On the subject of company worth and the semiconductor shortage, I think its important to note that it has actually impacted many industries, Sony is worth a lot more than Square and is also having a ton of trouble getting components, as are many car manufacturers. The chip shortage goes back as far as September of last year.
Not that you should blindly believe company PR, you shouldn't, but its definitely also important to understand the issues in the industry.
Why do people keep bringing the car industry example? Have you paid for a car in advance and had the car not delivered to you because "conductor shortage"? Did you really go "oh well *shrugs* covid and stuff i guess" and carried on without the car you paid for without raising a single complaint?
I don't believe you.
The chip shortage is a very real problem, and while we'd like to think its a matter of throwing money at a problem to fix it, that's simply not the case.
I think you made the right decision in cancelling your subscription. If the game isn't worthwhile because of the queues, then that is your call to make. FFXIV will be here if/when you want to return, and hopefully by then the problem will be resolved. Hope you find other ways to relax and entertain yourself in the interim.
The Greatest Argument anybody can ever think of.....along with the bold statement of "They can just do it"
But look, if your not a Liar....good. Because that Unsub speaks bigger volumes then sitting here like several dosen other people just crying about they are upset and talk like they know better then the devs & company.
Besides the fact you actually did it and not make an empty threat....Unsubbing will effect Revenue which will make the Problem that much bigger.
I personally believe they are WELL AWARE of the issues and are doing their best. But the Actual threat to revenue might make them push a little harder.
Stay Safe :3
The games cheap . My second family owned a company like this 1 bill to hilfiger
Because the chip shortage in the automotive industry is well documented? Nobody is saying "Well I wouldnt expect to get a car I paid for right now either!" they're saying "News reports from multiple companies, sometimes in different industries, confirm what Square are saying about it being difficult to get new servers."
By all means be angry at Square if you want, but if you want to deny the existence of a well documented semiconductor shortage then you're doing yourself a massive disservice by denying reality.
This is not a comparison and you have been willfully dense about it.
The point was that the auto industry, which is usually considered more important and more profitable in a global standard, is one of many industries visibly suffering from the semi conductor shortage. The point brought up was that industries far and wide are clamoring for the same item and not getting them, so expecting SE to magically get some just to fix their terrible server situation is bound to disappoint you.
I’m mad that SE did what every company does and sat in the margins after ShB, I think it was lazy and put the dev team in a bad situation now. And I’m frustrated that a lot of the communication has been, quite frankly, vague for how they usually communicate; but I think they’re in panic mode. I just don’t think they can fix this at this point.
It might seem unacceptable (and it usually would be), but sometimes harsh reality is harsh reality and no amount of anger will solve it.
… And while I personally didn’t pre-order a car, I unfortunately know quite a few… let’s call them “suckers” to be nice, that actually did. One person still hasn’t gotten their Rav-4 yet and they ordered in June lmao.
The people creating these posts really need to grow up. How can you feel that there is some big conspiracy from SE to hurt you? Especially using the "they don't care because they want to save money" argument. If you really believe that, then unsub. Don't give them anymore money. Stop coming to the forum and spouting your nonsense about them lying of the semiconductor shortage. If you really have to start using insults and lies yourself to defend your outrage, it is clear that this situation is too stressful for you and you need to take a break from it.
im getting tired of reading these posts, Square Enix is doing all they can with whats currently going on in the world. if you dont like it nobody is forcing you to play the game, could always i dont know play other games until this calms down in a month. ive managed to get reaper to 90 and fully geared with primal drops and everything so its not impossible
Ok so, if you work (like most people) and/or have limited gaming time and can only log in at peak hours (when everyone else who gets off work logs on) then it’s understandably very frustrating and it feels like you’re paying for a service you are not getting, so I don’t blame you for wanting to unsub at this point.
It’s understandable that the first few days of a new expansion has bad queues, but almost 2 weeks after? It seems like more action should be being taken at this point, rather than just hoping the queues will organically sort themselves out. But then again, is there really any pressure for them to do more?
Optimising code (so they can run servers less hot and handle more connections), speeding up queue times, stabilising/reliability of the client so it stops doing 2002 errors. I can’t see any more maintenance time being scheduled in for more patching, etc.
It's only gonna get slammed again when the new raid & savage shows up. Wouldn't expect to see a slowdown until people start getting their clears there in January/February.
Did they mention when they'll try and help the queues? I really wouldn't like to "wait until it dies down" because it isn't lol.
I got a job too. 8.30am-5.30pm on weekdays. I'm well prepared before EW launch. Past experience of xpac launches from great MMOs helps. On top of that, there are news about shortages and big jump on population for FF14. I got multiple plans to get into shorter queue. No issue for me since day 2. I've been using remote desktop or teamviewer to queue before coming back home and looks like it is enough.
I tried that too this week with Remote Play on PS4 but you still have to be able to jump on it every time it disconnects you so you don't lose your queue, and it still doesn't solve the problem you are waiting for 3 hrs+ to play a game for 1 hr before bedtime. Not giving up on this game, as i've been playing it since Beta, but most posts i see here reflect the player frustration i also feel.
It will level off eventually, but i think it will be March by the time that happens, and that is 3 months most players that only play during peak hours will never get back.
If the OCE data center goes live in February as originally planned, that'll alleviate some of the pressure, but not much. Some AU players have said they play on NA and just deal with the awful pings.
It would at least give new players someplace to make characters, which many can't even do right now.
