Sincere Recommendation: Accept you will not be able to play, walk away for a while

Huge fan of the game, was able to get in every early in the AM but logged out cause I had to work, seriously annoyed :mad: Consider the boundary conditions of the login problem:

1. More product has been sold than can be delivered.
2. Infrastructure improvements to help deliver the oversold product is not possible due to supply chain issues.
3. Competition to log in will only increase immediately after early access.
4. To avoid queues, players will not log out. Auto logout is easily bypassed by staying in dialogue with an NPC, auto running into a wall (not tested), macro keys, etc.

The situation will not improve anytime soon. By no means am I supporting that this is an acceptable or excusable situation. I am making an appeal to fellow fans who are getting frustrated by waiting and waiting to get in. Don't do it, your time is too valuable.

Selling a product and then effectively saying, "by the way there will be issues with providing what we sold you but hey we warned you" is a morally bankrupt way to conduct business. Clearly, commercial interests and bottom line sales were prioritized. Apologies are a cheap way to make money, they don't cost anything.

If you are frustrated, walk away, there is no solution. Don't waste your valuable free time and energy friends. Come back and enjoy the game another day ... week?

from what i heard, the usual circumvention like talking to npc, busy, hud, and crafting no longer work. havent tried running into wall yet

But I have no issues logging on and playing on my server.

Only takes me a couple minutes to get in.

That was very well said.

The big issue is going to be raiding, with the premium this game places on getting there right from the start ...

So pretty much endgame participation will be a lottery then, luck of getting enough good queues or having a WFH job so you can just semi-idle all day or you'll be too far behind to be considered by the time you do limp into endgame? That's what it's starting to look like to me at least.

And now that I actually have Tuesdays off, I might've been in a decent position to give Savage another whirl :(

Took me 2.5 hours to log into Zal earlier. So no OUR server is not always that great.

Returning player after about 6 years here. I tried to log in at 2:45pm CST with a 3.5K queue... waited 2+ hours with 500ish more to go. Then 2002 hit which kicked me & I lost my place in line. The second attempt queue was 6K waited again & at 4.5K got another 2002. From there it took 8 logins attempts from the client just to reach the queue that was now at 7.5K. Tried to get a refund, but the payment was processed yesterday & thanks to their ToS they don't have to give me my money back. While my $15 bucks it's that much money it's all the other $15 buck the millions of other players are losing out on that is pissing me off. They should give back anyone's sub fee who asks until this bull crap is fixed.

Yesterday evening i tried to log in at 10,30 pm CET, i had a queue of 6500+ and gave up after 1 hour (i have to work today). Since i have started playing the game, this is my first new expansion launch experience, for how long should i expect this kind of situation? I mean, i can play for 2-3 hours in the evening during week days, 2 hours queues are simply not feasible for me, will this really last for a month?

Well from what I've been reading more people than ever in the history of the game are trying to log in, but they didn't add any new servers & now they can't buy anymore. It's a cop-out though because they should've bought some right as covid hit since they knew more money was on the horizon just from people having nothing to do not to mention their expansion being only a year or so away... it's not like they already had BILLIONS of dollars sitting around or anything... nope SE just runs on bare-bones... lul.

"Good News" it looks like you can log in sometime around 2-3 am or so CST... "Bad News" if you work you're probably asleep... "Great News" you most likely won't be able to log in when you get home... "Worse News" you have to sleep before you go back to work... "Excellent News" you have to do hard drugs if you want to play this game any time soon!!!

Yes.. because the chip shortage wasn't happening (it was) and they could have easily predicted that the biggest MMO in existence was about to flub their new expansion and patches so badly (and go through a huge scandal with it's culture and management) it would drive a large chunk of their user base to other games, flooding the login as never before.

Yikes, lots of excuses for scummy practices tbh, similar to airline companies.

Timing is really crucial imo. I got 900 queue in the early morning, and only a 50 queue midday. However, I got an almost 3000 queue round 9pm where I live. That's around primetime i guess. Problem is getting constantly kicked with 2002 and losing your place in line. I wanted to show my sister the game when she came home from a long day of her work. Literally couldn't. Primetime will probably keep getting worse and my internet likes to d/c me sometimes since its garbage. So prime just wont be playable for me for a long time sadly.

But yeah, this morning the queue for me was very small, but it'll get really bad as the day progresses .

It's also horrible seeing the queue stay the same for 10 to 20 mins because of afkers. Have no idea why they don't implement COMPLETE measures to stop afking. Other mmos I've played have almost zero problem with afkers.`

Edit: I'm glad they have taken care of a few afk methods, but I HIGHLY doubt that will stop veteran afkers from finding plenty of workaround "fixes".

To my understanding previous means to avoid afk kick no longer work.

yes it sadly is the players problem. where the protest? where the demand of a compensation? there non. so where is the part SE care? you did payed for the game there nothing SE need form you after this.

I can be sympathetic and understanding, but at the end of the day they're a business selling a product and they're not entitled to have all their paying customers just sit there in queues happily. I can also understand someone being unhappy and if they silently took their money elsewhere, they have full right to.

