Square is a 2 billion dollar company. They have every capability to make their game accessible for folks to play. This isn't an indie dev studio. Very upsetting.

Meanwhile. The only times that this game is accessible is during work hours. Been playing Final Fantasy since Heavensward and never seen these guys fumble a launch like this.
If I can't play the game when I am available to play it, then I have no choice but to un-sub. Maybe once this rush is over, I'll be able to continue playing. Its very sad. People are saying Square is unable to update their servers. I would like to say you're naive if you think that. This company is worth 2 billion dollars.
I'll be back when the smoke clears. Toxic positivity is going to be the downfall of this game. Stop accepting BS guys.
With a full-time job and a family, has been able to play every day without issue.
Have a good one.
actually, I do the same.
its called working from home, which is a big thing now because of Covid, which incidentally also helped cause the chip shortage people talk about thats affecting multiple industries.
I get time in, do some crafting, then have an afternoon nap, then log back in through a 3600 person queue to play with my friends. so it isnt impossible. 2002 error? nope, havent seen at all after teh last login server maintenance, and only saw occasionally even prior to that. so, its not BS. its very doable. sure the playing with friends can take a couple hours to get to, but its worth it and I am patient, so... yeah.. definitely not BS
Ahh so it's the black death 2.0's faultactually, I do the same.

Of all the things I've lost... I miss my mind the most!
I have a full time job with a 1 hour commute plus grocery shopping. I leave the house at 8.30am, come back at 7pm, spend time with hubby and go to sleep around 10. In the morning I have 2.5 hours to shower, get ready and eat breakfast while I play (or a bit more if I wake up before my alarm) which is plenty on a weekday. My queue this morning was 15 seconds long.
People waste their own time queuing late at night and complain about "muh circadian rhythm" every time I suggest they be smart about it. Well not my problem, enjoy the queues. /shrug

I would love to know what this looks like. Do you work a 9-5? Do you have someone who is capable of logging you in before you get home? There are people out there who work during the day who get home during peak time and maybe only have a couple of hours of free time before they have to head to bed. I got home from work at 5:30pm est yesterday, hopped into the queue, had to babysit it for 2 and a half hours and was able to play from 8:30-9:30 and then got ready for bed.

I literally work a 9-5 in engineering. About 30 minutes to an hour before I get off work, I log in to my playstation from my smart phone using the remote app and get in line. Usually ready about the time I get home. You can do with this with PC too using a free program called google remote desktop (there are many free remote desktop apps though) Same principle applies if im going to get food, shopping or anything really. Login a few hours before you plan to play and check the queue on your phone from time to time.
So far since the launch of the expansion, I have had to deal with a period of time that I wanted to play and could not, once. That was on the first Saturday night after launch. I had a single disconnect.
On my days off, I wake up and join the queue then go do chores/other things and check it periodically.
