Trends taken from where?
And here are the trends since the game's inception showing the same dips/rises. In fact if we take this as a measure of success (which it likely isn't), listening less to the community has only given them higher rates of interest. In any case, I doubt they're going to start caring when they've gone through the same thing in prior years.

Looks like Google Trends, specifically the United States playerbase over the last 12 months.

Welcome to mmos?
Expansion launch, peak interest, players that aren't the dedicated fanbase go back to their seasonal games and return again for patches
Like i have my issues with the game rn mostly on a job design level but you really don't understand how things work
:D
Okay - the two posts previous win the Internets for the month!
Worldwide is a better metric as US players are a small part of the player base

The interest in the game has been the highest between 2.0 and 3.0 launch
Overall interest has been declining ever since the HS launch so it is quite the opposite in fact.Quote:

The ups between 5.0 and 6.0 were caused by Blizard's lawsuit and streamers like Asmongold. The game is not in a good state.

Just posting this again so that people who immediately go to the last page of any thread get to see :)
Huh, comparing "Final Fantasy XIV" and "Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn" Korea for some reason have higher trend in the latter search...
Do they have a Vanilla/1.0 private server up and running? <.<
"Men on-edge" KEKW.
This happens every expansion. We have huge population between X.5 patch and X.05 patch. Then during X.1-X.4 the population drops off. Many people only play during the expansion period and then wait until the expansion is about to come out to catch back up.
Oh another dumb thread like this from the same person.
But if you call him out on it you're the '' white knight '' lol.
They are listening to the community that's why we're getting Savage Criterion dungeons, now go away.
I am honestly convinced at this point that we have madge WoW stans who are just here to troll at this point...
Legit just feel bad for the OP. 6:30 in the morning and this Karen has nothing better to do than post troll threads on FF14 forums. It's pretty sad this is how OP gets attention
Which can be because players did not want to change DC yet, a lot of players build a group of friends. And for many oceania players, those friends would be on the NA DC. Changing DC then would prevent you from playing with them.
Even when now they can go to the new DC and travel back to the NA DC, they might still not do that, since in the end, if they would be on the oceania DC, they most of the time still need to DC travel. This can cause very inflated numbers on the NA DC.
In short, the statement that the NA DC represents the US, is most likely just false (and note, other DCs might also still have inflated numbers, but as the NA servers very likely also have SA included in them, you can be quite sure that SA is another big reason for inflated numbers).
Most of us aren't searching for FFXIV in a search engine on a daily basis. We're searching for something specific, and when we do find it, we bookmark it so we don't have to search any more.
I imagine that a number of us don't even use Google for searching in the first place ...
Hi Titanmen! :D
anyway another thoughtless thread about playerbase!!!metric!!!!
Baseless.
According to Lucky Bancho data over the game's history, the active characters during patch lulls (which is a good estimate of permanent subscribers) has grown by 200,000 every expansion. This expansion it has had at least double that. Where it used to float around 600,000, now it floats over a million.
Well this thread sure aged badly ;)
This is the post expansion dip it happens every year since I have been playing. The problem is the hardcore users think its because they won't make the game harder like FFXIV 1.0. lol
If they added in unique features like player instanced housing you might get some people to come back and pay real money for the feature
Good, follow the example of these trends, stop playing the game and leave the forums.
Do your part, fellow Internet Warrior!

OP is a troll, 2nd post today with tasteless bashing of the game. No real evidence just smoke.
I know what NA stands for. I never claimed NA is just the USA. You're the one who said US players are a small metric.
But in reality NA (which stands for North America and includes more than just the USA considering it's a whole continent and not a country) has double the players of EU and quite a bit more than JP. So no, US is not a small metric considering a big part of that number is from the USA. You should really look stuff up before citing random nonsense. At least use publicly available resources such as: https://ffxivcensus.com/ It's very disingenuous to claim such things.
..which has already been confirmed to have incomplete data..I might also add that it registers CHARACTERS not actual players.Quote:

One is not the other. Only SE knows how many actual players there are vs how many characters.
Yes, it uses characters that have gotten the final endwalker story minion and mount. Which is a pretty good metric to use since most people don't make those private or even edit their lodestone. It's also the only numbers we have since SE doesn't provide numbers. It's not perfect but it paints a better picture than you, the person I responded to, or I could claim to portray.
