What do you even call this at this point when people with -30% win ratios are in Crystal? I thought Ranks were supposed to be an indicator of skill? I'm at 164 victories at this point.

I call it ice-cold insanity.
That means 273 matches, 163 wins, 110 loses.
Worse case scenario for no ranking up is that u never had a lose at the bottom of your tier, and that u never got a win streak. In that case you will have 50 stars.
Starting from the bottom:
9 stars for Bronze
9 Stars for Silver
12 stars for Gold
12 Stars for Platinum
+ 8 Stars in Diamon
So worst case scenario, with that winrate and these numbers you should be Diamond 3
So I assume u calculated incorrectly your winrate or u are lying in purpose.
Just win at the right times 4Head. If you got an alt on light data we can have a few duels and go through some practices if you want. You seem adamant and I wouldn't mind helping. Best of luck!
Where are you seeing other players win percentages?
Also, find which map you play best on and queue during those times. I found that I can consistently go on 5-6 game win streaks on the volcano map (just like for some reason I struggle on the wind map and most of my loss streaks come from that map.) I simply wouldn't queue during the wind maps time frame and would queue mostly during the volcano map rotation. Going on long win streaks during the volcano map rotation made it pretty easy to burn through plat and diamond and get into crystal.
Speaking of, am I the only one that hates the way maps are handled? Why are they on a schedule? Just make the maps a random queue... While I definitely took advantage of my playstyle clearly doing well on the volcano map, I hate playing the same map over and over for 1.5 hours....I wanna play a different map every time I queue lol.
Yeah, i want the maps to just be random every queue. Also want to see the tornado map redesigned, it's really dumb that it's RNG who gets the buff when you get tossed in the air, and the tornados can just corner combo lock you to death. I like the other 2 maps but this one is just not interactive
Sadly not. It is kind of like in Endgame Raiding with randoms when u get that one slowpoke who doesn't learn from one mechanic even after making the whole Group wipe to it 10 Times. Some People just get carried by others that are so good,
they even compensate together about the weakness of missing one person trough coordination.
Bruh....

Why bother lying about your winrate when others can literally just calculate that you're lying? It's impossible to be hardstuck with a 60% winrate.
Keep pushing! You are on the right track.
You will get there just keep on going, analyze your own gameplay after every match, become better then you currently are and make a bigger difference in every match.
Don't focus on others, you can't control them only yourself.
I had over 200 wins before I got to crystal so don't worry about games played or wins you have.
Just keep on going, you can do it!
Sorry to break it to you but If you hardstuck at Platinum then you're just bad and belong there end of story you're only a crystal player in your head
Stop dropping games and maybe you'll win more.
Eh, to be fair, it's 100% possible for a very skilled player to be stuck at a certain rank because of bad luck in the current system, especially if they're playing one of the weaker jobs. This isn't LoL, or even the old Feast, where you can 1vX carry most teams if you're extremely good. You obviously still have carry potential but considerably less so, even on the strongest jobs.
That being said, if a player is really better than their current rank, they will definitely break the hold eventually. And considering that you can't drop down a tier, they will probably break it regardless of their skill if they're really tenacious, just a matter of time.
I think it really depends on how we're defining "stuck" in this context.
Hardstuck in something like LoL is typically taken to mean you can play hundreds/thousands of matches and never move up.
CC frankly hasn't been out long enough for anyone to say they're hardstuck. "Bad luck" is something that gets statistically ironed out given a large enough sample size.
I think some jobs are probably more reliable to climb with quickly, but it's ultimately not the deciding factor.
I ranked my first character to Crystal in relatively few matches on WHM and thought maybe good luck on a meta job tipped the scales,
so I ranked my other three characters to Crystal on off-meta jobs, including one exclusively as the extremely team dependent BRD.
Obviously the plural of anecdote isn't data and all that, but it's made it difficult for me to believe that folks simply can't climb due to external factors.
Yeah, absolutely this. I just see a lot of people playing the "you can't climb because you suck" card and I think it's a little to early for that, at least for most players. And I also agree that at the end of the day and with several hundred games played, the job you're playing won't make the difference between a player being Plat and Crystal. As I said, the carry potential isn't as strong to begin with - back in the old Feast days I reached the top 100 comfortably with a 70%~ winrate, similarly to how I can climb to low Diamond / high Plat with a winrate like that in LoL; in CC that's much more "difficult" imo because the team factor is even more prevalent.
But yeah, as long as you win even slightly more than half of your games over a large sample size, you will eventually climb either way.
Yeah, which is why I said so.
Yeah, to keep on the MOBA comparison, it's like the difference between LoL/DotA and HotS.
In League, you can just flat-out carry a game. If you're good enough, depending on your hero and role, it almost doesn't matter how bad the rest of your team is.
In HotS, because of the shared team experience, you could have a dramatic positive impact on a match with strong performance and shot calling,
but straight-up carrying was substantially more difficult because there was no way to just personally scale up and run away with the game.
CC is much more similar to HotS in that regard than it is to LoL.
You can make a huge difference, but outside of something like blowing up half the enemy team on SAM when they misplay against your LB,
you're unlikely to be in a position to outright overpower your opponents entirely by yourself.
