They're beautiful zones - I love the weather, and how big they are - but everything else is just horrible. I'm working my way towards the Pyros lance, and I just finished my first weapon and entered Pagos... and... it really is just a terrible place. You no longer seem to get anything from normal mob kills but still have to grind thousands of them just to level up enough to begin to make progress on the NM kills, and then the entire process appears to be repeated in the Pyros zone.
I just... why is this like this? It was only an expansion ago - it's not like it's particularly old content. This was vintage 2018 MMORPG design... not 2005. And someone thought that was a good idea? Moreover, whereas the ARR and HW artifacts have gotten consistently easier to acquire with time (and it's not like there's a whole herd of people out there moaning about exclusivity), working towards Eureka (and Bozjan) weapons/gear is (and will soon be for Bozjan) a purely aesthetic pursuit, and yet you still have to spend 80-100 hours grinding at it? For a skin? Why?

Lots of people loved Eureka. I was one of them. Was pretty much the best part of SB for me. It was fun to do solo or with friends for a couple of hours at a time; I looked forward to logging in to enjoy it. Enjoyed the story, loved the zones, loved the nostalgia for XI. Much better than Bozjia (or however you spell it) which I haven't enjoyed at all. Fighting Penthesilea was one of my favourite boss battles for a while.

It's alright, the content is not for everybody and I understand the people who hate it. I personally enjoyed it when it was new because I sorta like games that get unforgiving or hostile towards the player (Pagos, for example, has a lot of design choices I like, but again, I completely understand some people absolutely hate the concept of jumping off cliffs to reach caves and dragons in narrow passages) and I enjoy it more now that I have all the elemental power gear and there's Echo. Makes me feel overpowered and useful, things are faster for everybody in general, and it's a great source of money.

I'd have to agree due to the fact that you can't multi task while you're in any part of Eureka. It's either work on elvl/relic or do everything else in game. The later zones get a bit 'better', but I'm glad they did what they did to Bozja. I personally never want to see that we can LEVEL DOWN from dying like the archaic MMOs of days past.

In a lot of ways bojza was actually a step down from Eureka. Sure it was definitely more concise, but it also cut out a lot of what actually made Eureka enjoyable. There is no real sense of progression with the leveling system in bojza, zones are tiny, and the fate scaling is laughable. Eureka also had objectively better world bosses and NM's; also said bosses didn't have a player limit so the whole scale of the fights were much more grand.
I think most of the issues you are running into are due to Eureka not being current content anymore, so the areas are less populated. Fate/NM trains definitely made the leveling experience in Eureka much more bearable and less tedious, but most of my fun came from killing higher leveled monsters with a full or mostly full party.

It's a chore to level through that map, but once you are able to farm light and go anywhere to prep with groups for NMs, it's a much better experience.

That's how developement works tho. Developers try out different things, look at how players recieve it and build on these systems or scrap them.
Players actually liked Eureka, ofc there are many who hate it who cried all over the forums and some complains from the "whole" playerbase. That's why you don't level down anymore in Bozja. That's why you don't have to grind light for years. That's why mobs aren't that tightly packed anymore and you don't getting shredded by them damn dragons. Heck you even get teleported now into the notorious monster fights instead of trying to catch the early pulled boss in eureka just to arrive at the monster at being like 10% and getting a bronze reward for it cause you couldn't deal any damage.
I think Eureka -> Bozja shows actually promise since the developers listened to what players wanted and tried to improve on what they liked and scrapped part of the relics that players didn't liked. People liked Baldesions Arsenal, thus we have 2 raids now and a trial tied to bozja. People liked the silly lost actions, thus we have now even more of them.
Sure you can blame developers forever for past systems, but you should rather look at how they improved on them. The idea behind Eureka wasn't bad at all. And bozja proved that it can work in a smooth way. -

