Favorite Job Action

What is your single favorite job action in the game and why?

For me, it's easily NIN's Goka Mekkyaku—it's a beast mode area attack, has an excellent animation (both the flames and the casting), and it does exactly what I want my powered-up ninja magic to do.

What's your favorite button to hit?

Vermilion Scourge, because you can never unsee it. Mostly because you may never see anything else ever again.

Limits breaks! My favorite its BLM limit, cause you cant be more "sephiroth" than that, all are amazing, but BLM's my favorite!

Edge of Shadow/Darkness. A lot of DRK weaponskill animations feel slow and cumbersome, particularly Bloodspiller with its Lazy River-speed vertical loop. Edge, however, is exactly what I want from DRK attacks: A fast, brutal cut with a hard stop and pause at the end. The particle effects are icing on the cake, but it's the animation itself that I love.

Other than that, I'd say Dancer's... everything. Dancer is just fun to watch, period.

Paladin’s Flash.
Monk’s Howling Fist.
Dragoon’s Ring of throns.

It's just awesome how you can more or less ignore mechanics with this tool, while everyone else has to walk ^___^

It's entirely possible to be unrelated but about a year before Passage of Arms was shown we were thinking of new spells and such, I had suggested wings coming from the paladin with the concept being that it would protect players within the cone behind them, and share tempered will. So when it came out I was like holy thal halls... So I just enjoy seeing that spell, looks neat, feels cool.

Though seeing it used in higher skill play I think an upgrade to it that is akin to dancer / summoner may be neat. Replaces some skills that allow paladin to do some sort of holy attacks- without breaking channel. Meaning people are a little less encouraged to snap shot the buff (time the skill for like 1 second uptime and then cancel)- though such a thing would have to be carefully balanced and is easy to suggest but probably harder to properly balance.. like if it was a big dps increase you'd see paladins protect nothing and just use it on on cooldown for damage ... :P (or it could move buff windows at around in unfortunate ways). Just some thought to encourage the imagery longer, even if it was only a portion of the total, like 5-10 seconds of the total.

I think Confiteor looks amazing and I like the holy crusader like vibes. It would be a bit neat if the other holy magic spells get some more crunch to them (they're neat but super elegant right now). I suppose it does save room for a holy offensive job if they wanted, though I do want to see at least something in the game that uses holy magic in the sort of theme 'wrath of god' (holy magic that is angry lol).

Overall I just like the paladin the most. Still wish for a dark souls like lightning spear toss though ;).

I don't want to say because they routinely remove every ability with an animation I like.

Awesome pick.

I don't have a particular favorite cuz I like all of them, (talkin only bout Ninja) so I'll just pick Raiton. It's the one I use the most and aesthetically pleasing to look at, especially since it's purple. Now, If Endwalker gives me a Purple Lightning, and they make it look swaggy, instant fave.

Anatman has an awesome monk animation, even though the animation is often the only useful part of it.

Time Dilation.

1.0 Stoneskin.

I liked Scourge and 3.0 Delirium a lot, Ninja's Dancing Edge was amazing too. I'm a fan of Burst Strike and how the gunshot is used to draw the cut; I also love the whole Gnashing Fang combo as a whole.

Inner Release, because almost every Job has it.

Aetherial Manipulation. Or maybe Elusive Jump. I'm a sucker for frequent and/or unconstrained mobility tools, especially with decent range (not a mere 10-yalm).

If I had to pick based on appearance alone, though, probably Scourge, Celestial Opposition, or just... Chaos Thrust. For their day (1.x), Aura Pulse and the old Bloodspiller animation were pretty good, too, though.

Drk 3-rd move from aggro combo which they are cut...

Black Mage and Gunbreaker's explosion actions. Nothing feels more satisfying then decimating the hp of your enemies with a destructive explosion!

And anything that Samurai does. I love how I just take chunks out of enemies HP. Soooooo satisfying!

Butcher's Block... oh wait.

Power Slash!.. oh wait.

Dancing Edge... oh wait.

Howling Fist... oh wait.

Ageha!.. oh wait.

Shadowflare... oh wait.

Stella... oh wait.

Rage of Halone... oh hey, this one's still in the game, but only if you're synced below 60. PLD caught a break that WAR and DRK didn't. Go figure.

I wonder what's on the chopping block next. SMH. They delete every good animation that they put in, unless one of the devs loves the job personally.

In all seriousness, i do wonder what kind of stuff the dev's are smoking when designing Jobs. Judging from the Endwanker Benchmark, it looks like Summoner will be getting a freaking gap closer. Of all the things they could do to fix the job, theyre giving it the last thing this Job needs, but ill hold my anger until i see the Job action trailer in September.

Don't worry; they'll give it as a single-target variant of Confiteor that only hits for 100 potency more and comes at cost to other areas of your ST kit anyways, thus really only having nerfed your overall AoE capacity very slightly.

The blackflip of Dragoon, its amazing how it always manages to put me in more harm then I tried to get out off. Or it just yeets me of the platforn.

Forbidden Chakra feels really nice to weave, I like how it works a lot.
As with a lot of MNK abilities tho you kinda don't always get to actually see it, it's the same with Tornado Kick the animations are too long and MNK too fast so it's like half an animation...

And it's RNG and generally I don't like RNG mechanics, but I kinda like it in this case because it fits with the energetic gameplay.
I actually feel like the unpredictable nature of it fits MNK a lot.

They actually already did that at the start of 5.0, and by 5.1 or whatever, they brought it back due to many many many complaints about SCH not having it. I wouldn't put it past them to try taking it again, but honestly I think SCH's been gutted enough that I would hope that they have the foresight to not gut it any further.

Two of them:

1) DNC's Fan Dances... Something about their animation feels so satisfying to press

2) WAR's Upheaval under Inner Release burst window. Chain crits and visually engaging!

When I am playing a non-DNC I really miss En Avant.

Monk level 3 limit break.

Don't see it that often as most monks are crying in a corner.

But there is something about slowly pulling back the fist charging and KABOOM!!!!!!!!!!!

Any of the tank level 3 limit breaks....would love to see a tank DPS version along with a DEF version.

Limit Breaks or Passage of Arms. Nearly every other action feels weightless and impactless no matter how flashy they are or what their description says.

Inner Release.

Can’t believe nobody is here repping Bard’s Wide Volley weaponskills (except I can cuz it doesn’t exist anymore lol). Bards were the original back-flippers! And if that wasn’t enough your backflip culminated in a hail of brightly coloured laser beams. They obviously removed it because it was unfair to every other job that Bards were just that much cooler than everyone else (then made them the least cool job in existence lol, even Apex Arrow looks boring)

On that note, #bringbackwidevolley

I still think Fell Cleave looks amazing to this day. Still one of my absolute favorite abilities to look at.

Nowadays though I admit I love Passage of Arms' visuals if not it's mechanics. Nothing says "holy defender" better than a knight throwing their shield up with blazing luminous aetheric angel wings unfurled in front blocking their comrades behind them. :D (It's clear SE thinks so as it's the basis for the pose of the new upcoming WoL figurine that will be in the Collector's Edition of Endwalker ;)).
