I am getting really tired of winning 1 match then losing the next 10. There is no balance to this garbage mode what so ever.
Why don't you go ahead and drink that entire bottle of salt then grab 3 more and drink those too? A garbage system is garbage no matter how you try and fluff it up.
I actually would prefer if they stopped wasting development time on pvp as it just doesnt work in this game.

The Feast was crap. I quite enjoy this.
Yes, you do get the short end of the straw on some teams randomly assigned to you, but then other times you do not.
The rewards so far for season 1 are Plate Frames. You aren't missing anything crazyyyyyy. Yet.
The new one is nice.
Fast rounds and the chance for a comeback at any time.
It maybe is not 100% balanced but it also doesn't matter if I stay stuck in silver or get another lucky round of 11/2 like I had from unranked to silver.
Defenetly better more casual friendly then feast.
I much prefer it to the Feast where you'd get stuck in dull stalemates where nobody dies for several minutes at a time because the healers are competent but the DPS don't know how to coordinate burst.
Here, if there's any kind of significant skill disparity between the two teams one is inevitably going to start making headway as healers can no longer keep people alive for prolonged periods of time.
I do agree some jobs like MNK and BLM feel a bit...lacking compared to others, though. AoE heavy jobs really don't work out that well when you don't need everyone crowding into the control point to contest it and the jobs with oppressive amounts of single target burst like SAM and NIN seem better overall.

In my mind, I look at Feast vs this to make my judgments. And right now, I'm playing way more CC and enjoying myself more--even when losing 10 matches in a row--than I ever did playing Feast. By a country mile. The matches are fast so a prolonged game isn't something that normally happens (which can demoralize a losing team way more than just taking the loss and moving on), I'm getting Series XP, currency, and tomes even for losing so losses don't feel nearly as punishing, and finally, FINALLY there's a way to get Wolf Collars that doesn't involve torturing myself queueing for 30+ minutes at a time in terrible matches that go on forever because people don't know how the game mode works.
Payload (What CC's rules are based on) may not be as easy to understand as Deathmatch, but it's easy enough compared to "Collect the coins, but not too many or you become more frail and get focused down and--oh no, we're dead."
That’s not addressing the problems though. While i do agree it shouldn’t be axed immediately, it needs to be fixed somewhat. Idk why in any pvp mode you would give multiple jobs instant kill abilities. Not only that but it looks like they kind of destroyed healer kits. Sage’s only form of healing is in kardia??? I’m all aboard with healers getting more dps options but to only make the healing available via a single target partner buff and their mitigation tools being pretty minor…oof. It seems like there’s a lot of balancing that needs to be done.
I can't speak to the instant kill mechanics because I do agree that those--particularly Ninja's--can be pretty ugly to deal with firsthand, but as someone playing as an AST, let me weigh in on the other piece of criticism.
I think the biggest problem with healers in PVP is less so the design in PVP and more the players' mindsets when approaching PVP in a way that healers would approach PVE or pre-CC PVP.
Consider your job less of a "Healer" and more of a "Support". Yes, you have some healing and that can certainly help turn the tide, but in PVP, that is not your primary focus or job. With the restructuring of PVP actions, every single class regardless of role has a new playstyle vs what they did before.
For example, it used to be an AST was just like every other healer. Heal players, maybe throw some DPS up cards on people, do a teensy bit of damage, try really hard not to die.
New PVP AST is very much a Crowd Control / Support. Gravity II -> Double Cast and Macrocosmos are mainly used as huge AoE DPS abilities that do way more base damage than Fell Malefic. That along with throwing out DPS up / MP regen / LB Generation cards on cooldown and the best support LB in the game, healing starts to become an afterthought. Especially when you consider that every single job in PVP has their own unique sustain on top of a virtually spammable heal in the form of Recuperate. So you should not have to heal them as much as you feel like you need to. And if your party members are going down so fast that you feel like you need to be doing more healing, trust me. They were probably focusing that player down with extremely potent DPS and they weren't supposed to survive that kind of an onslaught.
From what I am seeing just from the tooltips on the Job Guide, Sage's playstyle is that of an Enfeebler. Some of your best skills inflict Vulnerability on targets, letting your DPS/Tank party members deal way more damage to them, and SGE's LB is a god-tier Area Denial ability that you can slap down wherever you need enemies to not be, like a checkpoint.
Why waste time for content like 10% of the playerbase even engages with? A lot of people are now forced to play a bad mode to get the glamor items and mounts from the event.
See you in a month when you're calling this Feast 2.0 and we're back to Frontlines only exp queue.

