You're lying punished for moving too fast and the system takes too long to register? Your ninjutsu now fails.
It seems like I have to hold back when playing as Ninja compared to other dps classes.

You have to know what you doing with Ninja or you'll get punished, that's all and i hope the Job stay like that and never get tuned down on complexity !
Too much job have become boring because they removed mech or because they didn't knew what to do with the Jobs, Ninja got spared.
My biggest issue is the server latency
There are too many times I press my Mudra slightly too quick and not register, end up getting a rabbit
Funny thing is they "fixed" mudras, use to be way way worst with latency...
my ping isn't high, not over 100m/s for sure
I could have two oGCD between each GCD in MCN, very rarely have one not being register
the issue seem to more obvious/often when using Mudra
I believe Mudra having more button to press in a quick succession (My issues are always when I use 3 Mudras) is the major cause of the issue
That.... Doesn't address the issue.
I can do much more as Dragoon without having to hold back and don't get punished for it. Such as popping off hard as Dragoon but if I do that as a Ninja my Mudra will get ruined very easily if I even have any latency issues or the game doesn't register my input fast enough.
Ninja just seems like it wasn't designed as well.
Pressing mudras too fast is a problem for exactly the reasons described. Given what I understand to be technical constraints, I think that the actual solution is to grey out mudras that have already been used.
That being said, I actually do think that the mudra system is a good, simple way of capturing the ninjutsu vibe (ala Naruto). For it's flaws, I enjoy it! (There was that one Naruto game back in the day that had you do hand seals using joystick combos - it was a lot of fun but way too twitchy for this style of MMO. The current mudra system is a good balance.)
Although I admittedly don't play Ninja much, I have never had issues with executing Mudras. The only thing I can think of is that you are maybe mashing the buttons rather than hitting them rhythmically. With the queue system for actions, it is possible that, if you mash, you could overmash and have that be counted as the queued mudra and so gets executed again. Of course, this is just speculation.
Indeed, latency is a problem, i don't know how they can fix it but at the end it's not a "Ninja problem" but your latency problem.
I have no problem doing mudra now that they improved the response of those jutsu. Again i understand your point, but they most likely will never fix it.
I mained Ninja through 2 expansion MSQs on a controller, did not find latency to be a problem at all EXCEPT for when I used an Xbox Elite Controller that introduced latency to the game. Went back to DS4 and it works fine.
Ninja before the revamp in stormblood was clunky with 0.5 sec GCD mudra and succeptible to even a little latency, which was even worse in europe during ARR and HW because the servers at that time were not in europe.
After the revamp even with a little latency (200ms) i never have problem to do mudra and it's coming from someone who only played ninja until endwalker (i also play on EU server from East coast Canada).
This used to be the case but it has changed so many times since, at this point I honestly think the problem probably lies more with you if you're messing them up.
They're not that fast there is a pretty defined tempo to it.
People shouldn't spam Mudras just look and listen to your character and note the tempo and then practice following it with two presses.
Obviously latency can be an issue, but I think that if the Mudras are a problem at this point then the latency is bad enough to just mess with the gameplay in general beyond the Mudras too.
NIN main. You can't spam mudras like you do other GCDs to get them off quicker. You gotta be really precise with your presses. Although its not the best thing to do, its just something u kinda gotta cope with o3o
They can do so much with just the four buttons currently used to input mudras and cast ninjutsu. They are not even utilizing its full potential as of right now. I laid a lot of that out in my Revised Mudra system thread, and I wonder when they will realize that they don't have to give Raijin or Hallow their own buttons. They're on to something with subsequent ninjutsu casts, which can work just like how finishers are working now and going into EW. I hope they grasp it as this would go a long way to making NIN feel less clunky, especially under the current mudra system.
Imagine how good it would feel if you could cast Katon, and combo Goka without having to use Kassatsu and mudras; even weave Hellfrog between them for just some insane Fire Style ingulfing your foes in seconds.
I think it's important for them mudras to be on the GCD in order to avoid the mess NIN used to be before they made that change. They did good a job adjusting potencies to compensate for that, but they are reducing those potencies in EW. I don't think that is the best idea under the current mudra system, but I guess we'll just have to see.
This, very much.
I can play just fine as a NIN with 160ms on good days & 250ms+ ping on bad days after getting used to the delay I had to taken account between mudras input.
At that point if I mess up it’s no longer anything about the job’s complexity or clunkiness (How is it clunky anyway…?)
Abit unrelated, but I love the *thonk thonk thonk* sound effects, hehehe.
