Please Fix Machinist

Right now, neither the gameplay nor the damage feels right on this job.

I would like to touch on the gameplay part first:
Like many have mentioned before me,
- Machinist basically has 3 versions of Drill.
- The climax on Wildfire looks boring and the damage is so low for the amount of build-up needed for it.
- I like how Wildfire feels but I think Reaper has got a better version of it.
- Flamethrower feels just awful, it does not even do the dmg needed to be just standing still for ages
- Why does Auto-crossbow still not reduce your OGCD cooldown like heat blast?

I would argue that this job is far from being complete (like Samurai, Black mage or reaper feel)

Now the tricky bit, the damage.
Oh boy does it lack in Damage, it has no Utility (Tactician not counted) and no damage to make up for it.

-why not give chain saw a cast timer like samurais midare or reapers communio?
- if Machinist is the Phy. range equivalent selfish DPS of Samurai and Black mage, in my opinion, it should be third in ADPS, SAM being first, BLM being second.
to justify having zero utility ( you would still have your "range tax" as it would still deal less than the other 2 selfish DPS. (But I guess i might be the only one feeling that way)

I had high hopes for Endwalkers version of machinist, but tbh it feels worse than what we had in Shadowbringer.

This class is currently in nirvana being selfish but having neither damage nor utility and on top still feels weird gameplay wise.

I do not have my hopes up for any changes :( but I would wish there to be some major ones

All the overhauls they are making to job balance are coming with 6.1. Just be patient for a few more weeks.

Regardless of your opinion on the developers balance of jobs, they have already said that they have plans for major balance changes for 6.1 and this falls in line with what they have been doing the last two expansions where they make significant adjustments to jobs in the X.1 patch.

I mean, like it or not, MCH will never be a top damage job. That simply goes against their philosophy of physical ranged having a tax for the ability to essentially have 100% uptime. thats not what i mean, i meant is that it sweet that your expecting them to put affords in the balance.
don't count on any significant changes it will only set u up for disappointment

Check the feedback, it's from 5.0 elements except for Chainsaw.
We've been waiting 6.0 to fix Flamethrower, Wildfire and to add interaction with the Automaton Queen.
Also Hypercharge on stack is a popular feedback as well as MCH damage.

Excuse us if we feel impatient after 3 years of no change and a disappointing 6.0.

Both 4.1 and 5.1 had pretty significant adjustments to jobs and they have already said on their streams they have major adjustments planned for 6.1.

Yes many things we have been asking for along time sadly....

It’d be great if we had the old MCH animations with simply arm extended inward, aim & shoot,

The “Matrix/Anime” flips & over exaggerated display of abilities just made me quit MCH.

All else I’ve no issue with their other overall performance/ abilities wise

Isn't Flamethrower a dps gain over Scattergun?

Still, a valid point on how FT is terrible to use... You rely on the tank not moving stuff around, which is kinda difficult to find in routette runs, but that is also symptomatic on the limitations of XIV's code... I think FT is the only channeled action truly indended to be used as part of your aoe rotation (unless SAM and DRG have those as well, but I'm not familiar w the jobs).

It is but only if you don't have near 50 heat.
The gain is veeeery light.

In savage, its only use is pressing it before a boss is targetable again and hoping you get a tick of damage before resuming your GCDs.

And in both cases, gameplay wise it's boring to not touch your keyboard for 10 seconds.
The action is far more useful as an emote than an actual ability.

And I'm just sitting here, still being sad that I lost my turrets...

We should look to the future ahead tho, agreed!
