Will the upcoming expansion fix the hairstyles for the Viera?

Hello

I've heard some people say that the upcoming expansion will fix the hairstyles for the Viera like I'm able to wear unlockable hairstyles for the race like the pony tails or the lengths that you get from the golden saucer for example.

Is it true?

Hoping we'll see something today with the media tour releases. One can hope we'll get some news finally.

As far as I recall, they were working on hairstyles for viera (even showed pictures), and found a way to implement them easier. Should be somewhere in that one viera megathread. Just don't expect everything to be "fixed", I'd say.

They did say when they showed that image that it was a "new" hairstyle on a Viera and that there would be more, but Zepla mentioned that no new hairstyles were available in character creation in the preview she did. I assume there wasn't an aesthetician in the build they played because that's where they'd show up.

The stubble for male Midlander was also confirmed and shown already, (on a new face, so they'll have to Fantasia to get access to it) so there might be more news coming regarding hairstyles as well.

Hard to tell for sure with the stance, but are we sure this isn't a male? They would have different hairstyles.

Meoni asked about Viera and Hroth headgear/hairstyles. Yoshi P answers that they've "changed the specifications for Viera" and that we "will see more hairstyles for Viera" He doesn't specify whether that applies retroactively to existing unlockable hairstyles or just to new endwalker styles and others going forward.

I'm pretty sure it's a female Viera, but even if it wasn't that's not one of the male styles but one you can buy with MGP.

Ponytail style from the Gold Saucer – from the prize exchange at the main counter rather than the Modern Aesthetics saleswoman.

(They really need to rearrange the prize lists there so they make more sense.)

Along with ponytail from gold saurce, there were +1 additional haircuts for both male and female Viera during media tour, which weren't available in benchmark and which are standard haircuts available for other races at the moment.

It doesn't really give us a lot of info, but considering that media tour usually is very limited in content it provides, there's a chance that Viera will have some (if not all) standard haircuts upon 6.0 release along with unclear amount of unlockable ones. At this point we can only wait and see ourselves in 36 days.

Cool. So, Kozakura's hair for females (I can't think of a more prominent character) and Emmanellain's hairstyle for males. It makes sense that they'd focus in on styles that sit quite high up and can easily cover the join with the ears.

I haven’t seen anybody anywhere mention it so I will: there’s a female viera sporting the “controlled chaos” Karen haircut in Old Sharlayan. She’s in the aetheryte creation room in a green jacket, lop ears. So, so far we know we’ll at least have the mgp ponytail, controlled chaos, and that one legacy hair shown in character creation. Yoship has also mentioned lightning hair offhand, so I think we’re going to be seeing a fair amount. Cautiously optimistic. :D

Well, we have at least ONE new hairstyle confirmed, specifically the ponytail from gold saucer. Hopefully more unlockable ones are added, especially the ones that come with glam sets from the cash shop.

That's good news. Do you happen to remember in whose video you spotted that controlled chaor Viera?

I really do hope so.

Ever since I saw the concept art of that Ninja viera, I have been collecting SO many modern aesthetics.

I can deal with the situation about the hats, I don’t mind it that much.. circlets look lovely - but I really would like a more variety in hairstyles.

You can see it at around the 9:07 mark pretty decently here https://youtu.be/arhQEjAq2cg but I saw her in most Old Sharlayan tour vids. She’s off to the side so hard to get a super good look but I’m positive that’s the hairstyle she’s using. :)

You can see the selection and they haven't been added onto the female list. Just the standard selection and one extra from the universal list.

Yoshida doesn't mention anything like this during Meoni's interview either. At least I don't remember hearing anything like this yesterday when I watched it.

The live letter from an age ago showed viera with one of the unlockable hair styles. From what Yoshi P has said the viera can look forward to more hairstyles but the horthgar is another matter.

I misread what she was talking about. I was really hoping that they did that. My bad.

It looks more like a 6.1+ for adding additional hairstyles going by the video interview.

No, heres more hats you can't wear, more hairstyle you can't use.

In one of the NIN pics the Viera has a new hairstyle so I think it's pretty much confirmed that they're getting some more in Endwalker.

I'm very pleased and excited about this. It's my hope that all of the unlockable hairstyles will be available for male and female viera, since Yoshi-p said viera would get more hairstyles and hrothgar would get more on 6.1, 6.2 and onwards. So it seems they'll do it for viera in time for launch and hrothgars will be a work in progress. But this makes me very happy. I thought hrothgars would only be able to change their hair in 7.0 along with female hrothgar but it being in 6.1 surprised me!

Do you think that the hairstyles will come out in the expansion? Do I need to buy the expansion to get the hairstyles?

From whats been mentioned by those that got to play around on the test server during media tour there is a new hairstyle for both m/f veria that wasnt on the benchmark. Sooo theres at least 1...

Im gonna have a hard time sifting through thousands of posts, but it was said that both Hrothgar and Viera would be getting Unique Hairstyles.

To be honest, I think getting modern aesthetics for Viera is inevitable. Waiting on more unique hair is as much of a possibility as them giving us hats. As much as I lay awake stroking the various hairstyles the Viera npcs wore in XII, it's much easier to unlock the styles that fit the skull than spend time modeling and rigging a whole new set of hairstyles for one race and gender. Which is important to remember now that male Viera are part of the equation. They'd have to make two sets of unique hair on top of whatever new modern aesthetics are slated for release.

If I was a dev looking to push out content and shave development time, I'd just release selective hair that is already made.
