Just a thought that popped up into my head. If anybody has ever played Pokemon Ruby, Sapphire and Emerald it's basically that: a secret base somewhere in the open world where you can decorate to your liking and invite others to see/hang out in it.
In the case of it being instanced, just make it so an unlimited amount of people can use the same spot and that the hideout they pop up into is completely separate from the open world.

Like, at first, your adventurer hide out starts out pretty basic, similar to apartments in the housing wards. Neat idea. But I remember someone once mentioned on another thread it is not possible to do so because the way the game and servers are coded etc. etc....Yeah, not happening. Despite how much I want it.

I'm just thinking off the top of my head as I understand what you're saying. But at the same time, I can also see Yoshi-P actually being able to implement a feature like Adventurer hideouts once things surrounding the current housing system and other problematic features in the game are successfully or somewhat for the most part resolved.
I also think Adventurer hideouts could give players extra incentive to actually go out in the open world and explore a bit. And maybe with a hideout feature in the open world of the game, maybe it could inspire Yoshi-P and the dev team to do more with the open world leaving it what it currently is: a vast and open empty space that's really beautiful to look at, but again, nothing much going on there besides Fates and the occasional Hunt party. -

The idea of unlimited instanced housing has been suggested since before housing even existed and the only thing they've done is added more limited housing. Even island sanctuary will (probably) not fit the role of housing as I am betting it will not allow you to: Use the hundreds of pieces of furniture in the game, have airships/subs, allow you to invite people over. If I'm wrong then that'd be great, but I imagine it's just going to be a solo instance where you're just given some bullshit busywork.

About housing sanctuary being basically just a special hub for crafters and gathers...I honestly wouldn't mind that. Having a place that focuses more on giving something special to crafters and gathers would be neat. And it's not like those who don't do either wouldn't find some sort of use for the sanctuary.
Also, the housing wards don't have to become obsolete. Just make them mostly for FC wards and individual players who want that kind of shared hub system and let the rest of us have our own private little island houses. xD

By this I mean, you can walk up to like the gates of the property, or the building inside a town, and enter an instance. Some are private islands, I myself have this gigantic island mansion I got for free a few years back even. They can be small, or massive. If someone wants to see proper instanced housing, ESO is one of the good ones. However, it is heavily monetized. To the point they charge(d) $100 for some houses, "limited" time sales (fomo), housing items in lootboxes, the cash shop, etc..Quote:
