i like endwalker till i seen this bs = stupid
wasnt that bad, having different things tossed in was a nice change
i had to crack open a beer why bleh . i rather be changed to a chochobo
Man, if you thought it was bad, you would have quit the game if you tried it before they nerfed it lol
It's the body swap one? I thought it was good for the story because we are far too strong. It had to be difficult to make us feel vulnerable and relate to the struggle of normal people who we often rescue.
It wasn't hard pre-nerf and it's barely a roadbump now. I will die on this hill.
INB4 the conga line of of people telling you how easy it was and how they did it blindfolded using only one toe to control their character.
oops...too late
Didn't they nerf this scenario already? And still want more help? Guess u want to be handheld after all..
I enjoyed it for how it was presented for a narrative sense. Yes its awkward but it was also adrenaline rushing and honestly one of the highlight moments for me with EW's story.
I thought it was blooming fantastic and added to the angst of the story line. Wasn't difficult for me at all.
It was hard til you realized you can't get the fuel until you first inspect the damaged Magitek. It was artificial difficulty. As for the story bit - I feel like they wanted it to be longer because it felt like it ended abruptly.
I love everything about it; especially that hot date before.
I actually enjoyed the mission. I've ran multiple characters through it, I have a gang of alts but.. I messed up on my first clear because I hit enter and entered asdf;ghjasdfhasd;jha;osdkljf;la into the chat bar at a critical moment. > _ > I wish there was some more content like this, maybe not necessarily MSQ stuff, side content or something. I feel for people who legitimately have issues doing these things, but it seems pretty clear to me there's an audience (how ever self loathing we are) for this kind of stuff.
I really don't get the hate for this bit of the scenario. Its wonderfully fitting for the theme of Endwalker, overcoming dread and impossible odds.
Imho, if you struggled a bit with finding your way, and combat something you actively tried to avoid, then the mission did everything right. I kinda feel like that it what its supposed to do, make us uneasy and go out of our comfort zone. Its one of the better setpieces of the entire expansion if you ask me, because its not straightforward.
To use someone elses words:
Think, and find your way in the darkness.
The only stupid thing about it is that Zenos and Fandaniel accomplished exactly nothing from doing it.
Didn't even manage to, say, break G'raha's arm or something.
Probably wasted enough mana that their Moon Plan failed. And they *knew* the souls would switch back in under an hour. Probably even if the WoL died.
... I guess I can forgive not just outright killing the WoL, when they had the chance. Fandango definitely should have, and seems to be in charge, but Zenos wouldn't have liked that very much...
I also love everything about it! Even people complaining it was too hard.
Hated it, but in a different sense than most people who had a problem with it.
It wasn't HARD hard... It was ANNOYING hard.
Because I'm not a fan of the role play segments anyway, so to get stuck doing RP
as an incredible wimp who doesn't even regen between fights without first finding
a particular item, and then not knowing at first what you're even supposed to do..
Yeah, irritating.
I only had trouble because I didn't know what to do. I was lost and just ran around a lot. xD But I can also be oblivious sometimes, so subtle things are not my forte. Otherwise it wasn't that bad.
I thought it was very interesting, fun challenging, a great change of pace. narratively exciting, my only complaint is that it was over too quickly.
I did it it one try.
you may like it or not but its not really stupid. at least you have to do it just once. remember stirmblood with the playong npc thing? and now in EW with the following around? they kinda over did it with these things
I like that they did something new and different so gold star there, but I personally don't like it at the same time.
Just not into stealth missions and this expansion had too many of them with following the NPCs all around.
I reeeallly hope they tone it down because that was anti-fun.
Same. I'm convinced that there's a lot of people who simply aren't used to stealth games, which includes patience, attention to detail, patience, trek strategy, patience, resource gathering and--you guessed it--even more patience. I mean, it's not the overly best designed stealth instance but given the confines of FFXIV's programming, I gotta say it wasn't bad at all.
I just loved the possibility of dying so quickly if I messed up...but that never happened.
What this mission requires is just some patience and exploration, there's plenty of safe areas to run down, then there's some areas that without a lot of patience may end up getting you into combat, but that should be fine if you explore the area for medkits, as when I finished the mission I had plenty of medkits spare, I nearly failed it because I ended up going the wrong way first, then the right way to the injured npc, then all the way back to find the part I needed, and then finally back to the magitek unit, but yeah, still had enough time, I do get why some people wouldn't like the mission though, but again, patience and exploration will pay off easily.
As others have said, I liked it for what it represented in the narrative. Having a real moment of vulnerability was certainly a nice change, but it was rather awkward. I managed to beat it on my first go (pre-nerf), but it felt like one of those moments when a dev team adds a forced stealth section into their game that isn't focused on stealth. Still, it was well presented and fun so I had no problem with it, other than length. Then again, I like stealth games so I might be rather biased
I wouldn't really want to do stealth again, but head on combat in the dirt and snow with the rest of the soldiers would have been interesting. Not to mention witnessing how the rest of the Sions would have solved problems without their fleshy tactical nuke. As it stands, it felt a little too short for my tastes.
i dont think ff14 is a game where people learn to have patience xD. its pretty chill... but so many people are in a rush
They nerfed this? News to me. I beat it the first time when the expansion came out without dying once. I thought it was pretty easy.
I hated it not because it was hard, I didn't think it was, but because it was unfun.
Its was easy pre-nerf, now I cant even imagine how much of a joke it is...It fit into the story well and was a really really nice and welcome addition to changing things up!
It just seems like carebares just need to be handheld through everything now a days :(
It is.
Honestly, the only thing that bugs me about the instance is that you're railroaded into taking a very specific path through the city that's only discernable via the invisible walls that appear when you get close to them as opposed to them just clearly outlining the area you have to work with on the minimap or some such.
Yeah, I hated this one too but mostly for the reason I hate most of the instanced story bits: the objective isn't clear, or rather, the path to it isn't clear. When you're on at 12 am (to beat the congestion) and you're just trying to get to the next instanced dungeon before you pass out and suddenly the game throws out a story battle thats not really a battle or rather isnt even about the battle but something else and hey there's a timer--no pressure. But yeah figure this one out fast--whoops, you died. Sorry. Pay more attention to our vague hints as to what needs to be done and you might want to figure out how you died. Probably some new mech or attack you havent seen or arent expecting. Great story, right?
Yeah. Hate all of those. Hated them since HW.
You want to make stealth/survival a thing for actual content? Cool. I won't do it unless its absolutely necessary because I came here to play an MMORPG. Not MGS. Its the reason I wont do Bozja and are still stuck in Pyros. And the reason why no Tomb Raider made currently will ever be bought by me. Ever.
I am a BLM main. I don't sneak. I don't do survival stuff. I kill stuff. With fire. Sometimes while dodging. I feel you on this one. It was by far the worst one yet.
In From The Cold is one of the best parts of Endwalker.