I would only add that queuing as a healer is still challenging given that most other teams still will tend to dogpile the healer. so my first act on my AST is to pray to RNG Jesus for a good card, throw that out, get out my gravity and then try not to die. it is definitely NOT to spam heals on anyone.
They didn't balance this crap at all. WAR is so much stronger compared to the other tanks that it's a fucking joke! They only cared about WAR and it shows. Which at this point isn't surprising any more since they have showed favoritism to WAR since patch 2.1 and I've seen it all as a PLD main.
Honestly FL is a bit more fun with the rework and to be honest, i was really apprehensive about the changes. But I like the rework. Sure its more DPS focus and it does require teamwork and to focus burn a target but everyone has something to be able to contribute to the overall success of the team be it in CC or FL. But this is my opinion. Hopefully they will balance things out rather sooner than later.
This is probably the most fun game mode since The Fold.
How can anyone say with a straight face that there is any sliver of balance in this new pvp is beyond mad. Some of these skills that some jobs have is so over the top. Also i can just about guess every time what team is going to win before the match starts just looking at the party comps. SE has a lot of work ahead of them if they want to make this new pvp balanced and equally competitive imo
That is a series EXP reward. You get that for all modes of PVP regardless of Rank, Casual, FL, CC, etc. It's not a gated by a rank reward or even by winning. It's rewarded for just doing the content.

I'm having a lot of fun with it, and I don't usually enjoy PvP in XIV much.
There is so much they need to do. The communication system is horrible beyond reason. How is there no 'attack healer' option?
I just don't understand how it can be this bad. Who is their pvp team? They NEED to be removed. This isn't a slip up of judgement. This is extreme incompetence that makes the game look bad.
I think the CC is fine. They could maybe shorten the purify CD to 15s and make the immunity it offers 10s instead of 5s, but overall the amount of CC is mostly fine. Only thing that really bothers me is warrior cc appears to be an aoe as well as being a gap closer on a pretty short CD. Primal Rend CD either needs to be increased or the stun needs to be single target.
The mode its self is fun but How it is right now I don't think it has a place for ranked play.
- RNG que with RNG roles
- No communication (apart from selected messages which are bad and nobody follows)
- No group quing? in a team based ranked game?
- 90% of the round stunned with CC (Area CC should be removed)
Its one big loop with getting lucky with who you get on your team with noway of carrying your team alone. I've just been playing casual que and its a lot more fun with not having to care about how unbalanced it is.
ok, this is too funny. There's probably no "attack healer" because this isn't the old PVP system. Every player can heal and mitigate. A healer could be a priority target, but other players could easily be a higher priority - so no "attack healer' is no some sign of gross incompetence on SE's part. a competent player should be able to see who to focus. Alternatively use your keybinds or hotbars to mark players.
Honestly I think they should just give up on a ranked mode. The queues are fast now, but splitting the player base is eventually going to lead into one of the modes to be empty like how it was with the feast. I think the battle pass can easily be more than enough to keep the unranked mode populated for each season. They just need to work on better rewards than just a crystal resource.
Yeah I agree, also ranked pvp always ends up being a negative for the game. The ranked ladder is just an RNG ladder has no relevance of being good or not.
No ranked with all the rewards available is the way to go. Just turn the scoreboard in to a wins leaderbored like the frontlines standings and call it a day.
I know how you feel in loosing matches, I would have been in Dimond already. Was in Gold and now back in silver it is frustrating but the challenge is accepted I rage and get upset but I need to accept defeat and so should you this new PvP is very very fun I'm glad they removed feast to be honest and I prefer it this way or a Seperation of Team Ranked Crystalline Conflict to Solo Ranked Crystalline Conflict so everyone can be happy. But remember we all need to learn to take the big L and get better at our game. A life lesson we all as competitive players we are, we don't always get what we want. So please Warrior of Light get up and dust off and try and try again.
