmung around when the event started so I have no idea how bad it got. Getting back to Aether however was a 15 minute process.
Sure, if you visited on the morning or early afternoon, there were no problems.
But if you attempted to go into balmung after 8p EST, you had up to 2h travel queues. I left balmung at around 2am Central, and tried to return and there was a 30 min wait queue to travel.
I had a lot of fun with the event. I'm glad I went.
I was there. It was my first time to any club in the game.
Regardless of what stance you took with them advertising. One thing is for certain, it did what it was meant to do, right or wrong. It brought in the crowd.
I traveled from Aether to Crystal. Traveling to Blamung was shut down, so I went to Mateus and world traveled from there, which took me a good 40 minutes to get into Balmung. And 3 tries to zone into Mist and then the ward after that.
I estimate the majority were either wanderers or travelers, but a lot of locals too. All in all it was fun and I personally had fun with it. Would I go back? Probably not. I just wanted to experience what will be remembered for a long time to tell you the truth.
at least this showed that even if people are trying to dog pile on one server, logging in isn't affected much. i logged out multiple times and my queue was at most 35 people. im glad people enjoyed the event though!
Just goes to show there's no such thing as bad PR.
As in visiting from other DCs? I'd wager about a quarter or so, but it was extremely hard to tell because load distance was shot and it was like being in a virtual mosh pit most of the time. Travelers + Wanderers made up no less than half of the crowd, probably even higher.
Wanderers would be expected, there's been a lot of world visit going on for the various nightclubs on the data center for the past 2 years.
I was more interested in the Travelers because it shows how effective the publicity stunt was. I doubt that there would have been many non-Crystal players attending otherwise.
I heard the event was an overwhelming success. Most of the important influences were there and despite people trolling, most people had fun and made friends. People were asking Rain to host another event by its end.
From what I noticed it was about 50/50 on visitors and natives to the server. I made a point to camp out there the night before cause I knew there would be issues loading in for people who did not. I loaded in in about 2 minutes while others took about an hour.
It was a lot of fun though. Here's a short list of some notable things that happened...
1. I hung out with a corpse for a bit who was floating in the ocean. I think it was corpse...or maybe Blitzball confirmed?
2. Catgirl warned others to not mate with catgirls until they are dewormed. She then proceeded to open trade and gave me a Plump Worm.
3. Konga Lines for days.
4. They had dance lines for every race. ( Of course I was near the Au Ra line cause those women get the blood flowing )
5. Dance parties in every direction...if you can even call it a dance party if everyone is doing Bees Knees. I wanted to Walk the Dinosaur but that is not an option so Manderville Mambo it is.
6. Loads of groups of people to just talk with.
This just in: the whole thing was a set-up by SE to do stress tests without telling us they're doing stress tests.
I'll see myself out.
No one spends that much on Billboard ad spots unless they think they have something to gain financially; whatever fun people may or may not have had at the event- someone was intending to make money off of this event; some food for thought.
The stunt may have garnered some interest, but probably not enough to have justified the billboard. There were other events happening on Crystal last weekend. It seems to be a little more active in that regard. I went over to check out the Aquarium on Malboro. They seemed to be very popular and their success could actually be measured. I saw plenty of tweets about that and an all elezen event, but nothing about rain.
We goes there with some friends around 12:30ish (EST) and it takes about 5-6 min to gets over, then another few to gets into the event, which by that time was jus all over the ward, mostly on the beach though. Someone tells us about the Lala tunnel, so we hangs out there for awhile, then jus wandered around, hasing fun with others.
Around 5:00-5:30 we see's people gathering doing group pictures, so we joins in...

Then we says our goodbyes and come home. All in all it was a fun time.
They didn't quote the wrong person, more specifically sarcastically replying to this.

Yep. Totally dead event. No one showed. No effects on servers or que times at all.
Tbh I literally forgot all about it. I had legit rp to do and most club rps are... Eh? Rare is it actual roleplayers at events like that so going in hopes of actual cool ic interacts was pointless. Glad to read the people who went had fun though. Like genuinely
I will say while I hope the damage from the billboard is minimal, I doubt nothing will happen. If nothing else this was a pretty flagrant rule break on several levels so I imagine even if not immediate, there will be consequences. Like the Modding community is getting increasingly dumb about things and Square Enix will only look the other way for so long.