I've always felt like the only way you can really suck at a game is by being uninterested in improving.
If you've already decided that you're doing everything right and your win rate is only negatively impacted by externals,
(especially if you're a psycho like the OP and hold that position so firmly that you abandon matches when you don't like how they're going),
then yeah, it's probably safe to say you suck and it's not going to get any better.
I think for most players, however, as long as they keep focusing on their own performance,
they'll find that through the course of their own improvement, or simply through playing enough matches to iron the bad luck out,
they're not going to have any trouble in the long run making it at least to Crystal.
Like... patience, folks. It hasn't even been 3 weeks.
Perfectly put, a very well-written post, especially the second half. I'm certain that literally every single player has the potential to at least reach gold (or similar) tiers if they apply themselves - hell, great game knowledge (the importance of lasthitting, jungle pathing, ward patterns, enemy skills and cooldowns etc.) can 100% carry you to Gold in LoL for example, even if you have the practical "skill" of a Bronze player. It's as you said, have patience and apply yourself and you'll improve no matter what.
Are you bitter or just ignorant? Or is it both?
Sure, only 10 people queued, that's why 90% of the top 100 back then had hundreds of games played. If anything the "queue early to succeed" method was way, way more effective in CC because you had so many people with zero PvP knowledge queuing during the first few days. Like, you have to do some insane mental gymnastics to claim otherwise.
And unkillable healers? Right, tell that to the top 10 healers I regularly killed solo with zero assistance because I actually had the option to play around their cooldowns. Imagine trying to shittalk Heavensward PvP when it had the by far highest skill ceiling we've ever had in FFXIV PvP.
Imagine pretending to be a "top 100" player on the forums in a game that has always had dead pvp that no one cared about? The feast was fun, but not very good. And HW really? Back when you had your pve kit so combat was slow as hell with sleep spams? lol no. PvP back then was even worse.
"pretending" when you can literally look it up. Plenty of people have always cared about it, you acting like a condescending sh*ttalker doesn't change that. Have less people cared than in other big MMOs? Sure, but that's beside the point.
How was the combat slow as hell when we literally had the same / a similar GCD, our full PvE kit as well as PvP skills, all of which amounted to like 10-15~ OGCDs per job? Like, are you even thinking about what you're typing? Also, "sleep spam" when DR existed and only WHMs and BLMs could even do it; that sure was worse than being unga bunga AoE stunned, silenced, rooted and polymorphed without DR every 15-25 seconds by almost any job! Also, you thinking that players had the time to spam sleeps in Feast really shows how much you participated back then.
This will be my last reply to you since you have repeatedly shown that you have no idea what you're talking about and talking to you seems like a waste of time in this instance.
That's nice, but hey keep pretending to be good. BTW your character name isn't listed going all the way back to season 12 since they don't record beyond for your data center so lul. Edit: double lol, you did it in season 2 on the old DC with 56 wins. So basically you win traded and never even went beyond gold rank with a rating of 965 lmfao. That's an insanely low rating. I wouldn't be remotely proud of being top 100 with that rating as that basically says the pool was extremely small and you were the bottom of that barrel.
Not saying the current mode is good or even the ranking is good, but pretending the old mode was actually good or even popular is laughable. Even at the start of seasons queue times were relatively long. Mid season? forget about it. Late season? lawl enjoy that 90 minute queue. Time will tell with CC, but several weeks later the queue is still instant pop and the wolves den is still packed.
I'll say this to anyone that is "stuck"; If I could climb to Crystal rank on pre-6.11 GNB, anyone can.
Yeah, I just can't let that part stand since it's pretty much slander. Why do you insist to keep speaking on matters you clearly have zero actual knowledge of? You don't know how rating/ranking worked back then and that they changed it in season 3, which is fine, but stop acting like you have any idea what you're talking about. As soon as you hit Gold you pretty much lost almost the same rating for a loss that you gained for a win and even in Silver it was just a slight positive - the pool was just as big as it was in season 3-4 (which is when I stopped playing Feast altogether), most people simply couldn't climb because it was so punishing to lose. I mean, there were still countless players with hundreds of games played and the majority was simply stuck in Silver. There's a reason that only a handful made it to Diamond in seasons 1-2 as Plat was pretty much a wall for most.
It's also cute that you think that I wintraded just because I actually knew how to carry - like seriously, who wintrades to reach rank 71? Not to mention that it was way harder / less consistent to wintrade than it is now. I had similar winrates in season 3 and 4, but since you needed to play way more because of the ranking changes in season 3, I just couldn't manage to reach top 100 because I didn't have the time to play hundreds of games a season with the queue times being what they were for DPS.
I ranked mid to late season in two of the three seasons I played, and the queues were never so bad that I had to wait 90 minutes, or anything close to it, even as a DPS - at least during prime time. They obviously still sucked but that was mainly because barely anyone wanted to queue as healer.
You don't know how ranking and matchmaking worked back then and you miraculously backpaddled on combat being slow, because you probably realized what an absurd claim that was to begin with when compared with today's PvP combat and I'm beginning to think that you didn't really participate at all; yet you keep talking and talking. Disagreeing with me is one thing, proofless slander because you can't fathom that people could actually carry is another. Welcome to my blacklist, I guess.