I'm low level in both Eureka and Bozja (single-digits low) because I just can't enjoy or connect with either. Between having another level to grind, bigger maps with no/slower mounts, and areas being blocked via story progression, it feels like a slog versus a grind you can unwind with.
I'll have random moments when I'll go into Bozja and try to FATE grind but it just gets too tedious for me that I can only last 15-30 minutes. :/
One of the few things I will praise both for it that when they were first launched, people were social in them. It was fun having silly conversations while being in the NM/FATE train. I think that help make both areas much more tolerable. But now, the chat is only for res requests and asking when the raid is going to pop. :B
I will added that I do think what I've seen of Bozja is an improvement on what I've seen of Eureka though. -

I have just complete both bozja and eureka, while Bozja is for sure an improvement from eureka with more content and stuff happening, eureka is more challanging in its own way, its been a while since i have this feeling of being scared and chased around by actual deadly mobs that will kill you in one or two hits just like the good old MMORPG times, also the way they utilize the large eureka map with treasure hunting is genius design, its a shame that bozja didnt have that

It's like this because it was designed to let you experience how old MMOs like FF11 worked where it's very grindy, you kill mobs to level instead of doing quests and mobs are actually threatening.
Most people just did the weekly challenge log or NM trains instead. NMs are a lot like fates, but you spawn them by killing lots of the same mob. They sometimes have a lot of mechanics and they scale to the amount of people in the instance.
It used to take a lot longer to kill everything, but now you get the echo that makes it easier. You can find an Elemental and if you stand near one you get a buff that makes it easier to survive and increases experience. You can use level 80 food and buy a body item just outside of eureka if you exchange for an item from the market board and it increases your elemental stat.
When you get through the quest you should complete your magia board so you can assign points in an element. You can rotate it to be the same element as your enemy so you take less damage, or the opposite element so it's easy to kill but you take more damage.
It's casual content and didn't take very long, at least when it was current because of the amount of players, but there are a lot of advantages for helping you solo now.
If you can find them on the market board it makes it a lot simpler and you don't require all of them.Quote:

I've gotten the ARR relic. I'm working on the HW relic. These were grinds, but they're quite chill—amenable to doing a little bit here and there until you get the weapons. Eureka, in contrast, seems like an extremely long grind and logistical pain—I game for fun, so I'll likely never touch this content. I'm clearly interested in doing past relics for the glamours, but the design of Eureka makes it unfun.
I'm not mad at Eureka nor at anyone who likes it, but the it's not, I think, a design that should ever be repeated. -

I'm kind of tired of people calling everything that doesn't suit their playstyle trash. There are dozens of different things you can do in this game that offer unique skins and rewards and just because one of them doesn't suit your style doesn't mean it needs to be cut from the game. I personally have zero interest in ever completing an Ultimate. I find the idea of spending months progging it, slowly moving inch by inch closer to being able to beat it to be an excruciating idea. I don't even really enjoy Savage raids that much tbh. However, I don't think the idea of them is trash because its content a lot of people enjoy.
I like grinding mindlessly from time to time. I enjoy being able to turn off part of my brain and spend time just killing thousands of enemies. While OP might not enjoy that, to the point of insulting people who do (just because you target an insult at one user doesn't mean others won't fall under the same insult), that doesn't mean its trash. There is crafting, PvP, dungeons, extreme trials, raids, savage raids, ultimate raids, fishing, the gold saucer, and any number of other things to do which can earn you rewards. You don't need to get every glam in the game. -

Pagos was by far the worst of the zones. It was even worse when it first released with ridiculous pevel requirements for fhe aetherytes. Pros and Hydatos were much better. Just had to remember to turn off run and walk a lot in Pyros because a good portion of the mobs aggroed to sound.

Eureka was why I quit the game back then. I figured enough time had passed that I should be able to avoid it or any other content like it when I came back during the last free trial period. I'm not ready to try Bozja for the relic weapon yet but if it is like Eureka I'll probably quit again.

