Please combine the HP/MP/Class bars/gauges into a single, nicer-looking HUD element

If there's one thing that makes my life a living hell in FFXIV, it's trying to manage the UI. And nothing makes that a bigger pain in the belt-slot than having to try to move the Class-bars arounds for EVERY. SINGLE. JOB.

The shame is, I often wind up converting them into "Simple gauges" in the UI, simply because it's the only way to get things to look relatively uniform for all jobs. But you also miss out on some sweet, sweet art elements because of that.

Frankly, I would just like to see SOME means of cleaning up the HUD/UI space, by combining all of those elements into a single HUD element. Something that automatically, neatly organizes all your bars and resources, and in such a manner you can either opt for the "Simple", minimalist bars, or something that really suits your Job's aesthetic.

But that no matter which one you pick, it would all occupy the same space, regardless of Job.

As a huge fan of Action games in generally, I'm mentally-trained to look to the top-left of the screen to see my HP and resources. So having all my bars there, in a NEAT, pixel-perfect organized fashion would be a godsend.

Please pass this on to the Devs, because man, do I hate having to switch between EVERY SINGLE JOB when I want to move things around a little...

I wish you had alternative group windows, alternative mini-maps, alternative target info selection windows, and more.

never found it a "living hell" personally. I dont need "art elements" on the bars, I just want to see my hp/mp

if you want thing to all exist in the same space... you are aware you can set different looks for different jobs? they could likely do with a few more presets mind you,

you CAN move things to the top left if thats what you want.

not sure why the devs need to put time in on something you can do in the editor and save as a template

That's the one downside of not having an addon system for your game. There are so many great addons out there for WoW. Especially for the UI.

I'd really enjoy it if FF14 became more like Dark Age of Camelot. DAoC had a highly customizable UI without most of the functional tools prevalent in WoW that caused drama.

Moving job gauges around is not an arduous task at all.

On the contrary; it ABSOLUTELY is. Because not all Job Gauges are the same, not even REMOTELY. And unfortunately, even with the "grid-snap" function, not all of the windows line-up perfectly. Case in point; if you try to align any Class-gauge underneath the HP/MP bars, you'll notice they're off-center, by just a couple of pixels.

To me, that kind of stuff is infuriating. It can take several minuted just trying to get ONE BAR to have pixel-perfect alignment with another. But as is the case with the Reaper, sometimes different Jobs wind up having dramatically different "gauges", which COMPLETELY changes the way your layout has to look.

I think a bigger UI issue is that you still aren't able to separate your debuffs from other players debuffs. You only have the option to turn off other players debuffs, which is terrible because it also removes Trick Attack from being visible. A UI option to separate your debuffs from other players was long over due imo.

Also an option to hide the MP bar would be nice. Some job literally don't use it. I would like to remove the MP off my WAR so I can overlay the beast gauge in its spot.

Looks like everyone is level 50 without being sync'd. And the DRG in the pic is locked at level 50. So ARR era screenshot, probably on a PS3. However, there are no class bars since they didn't exist. OP just pulled that screenshot from google images to try to make their argument.

First of all—this image hurts me. You literally can’t see ANYTHING. WHY IS EVERYTHING SO BIG.

Second of all—most of the HUDs I’ve seen in streams and the like don’t look like this. This is obviously an extreme example. And quite an old one—looks like it’s from maybe early HW, given the buffs/skills present.

I don't think the issue here is the functions of the UI. It's your hardware or your own UI layout based on that screenshot. That's just painful. How you can see ANYTHING at all is beyond me. My only suggestions are get a bigger monitor/TV screen or shrink your UI down to a reasonable size.

50 is ARR. The 0/xxxx experience shows when you hit max level, if you look the bar itself has some exp on it.

I believe there are addons to modify your UI. I've seen screenshots of one that reminded me of ElvUI.

The only difference from default is the added horizontal bar and the vertical bar on the corner, and this player increased the height of their chat box a little.

If you install the game today and set it to match your resolution you'll get this full pack, including the duty list overpowering the item grid, the enemy list on top of the last party member and the limit break gauge hiding your buffs.

Probably, yeah, if you're playing at 800x600. And if you're playing back in 2013.

The screenshot was for comedic effect, but I would point out that actually is MOSTLY what the default UI looks like.

I definitely think we need a tidy-looking default UI, maybe even multiple pre-sets to choose from (might not be terrible to offer a WoW-like UI preset, for those migrating over), and like I said; PLEASE have things line-up *EXACTLY* when using the grid-snap feature. Also, which to HP/MP bars have a different font than Job gauges?

Honestly, I think they should just combine all of the Job gauge stuff into the HP/MP bars, ensuring that whether you want that cool-looking art, or simple gauges, that they'll always occupy the same space. Would be even better if you could line-up the Limit Break bars with them, too.

Speaking of; that's another super frustrating thing, you can't always SEE your HUD elements when customizing them.

Honestly this is a really tidy default UI. Only thing different is hotbars 3/4 are visible.

Most people I see have a UI that looks close to the default with the only difference being the hotbars are closer together, their buffs and debuffs are in a location where their eyes can rest easily, and the duty finder is smaller or higher up.

I would honestly hate to have the HP/MP bar tied with my Job gauge elements, because I don't necessarily NEED to see my HP/MP as much as I need to see my Job gauge elements.

Maybe this is already an option, but at least for HP/MP there could perhaps be a setting to combine them vertically instead of horizontally when playing around with your HUD. You can already set your Job gauge to Simple Mode (90% of the Jobs I play have the Job gauge(s) watered down to Simple Mode bars, just not AST). I get you OP, the more horizontal orientation of those gauges was troublesome for me to get used to at first as well. Can already move and hide things about. HP/MP should be separable IMO.

you could clearly see there's still TP bar there, and it already discontinued last expansion,
and we have some improvement on HUD customization since then

can you just post your own screen instead of some random super old screenshot that already obsolete ?

I barely look down there save to check for procs out of the corner of my eye and to look at my Job gauge ahah. I use an mmo mouse so everything is laid out exactly how my keys are on my mouse, ao I know where pretty much everything is.

It gives me more screen space to see the fight going on!