You do understand that there are global supply shortages on materials right now, right?
This isn't a "We're too lazy/ broke to make new servers" issue. It's a "We can't get parts" issue.
Grow up.
Log in when you get home, go have dinner while you're in queue and play after.
I have no problems playing after work.
Ps. I'm not sad to see people like this leave. Goodbye.
Again, this is all dependent on server and time everyone happens to log in.
The queue times start pretty early around 2PM for me and it's 1k queue and an hour wait.
2PM for 1 hour queue is kind long for a weekday.
I feel bad for those in the west coast. Probably never had a chance to play lol.
This is ridiculous and people have to right to be upset even with SE giving us the run down
and the shortage issues, but they are band-aid fixes like the AFK daily kick which they haven't done yet.
Right now, sitting here and doing nothing, hoping people unsub just so "one less person in the queue" is terrible.
Just hope for a fix soon or some sort.
Except they don't.
It's not a problem they can throw money at to fix it. Though they are prepared to throw money at it because they have budgeted more than they need to in order to try and secure new servers.
However, Square Enix is not a semi-conductor manufacturer nor do they manufacture server parts. So they have to buy them. And the current lead time according to alternative sources is 52 to 70 weeks. This is because of the global shortage. Square Enix isn't the only one affected and companies even bigger than them are feeling the sting. Money doesn't solve all problems.
Unsubbing is fine, the game will still be here when the congestion dies down and you can get in more easily.
they need to stop advertising the game then.
selling a game they know people cannot play is a dirtbag move.
although it comes in a second when compared to the fact that the only plan they have to deal with congestion is hoping that people quit out of frustration.
Like most people, yeah.
Goodbye then I guess.
This is not a normal and typical congestion due to new expansion we are seeing in the past.
This is congestion created by new expansion, WoW exodus and chip shortage caused by Covid 19
If US is not troubled by the division of vaccine, the situation of Covid 19 should be under control like China/S. Korea, and Japan (US is part of this semiconductor supply chain)
Too bad, 50% of US still refuse to take vaccine and travel restriction still goes on that deeply impacting this supply chain.
This is what I am doing during this period time as someone working 9 to 5.
Do all the chores and dinner with family but sleep early around 9 PM or 10 PM.
Setup que and go to sleep (que usually is around 3k around this time frame and less chance to encounter 2002)
Wake up at 12 AM and play to 3 AM then get more sleep and wake up for work.
I still manage to reach moon and lvl 86 at this point.
I know it is not ideal, but at least it is what you can do until que condition improved
Don't bother of demanding of SE to provide server out of no where, because realistically, they are in high demand by the market and SE is not the potential buyer
I'm going to have to unsubscribe in January. Mine has already been taken out for December. But I'm paying not to play. It's not their fault but until they are able to fix the errors and login queues, it's just a bad situation and I wish them the best. I hope they get more servers before the next expansion.
Semiconductor shortage is just BS, its a lame excuse.
As my previous post: For EU and NA the servers are leased, for EU I know for a fact there in Frankfurt Germany, and is the very same server company that provide servers for 100's if not 1000's of publishers in the EU, WoW, Tera, Rift..practically all the EU servers for games published in the EU are from the same company, which now makes you think, if more people are playing FFXIV and not other games the overall load on servers is still the same as before Endwalker, for every player not playing X game is now playing Y instead = still same load on servers.
Currently for EU this is not a high load time of year, the severs are no were near "full" and they ALWAYS have a safe, standard load limit with options to "boost" for high load times, server capacity is down to how much server capacity Square have leased, they could increase but obviously at an extra cost, clearly they dont want to do that, its their choice and the game currently is suffering for it, next week it will get worse for sure xmas week more people of work, school etc, but this is all squares fault, they preferer not to spend any of the huge influx of revenue they've been getting lately
No problems playing here with a full time job.
/shrug.
People say this and that, but the point is when you want to play you can't without jumping through hoops or basically boting or using a remote desktop and the majority of players are just going to unsub and play something else. It's not their fault and it's not the player's. That being said it is an issue. An issue that if just left alone will fester into something worse. People have every right to complain regardless of how petty it may seem to the outliers who can actually play. Are there people taking it to far? Absolutely, but they're just frustrated. Some want attention and that goes both ways, but nevertheless just let people vent. Your perfect game will survive that. Trust me.
actually, I do the same.
its called working from home, which is a big thing now because of Covid, which incidentally also helped cause the chip shortage people talk about thats affecting multiple industries.
I get time in, do some crafting, then have an afternoon nap, then log back in through a 3600 person queue to play with my friends. so it isnt impossible. 2002 error? nope, havent seen at all after teh last login server maintenance, and only saw occasionally even prior to that. so, its not BS. its very doable. sure the playing with friends can take a couple hours to get to, but its worth it and I am patient, so... yeah.. definitely not BS
I get home after 4pst, which is 7est. I had a 3800 login queue yesterday. I got on in about 2 and a half hours. Made dinner, ate dinner, and finished a project for one of my classes
I just started and I bought the entire expansion and EW. I know I'm not going to be playing a lot since I work a lot of hours, but I chose to support SE because it brings me joy and great childhood nostalgia. Sure, I can only play 2 hours a day on weekdays and a little more on weekends when I'm able, but I know the game will be there when I log in. It is a privilege and I have a good disposable income. I imagine it all evens out since I used to play Final Fantasy 1-12 all day long with literally no sleep. Pick your battles. We'll still be here when you decide to come back.
