Make solo versions of raids

IMO there is no reason not to, let’s have a look:

- MSQ (majority of the game) = single player
- Open World = single Player
- Crafting = single player
- World-in-world content (Eureka & Bozja) = grouped only for convenience or necessity to be able to have enough contribution to get gold rating from Fates = single player
- PvP …. ….. good one

They have already built in NPCs to do 4-mans with and actively encourage to do deep dungeons solo through achievement, in a supposed MMO. This shows how much they think of their own game as MMO.

There is no single design aspect that would make you meet friends and/or future guild members the natural way, yet to fully get my moneys worth and finish all content, I have to magically have 7 people, people that I never met because all of the game was SP as mentioned in the first place.

This might also be the reason why there’s such a thriving RMT business around this game.

That’s why your devs should heavily consider making savages/ultimates/EX trials soloable.

So if I have this correctly.. Your idea is to try and detract further away from the concept of Multiplayer rather than something closer?

No.

Normal modes with the Trust system yes.
They did it in EW with one of them and I thought it was good for the story.
I also like the idea of just being able to insta hop in and do the fight for fun too.

With that said I actually do think that they should have some kind of a training mode for Savage and EX.
Both because there might be parts I want to practice myself but also because holy *insert a billion curse words here* I am so sick and tired of people failing the easiest mechanics ever and there would be no excuse if people could practice them by themselves.
The numbers in second circle in particular, I have no idea how so many countless people could fail so hard at that in clear or post third arrows groups.
It was one of the most infuriating experiences ever and it rly made me wish there was a mode where people could practice it alone because maybe that'd decrease the amount of people failing so hard at it.

There shouldn't be any rewards for it, but just a mode where you could pick a mechanic and the boss wouldn't one-shot you ( except for that mechanic ) and you had npc's with you doing it too so you could practice.
The npc's shouldn't just always do it 100% correct tho they should ultimately do it correctly but it could be a bit random and some of them could fumble a bit before and only arrive at the correct location in the last second to better simulate real players.
Otherwise people would just know to run to where the npc's are/ aren't.

There's a reason that's an achievement; because it wasn't meant for you to do it like that, but the devs want to acknowledge people who go the extra mile. This is game design 101.

Every game has RMT, because it's next-to-impossible to police. WoW, having been around and popular for much longer than FFXIV, never really solved RMT, and had to add the WoW Token as a way to combat it.

I'm all for the solo experience but I don't think raids should become part of that. If they want to add a Story mode like Castrum Meridianum and The Praetorium that is easy mode and shows you all the story aspect for the raid and queueable I would not see a problem in that. But just to be able to go in a solo raids would not be a good idea.

Be that as it may, just because the story events are specific to them doesn't mean that the world is singleplayer. There are FATES, gathering, Hunts, Leves, and a lot of quests that don't have to involve only one person.

MMO = Massive Multiplayer Online game.

Is the game massive? I'd say so. It has a very large world and story to play through.

Is it multiplayer? Yep, there is definitely more than 1 person playing the game right now.

Is it online? Yes, you do in fact need an internet connection in order to play.

I'd say this game fits the bill perfectly. There's no supposed about it.

If anything they should cut it out with the solo duties. I hate questing with a friend or being in a party with someone chilling out to then have to drop my group to do a scenario.

Let us do them together. Or at the very least make it so we don't have to drop group just to do a single quest.

Instead of making the game even more single player, they should encourage group play, or at the very least not discourage it.

I don't feel like that's viable with pretty much all of them having mechanics that just require a bunch more players, but adding an explorer mode would be pretty cool, some of the scenes are really pretty.

They have a trust trial in endwalker for the first time... its possible to add trust versions of all other fights, just would take forever to implement... i think all content will have trust versions at some point in the distant future. This will be once the servers have shut down and they can just sell the game as a single player game.

I would love that, mostly for savage content etc. Either have a trust version or a solo version. It's too difficult finding a static for my irregular hours that isn't vicious and toxic. Way too much work. I don't want to no-life this game either. Not everything needs to be solo. But ESO has a couple of solo arenas and they are my favorite. Wish this game had things like that and trusts for savage. I'd like the trust savage version to be much harder than with people since you're working with trust npcs. It'll never happen, but it'd be great.

Imagine not playing Blue Mage. Yuck.

Second. There's a Trust version of the Memoria Misera trial as part of the ShB relic quests. On the other hand, that trial has no Normal mode, just the one-shot Trust and the Extreme mode.

I think it healthy to at least require grouping with other players for normal mode. It can help a person get over their fears.

I feel like it's impractical to take that approach for savage content as it stands right now; savage is really not just testing your ability to execute mechanics, but your ability to do so in cooperation with seven other people. Hence why, unlike normal-mode/story-mode content, savage raids will often have mechanics where if any one person is dead or executes wrong, it has the potential to nuke the entire party. Moreover, half of prog is figuring out how you as a group can best execute a given mechanic -- there's usually more than one strat to handle things, after all -- and that would be nearly impossible to do with trusts, who will pretty much always execute any given mechanic in a single way.

I do actually agree it might be interesting to have solo content with savage-level mechanics (i.e., attacks with short telegraphs -- if they have any at all -- and where the mechanics can be like a puzzle to solve, etc.) -- and potentially also rewards worth grinding for -- but I think you'd have to approach designing solo content of that type with a different mindset than they come at current savage with; it could be neat, but it wouldn't just be "the ability to run savage content with trust NPCs".

While this is very true, I'd actually be all over an "ex/savage ONLY" trust thing. With zero rewards.
I am such a slow learner that I'd need something like 700 pulls to learn a boss, and having a trust version would let me practice it without endlessly frustrating other players who'd be stuck waiting for me to learn while the rest have it down perfectly.

It obviously has its own issues though.
Like potentially eliminating the concept of learning runs because "lol just trust it"

i am not sure if it's said by yoshida or a fan made statement but i hear people always saying this game is an rpg before it's an mmorpg , so i don't see why not add the solo option , and i am always for more solo content .
i think this gives the game more diversity? if you want to play solo go for it if you want to play with real humans then do it .

I am in the boat of "No" on this one. But trust encounters with no loot/tomes that teach mechanics? I'd be fine with that. Treat as non canon, us going in with illusions of our friends. Something, something the Echo.

I've been going back and soloing the ARR and Heavensward dungeons and trials on Hard and EX. Yeah yeah it's old content and we can be way overgeared for it now, but some are quite challenging alone. I've made it up to Containment Bay EX and got blocked, it needs a tank with ya for sure, maybe plus a healer.

The old Raids can be entered alone to and can prove a challenge! Alexander 1, 2, and 3 are pretty okay once you get used to em but Alex 4 solo can take some hard work the first few times. Coils of Bahamut too, you can totally try those alone, and can prove challenging, especially the final one till you get a feel of the mechanic.

So IDK what else to suggest haha. If it's solo versions of the 8+8+8 raids, I just don't think that can literally work the way theyre designed, even if you can do the DPS needed. So many have parts where each group has to stand on their own pad or go down their own path, kill their own boss, etc etc.