Eureka is.... Okay now. It's a bit of an annoyance near the end still but it's tolerable now. I went in recently to finally finish my RDM relic from there. Anemos was always fine but Pagos was literally the only thing this game has done that made me want to not play. You need to do the story in Eureka (up to Hydratos anyway) to get the TT cards but it at least isn't too bad now and you don't even need to do a weapon.
Bozja is nowhere near as bad as Eureka was. It has some issues (DR is a mess if you don't PF it, general lack of stuff to buy, the relic designs are hit and miss) but otherwise an improvement. Either try them soon or wait until Endwalker is out and get some exp for your Sage/Reaper.Quote:

Bozja doesn't have the same longevity of profits. There are really only two items that can be sold from DR Savage. Save the Princess minion and Gambler essence. I suppose the augmented BSF gear upgrades could fetch more premiums as people phase out of doing that and Castrum, and those are required to use DR savage upgrades.
I think that's one thing that is missed from Bozja, more profit potential. Plus they did give us the DR hair as a pity buy for Dalriada coins. I suppose fragments could go higher as Bozja phases out too, just like the more expensive Logos. -

The best thing about Eurekas were actual setting up the NM or casually slaughtering so many enemies.
There is something absolutely satisfying being able to get nice groups and just... exterminate every max level mob just to spawn the big monster.
In a way, Eureka felt much closer to XII as well in terms of grinding even though it is more to XI. The only downside is not having a sped up animation button to make levelling faster (which is my gripe, each zone you start is just a massive chore and I am glad of the logs. Nothing makes me more dreadful than seeing many NM popped but you are still so behind that you won't get anything).
Eureka with the mobs is more engaging since you gotta take in consideration weather, day/night and such which Bozja absolutely lacks but makes up for CE and raids.
I still hate Pagos and Hydatos, I don't see how the latter is an improvement... Pyros felt the best. -

It's super easy now with the huge Echo buff you get, along with the fact that there's EXP potions and Osode's/V. Cloak items to buy to have enhanced capability all of the time while inside.
I took my LP alt through it, and it only took a few hours a day for like 3 or 4 days to complete all of the zones and a relic to its useful i405 point for outside. I didn't do BA on him, because I didn't want to join a Discord for it and put my LP on hold.
You also get a crap ton of poetics each time you go in, assuming you pop and kill enough NMs. Lets you work on older relics somewhat, at the same time. -

Eureka is easy.
Join a Eureka/ BA discord server for your DC and ask for people who want to join you.
Eureka is great group content and with every fate spawn it feels like you accomplished something.
Also, once you are elemental level 18 you can level by doing the weekly challenge log in anemos.
It gives you about 2,5 level per week for just 30 min of work.
And once you have finished BA a couple of times you can make everything solo without a problem, even spawning and killing the island endbosses (as a tank).
Eureka is great and engaging content with a lot player who love it. You can also finish a SB relic within one day.
And it is really active content right now. -

I noped out in Pagos. I think I was up to the step of farming light or whatever it was in groups. And one day I said to myself "Self, you log in and you spend all your time in this instance closeted away from the rest of the game. You don't get to go do the things you enjoy. You can't really afford to take a day off because you've got a goal and you need to keep working toward it. But is that goal (in this case the relic) really worth it?"
And I decided no. I realized I was violating the promise I made to myself after over a decade in EverQuest that I was going to log in for a given night and do what I wanted to do and not do something unless I was enjoying myself. Once I got to Bozja and saw it was even worse because now you can't even progress using normal mobs and have to FATE farm ad nauseum to raise your mettle to get to the interesting content, I just noped right out.
So it's fun for some. I definitely give SE my feedback that it's not fun for me and I don't enjoy tying relics, something I loved to do in ARR and HW, to these zones. I think they aren't letting them stand on their own feet without the relics and if they are going to try new things, that's a new thing they should try. Give us casual endgame weapon questlines closer to ARR and HW instead of locking us away from the game like Eureka and Bozja. Nothing says whatever their new instanced zone in in EW (because I'm sure we're getting one) can't be one of the options for completing X step for any new relic line. Just make the questline also doable without ever setting foot in it.
And you're also running smack into a question that was often asked when this was current and is asked about Bozja now: What happens when people stop doing it? Just letting it die out seems antithetical to the design in this game, since there is so much effort made to keep older content populated and available for up and coming sprouts. But they really don't seem to be putting much thought into future-proofing these zones at all.
