Honestly super impressive. A whole week of free play time, and also clarifying what the errors mean.
Also, big oof, 10 to 12 hours of congestion for NA/EU. Hopefully the measure they can take to at least prolong the queue session will help a little bit, but obviously there's only so much they can do with a packed login server.
It’s good they done it, but I do hope they give more. Since launch I have been able to log in once. Going by queue times, I won’t be able to again for the next few days.
What really infuriates me though was tonight finally being able to get in and being greeted by an army of AFK people in Limsa. They need to do something about those assholes.
If this Carries on for the next few weeks I won’t be able to justify the sub. I don’t have a spare two hours a night to queue for a game.
No point in free time compensation if you can't even play the game
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Myself and many other people are getting a 3001 error, which they don't even mention.
Error 3001 for 6 plus hours. Can’t login on main but can login on other characters. And no info about it.
Seriously asking: does this include extending the additional retainers I pay alongside my sub ?
7 free days of waiting in a queue, I m so happy.
I mean, I've been playing off and on all day with very reasonable queues.. but if that's how you want to spend the 7 days, go for it?
Well, snark and hyperbole aside, have you tried logging into an alternate world in the login screen? It's faster to go to an alt world at random then transfer to your main one once inside. You'll have to queue for it, but usually at most 15-20 min of marketboard/retainer nonsense and you're home.
It's fair.
Free game time until the congestion is resolved is leaking profits, but it's the correct thing to do. I just hope they can do something about the servers at some point in the near future, waiting for it to die down is merely hoping their player base dwindles enough that the issues vanish. They're having massive success right now and they literally can't hold onto it thanks to lack of server capacity. That's a major hit for any company.
Four days in queue so far with total 3 hours played in game. Compensation is good but only when you’re able to play at least. Sadly, but I do not see much changes with queues so far.
Since I joined FF only on august 2021 I believe there are people who experienced the launch of other expansions – were such server problems in every launch?
What's happening is the giant swath of "locust" players are burning through the new content as fast as they can. Once they're done, they'll leave till the next installment. Once they have, servers will likely be at manageable levels again. There really is no "lost" capacity as far as retaining players happening... well.. there's probably a few disappointment quits but not enough to warrant investment in enough architecture to support launch/release levels year round.
While I'm sure the company wishes this surge would be permanent, it very likely wouldn't be even if the servers were robust enough to support it. That's how launches and releases go.
They HAVE however stated that as soon as their preferred server expansion paths are open again, they're raring to go on that front.
let's hope they could fix the 2002, no free sub would help if the 2002 error persist
It's just a band-aid. They should check their new afk system and maybe suspend free-trial.
Both are already in effect. Free trial players can't even get in the queue/make a new character and most, if not all, afk measures do not work anymore. I tried personally last night with one and woke up to the login screen.
The reality is they need more servers to combat the flood of people that came over during the WoW situation. Keep in mind, this happened during a massive chip shortage that is still affecting everyone. People saying they should have "predicted" this need to realize that the boom in population was completely unexpected and I don't blame them at all for not having servers just chilling in a corner waiting for use. There was also nothing they could have done at the time (or now for that matter) to get new servers because of that shortage. It's simply really awful timing.
You guys are still whining despite most developers wouldn't have even given you any free time, maybe a day at most. The queues will settle down soon within a week.
This is a great response imo. Hopefully things will die down a bit once the weekend is over
I believe it is the 2002 that frustrate us, long queue are expected.
I don't know what other MMO you play, but more than half of the MMO I play offer compensation in someway. As I mention earlier it is the 2002 that warrant the free sub.
EU DC suffer most severely, a quick look at NA and JP DC they might have queue but many of them have spot for new character while EU have always been congest long before EW launch
They're literally paying you back for an entire week of not being able to play. And made it clear that if congestion continues, they may further compensate players. Which, given previous expansions, they expect congestion to die down in due course. And it will. A week might not be enough this time, but we'll see.
Free time is not a compensation for me since i'm paying every month ....discount on my next billing is better. This is something i can see.
Otherwise exp boost is real compensation for the time lost for pre-ordering something i cannot enjoy and time lost wating in the queue. Because more time to play will not refund me the lost time in my exp schedule.
Lol if you think the queues will get better in a week. If anything they gonna get worse, and then even worse with the raids launch.
The only real solution are
A) upgrade the servers, but that costs money
B) ban AFK people
Again, the issue is still not resolved and will probably get worse next week. If EA was such a mess, official launch will only be worse. It really is not that hard to understand really.
I dont think I say a 7 day free sub is not enough, just pointing out the 2002 (especially in EU DC) warrant the free sub they giving.
I think the dev is doing the right thing for giving out free sub for situation like this. However, I dont think the queue would get any significant better in 1 week, especially we are close to X'mas. All I want is a fix for the 2002. I would certainly pick a fix for 2002 over free sub.
We were expecting some news to fix the 3 hours queue login ... this compensation does not solve the current problem.
all the people asking the devs to upgrade the servers... they literally can't! they have a chip shortage which won't resolve any time soon. so expect the que to be up for at least a month. true gamers will deal with it, if u can't then stop wasting your time on queing for a videogame and spent time in the real world.
Its telling what SE thinks of their "customers" when they don't even account for how many hours people have wasted babysitting their que incase it decides to error out. Yeah really happy about your 2 dollar "compensation"
if you don't want your free 7 days can you and everyone else that feels the same please petition square to instead gift it to me ? for petes sake, it's day 3 of addon release (yes, early access is the full release no matter how you slice it), the login queues indeed are an issue but how a lot of people want it handled is the purest form of entitlement.