It's concerning because they may lose some players. Also since it seems they just can't get hold of semi-conductors or more server capacity, it means they literally have a limit on how much playerbase they can hold. Which means there's a limit on how successful the expansion can be, because if it was too successful the servers would choke again and they'd bleed players until it went back down to the limit.

That's a shame really, it's a big opportunity for the game and it might slip through their fingers.

I know a certain company with a dead mmo that could probably afford to sell some servers to pay for their lawyers lmao maybe SE should give them a call

Good I didn't buyed 6 months subscription, only for 1 month. Only 13 euro wasted, I can watch now changing queue numbers and error 2002 every few hours.

Huge problem with SE its that they never ever compensate players for their incompetence in terms of money/items/free stuff 0 nothing. Just be honest the majority bought the expansion because Early Access, half of the people (like me) gonna have to wait 1-2 weeks to even get a reasonable gaming experience without DC's or waiting 3-5 hours to log in.

Hey SE what about a free Fantasia, or just gift SOMETHING for ONCE to your dearest player base that pay 15 usd monthly because some other companies always gives free stuff to players for even suscribe to Twitch or vote for them in Awards, if the maintenance takes to long etc.

When they can get their hands on some servers things will improve, once more people finish msq and play a bit less things will also improve. People acting like other MMO's major releases all go off without a single issue, esp after such a surge in playerbase.

I agree with OP, I've already been considering it but if I can't log in today, I'm likely going to unsub for a month, explore some other alternative games to see if there's anything else out there I like more, and if not try again in January.

So far I'm going on day 3 of not being able to log in at all. I pay to play this game because it's stress relief, it's something I use to take my mind away from work/responsibilities/life etc., so whenever I can't actually play it then I find something else to do with the little time I have to play. As it is, I'm not going to wait 2-3hrs for a queue since I only have 2-3hrs to play at a time...

lol, Actually, yeah, as someone who works in software / hardware production, I honestly do want companies to stop overselling their products and actually support what they put out in the world. Not whatever this current silliness is. Their "best" can be a lot better, and thinking otherwise of a literal billion dollar company that's practically drowning in funds right now is disconcerting.

staying in convo with an npc does not work anymore. I had to step away for a bit last night for some IRL stuff during a text convo with thancred - and as I sat down, I got red text saying inactivity will log me out.

Im going to go play TemTem for now.
Was thinking of also renewing my PSN sub, maybe check on RDO to see if their bugs have been fixed.

Yeah that's the thing that gets me about people wanting them to throttle sales. Can you imagine the backlash? Going from being able to just buy the expansion when you wanted to to having to be one of the lucky ones who got there early? And if you don't, no expansion for you.

oh man, your're lucky, you got a queue time? dang....I'm constantly in spot 2002.

On the whole, I guess I wouldn't mind it so much sitting in queue if I didn't get kicked. To be honest I'm kinda regretting pre-paying for the expansion, might have a been a bit better to wait for a couple of months. Eh hindsight being what it is. :cool:

Except, because of the server issues, there IS no game for me. And not just for me but a lot of people. What you just described is literally happening because they oversold their product.

So it’s ok one way but not the other?

I understand the issues that come with launches of this magnitude but they shouldn't be charging us for a subscription for a game right now that we can't even access. They should suspend subscriptions for at least a month

The game has been running fine since Shadowbringers launched back in, what, 2019. The rapid implosion of World of Warcraft in 2021, and the drift of players looking for something new was not predicted back in March of 2020. Why would a major company, just at the start of a major world-wide pandemic, suddenly decide to increase the number of servers in the existing data centers when projected growth was well within bounds of the current hardware, and the continued existence of a large player base was put into doubt by events beyond the corporations control?

I've been able to put in 4 solid hours each day since the patch released. 7:30 am to 11:30 am on Friday, and 5 am to 9 am on Saturday. As have tens of thousands of other people (up to 1.156 million people if the 17,000 maximum population for each of the 68 worlds is correct).

Of course, if 1.156 million people try to log in at once, there's going to be major congestion. 26 minutes and counting. Queue dropped from 2950 to 2090.

At a guess, if 32,000 people try to log onto Gilgamesh, only 17,000 will be accommodated. Popular worlds will take more queue time.

Get up early in the morning, as in 6:30 am or so. It will be much easier to log in.

Really? Not with my job. Not with many people who WFH, I'm actually..working . Full time.. The only benefit, which is RNG is the possibility to be able to queue, and WFH isn't even required to do that either.

I wouldn't be so irritated with sitting in the long queues if I didn't get kicked. I could at least alt-tab out to a vid or something while it counted down. Kinda really regretting pre-paying for an expansion that I can't get access to unless its in the wee hours of the morning (PST). And no, I really don't feel like re-organizing my life around a game. This is only day two, but I'm already considering un-subbing for a few months till things return to a level of normalcy. To those of you with more patience, I salute you! :cool:
