I had a hunch this was going to become a problem because while the Echo scaling gets really intense with low player counts, the HP on the tank does NOT get scaled up so it's still going to be taking massive amounts of damage from the stack AoEs in smaller groups which effectively gives you less time to kill the boss.
I have an alt who needs note 17 to complete haven't been back to see how things are but not surprised it's a problem. Don't they normally nerf hard older content when the new relic hits although they haven't really said much about that yet or when it's coming.
I didn't find health much of an issue, but the DPS gain you get from the echo was far too low for very small groups.
With 4 people in Castrum, we could not defeat both bosses before the Tunnel Armor fell.
Managed to 2-man the first boss in Delibrum Reginae, which took 20 minutes. We decided to stop because we doubted we could beat the final DPS check on the Queen's Guard.
With 4 people, we ran out of time while fighting Cuchulainn. We made the mistake of sending 2 people to the top at the first part of the dungeon when we should of only sent 1, but it was still very slow. I'm kind of curious if we could even continue after that since you need 4 people to stand on the button to open the doors on the sides.
Best thing I can suggest is to put up a Party Finder and hope you can find 8 people that need it.
Did all of you doing it with low player counts have essences?
I was curious as to what would become of bozja dungeons since both of them werent in the roulette.
And yeah from memory essences were stupidly overpowered so i assume you ll need to farm them again to do said dungeons but if there's no dungeons or healers it might be impossible as dps
You can sort of skip using essences if you grind Zadnor for max buffs, but the essences are still easier to get and probably better, yeah. They tried to do the Eureka treatment on Bozja and they did make it possible to grind relics outside of it, but unfortunately they kind of forgot about the fact people need Castrum.
It IS possible to do it with very minimal amount of players. But what people often do not realize is depending on your job, you may also need to do some out of the box essences pairings, have decent stacks of rays, and using LAs combinations or swapping especially on some sore encounter points to have a decent clear time comparing to your 'generic undermanned runs'.
EDIT: Didn't they already added lost cache box in CLL entrance as well? If so then it'll make 2-man run way easier because people can always run back to resupply themselves with the actions. I.e. stacking buffs to clear first boss DPS check quickly, loading themselves with lots and lots of Lost Deaths (and assassination for melee?) for prisoner rescue phase, and using 'duel setup' for whoever's dealing with Lyon.
OP I'm literally doing the ShB Relic just now on my alt character and having no issues with CLL if you're implying Bozja being dead or something. There's constantly a good healthy amount of players in the zone, at least on my server.
Besides the Bozja raids are fun imo
We went in with 12 people, used essences but the armor died before we could down both bosses.
I would still like to see them use the Eureka solution and allow us to use mettle to buy our way around CLL, they need a more long term solution... or... add NPCs to help like trusts.
Im on Materia.... even during Prime time im the only person in there.... I really feel like lots of content in this game needs a 'failsafe' system for when you need it but nobody's interested (Even with using party finder to try form a group, its worthless on Materia most of the time).
8-12 players was the standard size of generic undermanned run before the echo was added. If this was what happened in your run, I’m inclined to think it is more of players’ specific problem than the scaling.
Armor dying first usually means not enough DPS on bottom party, letting the tank get hit by the fire resistance debuff tethers, too many weaknesses/brink of death from dying, poor essences & LAs choice, poor DPS spread (I.e. you can have top with only 3 players but still kill their boss faster than the 9 players on bottom part) or combination of those factors.
WE NEED to have this buffed in a way that anyone can run it. Another issue with the castrum is that it is on a stupid timer instead of an instance. It's so weird that they made the Dalirada an instanced run, but not the other two in its group. I don't know why they went back on it TWICE.
Eureka's raid should also be adjusted to be a party thing as well so that anyone can queue for it at any given time.
Even when relevant it was quite literally faster to clear Castrum with 6 good players (at the time that was the minimum possible due to buttons) than with a full group of your average Bozjan Mouthbreathers. The echo is absolutely massive and outweighs extra bodies once you are even mildly competent.
Use decent lost actions, use an essence (a useful one, not some trash like platebearer) and press buttons. And actually stand still for Pyretic. Trust me, it's not that hard.
As others have said, proper essence use has and always will be the difference maker here. Before the echo buff, you could evenly split your groups for the first fight and one section would kill faster due to an imbalance of people with essences.
They should add CLL and Dal to queues like DR is, maybe eventually allow people to queue up for the Duels too if the zones are dead.
BA is done pretty much with Discord and is still pretty popular judging by pings I get daily. I suspect the best way to get this done if you're looking for a clear is to join a discord for your region and I suspect they have daily if not multiple runs of CCL every day. When i get my leveling under control with all my me's I'll probably start to look into it. I wouldn't mind seeing note drops nerfed but I suspect that's not going to happen.
TBH CLL sometimes was an issue for ppl before Endwalker as well. However IMO it wasn't CLL itself being a progression blocker at that time. It was the other players in the instance because of it being populated almost entirely by people that refused to do it because "it's not the best exp per hour" or people waiting around specifically for the fates that activate duels.
