*Spoilers* The Future of the Tower

What are they going to do with the Tower of Babel?

They could leave it as they did with Doma Castle, but the whole thing is still a liability and a symbol of the suffering of the Garlean people. Thousands of Garleans, unfortunate servants and conscripts, died or were tempered to build the huge ominous tower. I wouldn't put it past the Garleans bringing the tower down.

However, there is an additional factor now, in the Lunar Teleporter. The Tower is now a supposedly dependable means to get to the moon. It was reliable enough that the Sharlayans adjusted their plans to try to get people to the moon through the teleporter, although it failed due to the Final Days.

The Tower is basically how the Loporrits came down to help us, so in a way it helped save the world by giving us access to their expertise. I wonder if perhaps the Loporrits could use their technology to 'remodel' the tower in exchange for allowing the Lunar teleporter to remain? Or perhaps that's too much to allow the tower to remain a fixture in Garlemald. The towers of Garlemald have shown up in past maps, whether in Stormblood or in its current form in Endwalker. I wonder if they'll keep that spiky incarnation of the towers in future world maps. If they make any changes, it'll have to be something in the MSQ or mandatory content - otherwise they'll have to put in different maps. https://i.imgur.com/1fEyLfN.png

The fact that the tower is still radiating that ominous red aura makes me feel like there's still something going on in there we'll need to concern ourselves with later.

It being a physical construct as opposed to just an extension of Anima's being could mean simply destroying the primal wasn't enough for it to cease functioning entirely.

considering the body was the focus point and that it was cut into pieces to power the towers all over, I suspect as long one piece of the body remains then there is always a risk of Anima returning or a new Primal of similar nature.

WoL probably has to destroy the entire body just to prevent a Anima like being from being born again.

I'm kind of hoping that sprawling research facility beneath the tower is involved somehow.

Between the new Weapon project and the Solus clones, the Garleans were up to all kinds of questionable things down there and it wouldn't surprise me if something instrumental to Anima's initial summoning was included in that because even given the sheer amount of faith from the Garlean populace and a catalyst in Varis, there's still the matter of where the requisite aether for the summoning came from...unless I missed something.

A grim thought, but an awful lot of people had just died in the fighting between factions, and that was enough for Shinryu's summoning when combined with Ilberd's faith and the Eyes as a catalyst.

Well there is that creeper scientist you interact with in the last tier of the tertium landscape quests who basically vows you’ll see him again soon. I think he even goes “mwuhahaha”. lol So yeah I think they may be setting something up involving Hojo-esque mad scientists in Garlemald. Maybe it’s a 7.0 tease or maybe it’ll be this expac’s equivalent of the Four Lords storyline, I dunno.

I don’t know, but it’s still glowing red. Something is still going on in there.

couldn't they just remodel it back to how it was with the help of the bunnies since they have creation magic? the bunnies only promised to never use the creation magic to make something that is alive or have a soul i think it was

So there are a few things I noticed both with the tower and map that could lead to it eventually being taken down.

First of all it is not impossible with the game assets, after all we already saw something similar with the tower of zot in Thravnir and to a lesser extent the towers all over the world both appear and disappear again.

Second of all while it is true it is where we get access to the Lunar Transmitter one thing I noticed about the transmitter room is that it looks like fairly normal Garlean Architecture, meaning there are no anima spires or a dark aura in the chamber. Meaning that if the tower was somewhat restored to its previous appearance as the Imperial Palace and the dark aura surrounding it dissipates, it means that the transmitter room will probably be unaffected, meaning it will still be there.

Finally there is the towers presence on the map and that is quite simple to fix since this is not the final map of the three great continents, it is still very much uncomplete with most of Ilsabard shrouded by clouds. At first I was kind of disappointed that they kept Ilsabard shrouded but this discussion goth me thinking, what if the reason it is still not complete is because the final version will not only show a complete map of the three continents but also show get rid of the tower of babel and add a still somewhat damaged but also partially restored Garlemald in the upper part, complete with a new palace or senate building.

With Yoshi being blatantly secretive about how Zenos went about obtaining his avatar to become a reaper, I can't help but wonder if maybe the tower played a role in that as well, since there's no indication he ever left Garlemald after he started his schemes with Fandaniel.

Its ominous red aura certainly does remind me of various void-related things (Reaper's enshroud ability in particular) and if it's somehow harvesting void energy via magitek means (Which is completely within reason given who Fandaniel used to be) that might explain why it continues to look that way.

You could be even so right. What if Zenos never left, what if we saw only his Body with an Avatar but it was not his Soul? Zenos said, that he found out that not the Body has the strengh, it is the Soul. The last Fight with him was to easy.
