Dragoons changes effects removed and ideas

So with the latest patch they removed again an other pretty iconic effect of Dragoon and it’s the Dragon Sight visual effects. I know it’s just visual but at the same time it was Iconic for Dragoon and also kinda epic in a way to target a party member a like if you were saying "we fight as one" and visually seeing it make it just looking so good. For this one I don’t have really more idea to propose because I can’t understand why removing it

As for Blood of the Dragon blue aura I had a idea that me and a couple of Dragoon friends like. What if , every time you use Mirage Dive and obtain a gaze you turn blue and you stay blue until you use Geirskogul and turn red a bit like when WAR have a tiny bit of their beast gauge they got their aura around them. My other idea for blood of the dragon would be a stance the "Mirage Stance" that allows you to use your Dragoon gaze and stuff.

Dragoon is my favorite job in fact it’s the reason I bought FFXIV and growing up my Dragoon powers were the reason that I kept playing

I really don't understand why they had to remove the tether either, just increasing the range was already great for the skill. My guess, entirely pulled out of my head with no source at all mind you, is that since this tier is full of tethers in every single savage fight they removed the dragoon tether to make it less confusing. i dunno. I miss it too

Don’t worry I don’t mean bring back the 30 sec timer or you loose your gaze XD just the visual blue effects

I sorely miss the tether, there's honestly no reason it should've been removed imo.

Best compromise IMO would be a neat blue Eye visual effect (Imagine the DRG job guage dragon eye thing) under the players affected.
Or just bring it back and make it a setting to toggle it lol.

It was pretty funny watching that tether spaz all over the screen when the DRG jumped though.

I love the tether. What’s more fun from the ability than to watch some unfamiliar players freaking out from the ominous looking tether and runs away? XD

I am happy to see the tether go. I never liked it at all.

I heard it's because players panicked and would run when they see the tether.

So Drg has lost the Aura effect and now tether.
What’s next ? Tone down Stardiver and Dragonfire Dive’s effect because ppl can’t see shit ?

They could tie the aura to something else... It was pretty cool.

The final days is upon us.

I was never a fan of the Dragon Sight ability to begin with. It's a large part of why I don't enjoy DRG nowadays. For me it was a step in the right direction. lol

And they never changed Red mage lb3 visual even if that can literally wipe a party because you can’t see anything XD

Well, Logically, LB3 is most likely 1 use per pull so people can get by.
But DRG uses Stardiver every minute, so… yeah….

I mean its what...a 10% increase in damage for you and 5% for the person you tether with? I say the skill is more than worth it.

The removed the visual effect as a trade off to buffing the range. I guess they thought it would look too much or silly? I'm a bit torn personally. On one hand I'm really enjoying that I don't have to stand right up someones ass for it to function but on the other hand I do really miss the tether.

I like not having my view of the boss obscured by a tethered black-pineapple chaining jumps/dives and seeming to laser the raid each time.

Neither of those will have any visuals beyond the player physics/animation for most people, since their effects obeys players' VFX density settings. So unless we're worried about DRG's blinding themselves...

Only Tether, like summons, did not obey players' VFX density settings -- i.e., were not affected by being set to "Show Limited" or "Show None". (Such was arguably necessary when it had only a 15y range. Now, at nearly the width of a typical modern boss arena, there's no such need.)

Meanwhile we have SCH’s Fey Union, their fairy can literally p*** at their target from 30y lol.

Lifelong LOLDRG here, going back to FFXI.

1) A 30 yalm tether would be distracting and not look great. They made it 30y, drastically improving the ability's mechanical function.

2) The animation may come out faster. Still testing this. If true, nice because it makes it easier to double weave.

3) There's only a certain amount of visual data each Job can have on its abilities. This is likely the prelude to them putting Blood of the Dragon's animation back on the Job. Which in turn got removed for the animation on Wyrmwind Thrust. Now that the tether is gone, Blood's animation is likely back on the table.

Dragon Sight's tether is 99% certain never to return.

The tether probably going to interfere with some of the fights that's why they cut it. Example of this is in A3s when there are lots of tethers on screen.

You can turn down spell effects for others in party in the character settings. It makes it much easier to see, especially in alliance raids.

I think it would have been good to still have some visual indicator of who you are giving dragon sight to. It could just be a quick animation like a dragon eye that briefly appears above their head or something like mirage dive with but hitting your party member.

There should be an option to remove tethers visually from the options screen because I like to see tethers and removing them makes no sense since people won't know they're being tethered unless they squint at the buff icons. Which, let's be honest, most don't even know what the icon looks like. Also, IMO if a class has locked animations for their skills, they should be more powerful than classes that don't use them. I don't know if DRG is like that anymore but the compromise for animation lock was power. Hopefully, it still is.

It could give me a 250% damage buff and I still wouldn't like how it functions. I don't like having to go out of my way to target another dps just to maximize gains. Litany is fine though since it's more of an indirect approach. Most party-oriented buffs work that way.

Dragon Sight should go in general IMO. Blood of the Dragon should return and Geirskogul should use meter like it used to in HW, with the two positionals increasing the time BotD has left. Bam. Cool dragon again.

Yeah havent checked myself but if they did remove all indications of sight then yeah they really should add at least a quick effect like dance partner or kardia, maybe flash a dragon eye on the player or something, lol

I've always appreciated the concept of the tether but never really liked how it looked anyway. It just looks so strange, especially when the Dragoon starts using their Jumps (or, for that matter, when two DRGs are tethered to each other).

What I would propose is to actually combine the two effects brought up by the OP: Make Dragon Sight actually activate the old Blood of the Dragon visual effect on BOTH the DRG and their tethered partner to show the two are "linked" without needing a big visual tether connecting the two of them. Bonus points for making the visual effect "stronger" or less transparent the closer the DRG and their partner are to each other so that while there is no longer a tangible reason to have the two stay within a certain range it would still at least "look cooler" when they are.

If they took away the tether from Paladin's Cover skill I would be devastated.

Laser sight was included within the "some effects" option from display party effects, hence why when one saw it, one wouldnt know if its a P4 tether or what.

And i dont play a dragoon or level one, so wasnt aware it was their doing.. cursed floortanks..
