Lemme check my crystal ball.
Hmmmmm.....
I dunno.
But seriously, no one knows but Yoshi P and the devs. I will join you in waiting though, I'm pining for Musketeer real bad.
it sure wont be in 2013
9/10/12 there you go!!!!
Arcanist may be closer than we think, given they have told us that the first new class will be a magic class and well, Arcanist fits straight into lore. The follow up question is which job...?
Yoshi-P said it somewhere that just because Arcanist guild is in-game doesn't mean it will be the first new class implemented.
It would be nice if perhaps we could get something by E3 but it's really hard to say, I'm sure they are working on class concepts as we speak but it all comes down to when they want to reveal them. Just like the Greatsword I was dissapointed we never get anything that resembled the Miquote's barrier magic since it did look like it could make for a unique concept that could act as both an Offensive/Defesive magical concepts. Erecting up barriers which could improve your defense against certain elements, avoid certain attack or barriers which enhance players withing the area of effect as long as they remain inside it and such.
Though with the whole falling of Dalamud they could easily introduce a new magic user into the mix perhaps one "blessed" by the aura of Dalamud reaching Eorzea unlocked some lost magical knowledge or something lol. Popularity wise we might see something resembling a Red Mage/enfeebler type of class or perhaps they'll be more adventerous and introduce a magical/pet class to us.
I guess whenever the player poll results are released we'll have an idea of what they want to work on and perhaps even some interesting sketches or ideas behind each concept. Hopefully it won't be to long til after 2.0 though since it would be nice to have more classes introduced so we can have more abilities to mix and match for our classes.
Well, I was talking about schools of magic rather than jobs that can use magic. Parity is pretty much impossible seeing that there's more weapon types than schools of magic.
What I'm getting at is that if we want versatility we're gonna have to see some of the magic schools reinvented. If the way Thaumaturge was treated was any indication, there's gonna be some feathers ruffled no matter what approach they take. That being said, I still volunteer Blue Magic and Geomancy to be defense/healer-oriented. >.>
I'll admit I am a little antsy over the results of the poll.
Hopefully a Debuff class/job. All of THM's debuffs are gone more or less...rasp, choke, ect...would be nice to see a job thats main job is to debuff.
Through the last MMO we went from 6 in a party to 8...dont know why we narrow down the job roles within a party are even less then XI.
I've concocted my own personal theory that they will add musketeer and arcanist, both of which will respectively have thief and red mage as their jobs.
Yeah, I get that. It just seems like it doesn't fit in the least. The other six all make sense given the backstory and abilities surrounding their base classes (disregarding the skill reshuffling for THM and CON), but then you have Archers suddenly using magic out of nowhere. For bards, they just don't seem to fit the title very well.
I'm just hoping Thief doesn't end up like that as well. I mean, in the end it could easily make more sense than that, but when I think of thieves in the Final Fantasy franchise daggers, agility, evasion, and a few dirty tricks come to mind. I wouldn't be heartbroken if it came to that or anything as I have an interest in playing both anyway, but I would be a bit disappointed.
We're supposed to get a class or two at 2.0's launch according to Yoshi's interviews back when 2.0 was announced.
I doubt anyone would shed any tears if GLA suddenly lost the ability to equip knives and daggers. You can then go the Scout => THF route that has been suggested around here. All I'd ask is that THF is more spike damage dealer and stealth than Treasure Hunter and lolhate control.
XI had too many "roles" (outside the roles in accordance to the trinity). With an 8-man group you can do tankx2, healer x2 and 4 DPS (provided there are encounters in the future that support two tanks).Quote:
