actually, October would be more likely based on the phrasing, It's saying buy before may 31st, skip June b/c of 30 free trial, pay for the 3 months of July, August, and September... thereby from May 30+90 days passed to be October.

last date to register = 31st May, thats register not start paying. That would mean 4 months so it would be October by your reasoning.

of course don't forget that we may have to factor in 1-2 months of error just in case SE has has to fix unforeseen errors that will prevent the player-base from joining the game. :) so I'd say in theory, beta will most likely be starting October through December. (just to be on the safe side)

If Beta appears to be end of September - October time 2.0 is right on track :D.

I have a quick question I came back in April and paid for two months so far and the dead line is may 31 and my 3ed month won't be billed till June 5th so that mean I won't get the Legacy?
Should I just buy a 90 day payment real fast?
All so my wife came back in may 7th if I buy her a 90 day payment will she get the Legacy too?

It says registered, not fully paid for your three months.

You should be alright, basically the above is just an added requirement for Legacy so those who may buy the game on the last day or a month before and be like oh hey 90 days pay now I'm Legacy to. This is basically a way to weed out an influx of Legacy members last minute but, people still have 10 days to register the product if they have faith in the product. So basically it comes down to is a person willing to gamble 20 dollars in hope that 2.0 will be good so that they can go for legacy should they choose. If you think of the recent influx of MMO's that have gone for 60 it is a good investment if you end up liking the game, and even if you don't at least you only paid 20 dollars for a chance at the 9.99 legacy lol. 9.99=120$, 12.99=156$ and 14.99=180. So basically for anyone who gets the notification and gives the 20 dollar game a shot they easily end up saving 16/30 dollars the first year if they become eligible for legacy lol. Then each following year they save 36/50 dollars lol.

Granted this doesn't help anyone who prolly hasn't gotten the game or doesn't view the game but as it stands now it comes down to if you are even slightly interested in the game now's the time to buy and register it. If you don't then you'll end up costing yourself 1 new game a year because of the extra cash you'll be paying for a a yearly sub compared to legacy members XD.

I have a question about this legacy thing. Legacy members can request their name to be added to credits of 2.0 version so does this mean we get our real name in there or in-game name?

I am a legacy player, was cool going into billing to update and see it by the name , have been taking a break from game due to burn out on it and trying out the other big online games that just came out but back on today try finish up some old content and just wondering what 2.0 will bring and how far off from it we are now , E3 is just in a few weeks, so maybe see something about it there.
Anyway whatever happens, i hope to try out 2.0 and am looking forward to see what happens next.

15 days till the Sony Press Conference so 2 weeks =).

September 30th would be the '2 year anniversary' of the games release, so i'm bettin on that date.

I am the same... my english is not the best, so i am a bit concerned. i am 2/3 months paied it would be really nice if anyone could confirm we are still safe to get legacy ^^;

Already got legacy status so not worried at all but from sales stand point was thinking they only giving 10 days notice for new players wanting to buy/get legacy status is bit too quick, should of gave them at least 1 month heads up imo, but that's just me.

Either way most people wanting/wanted to play the real FFXIV they all had in mind probably bought the game before or at time of original launch date so might not be too much of an issue anyways.

Just thought 10 days was bit too early but then again I'm not SE so I don't make the decisions~ just hope it goes well

Basically its stating you need to have started paying by the 31st to squeak out legacy status. Any thing before then is fine.

After that, you have to pay 3 months after your 30-day free trial period or you won't be Legacy. So. To recap: start playing the game (register) before May 31st and play the next four months and you'll be fine.

No, If you started playing May 31st if the last day.

I'll give an example:

You start on May 30th
Your 30-day free trial lasts untill 30th June
You pay for 90 days of Subs untill September 30th
You become a Legacy Member
Beta starts around October 2012.

We need a dev in here to come and put all those doubts to rest, i am sure alot of people is panicing right now hehe.

That's all you need to know :), After that you HAVE to keep pay to play up to beta which is basically what this announcement is for anyways.

What I been worried about is this.

It sounds like you must pay by may 31 it says subscribed for a minimum of 90 days by may 31 and it has me worried that me and my wife can't get it

Again my wife turn her account back on may 5 and I turn mine on in april would it be safer just to pay for 90 days and call it good?

You just need to have it registered by the 31st, then pay monthly non-stop until you hit 90 days, and you're good!

You will be fine, the Beta starts in October+, so if you subbed now, you'll have your 30 free try + 3-months worth of subs way before the beta even starts.

Ok I will just pay month by month.
Thank you all for your help I got the game when it first came out and just came back now hope to be playing years to come but just wanted to make sure me and my wife got this I guess I need to wait till June 5 th and July 5 and hope to get a e mail

Once you have already registered and paid, you don't have to enter your registration code any more. You also don't have a 30 day free trial period anymore. Thus, the 31st of May is irrelevant to you. (This is in the context of needing to already have an active account to post on the forums, making the concept of having stuff done by the 31st of May irrelevant to us forum-posters.)

A new player has, naturaly, not paid anything yet and thus has 30 days of free play. That means only after 30 days will he receive a bill that he can pay. So in order to achieve Legacy status, he has to have his game registered by the 31st of may.

What is clear is that they are not being at all specific about when the beta will exactly start. There are a couple of possible interpretations on this and other rep's comments if you read between the lines. All that is blatantly clear is:
- People who haven't registered the game to start their free trial period need to do it by May 31st;
- If you fall into this catergory, schedule 90 days up front payment for the moment your 30-day trial ends.
- Otherwise, make sure you've paid for 3 months by the time beta starts, whenever that is.
