the system of the feast is ridiculous

It cannot be that in a RANKED game, you have an average of 112 games and only 36 wins. I'm tanking (because I like GNB), but I can't be laminating with the callouts if most of the time I get people who are purely useless, they don't know how to focus when ordered. Another problem is that you collect alone: ​​this is a very very serious problem, it cannot be that your entire ranking depends on such a large RNG. The third problem is that they let people joine from level 30: If you are in a 600-700-800 ranking or higher, you can continue to be touched by people who have just started playing. You should have people who are at the same level as you, and I link this to the above, you should let go in a group (with team ranked this problem would not exist) to be able to understand you. The Feast itself is complete garbage. I cannot understand how this development team can so clearly pour so much effort into the majority of the content in this game, and yet leave a major component like PvP in a permanent state of disfunction. Why even have PvP at all if you aren't going to keep it at least moderately engaging?

The Feast is partly how it is due to how toxic people got in the earlier seasons. You used to be able to chat in Feast.

I had the same problem. I used PLD and didn't die (even when my team did), yet could only achieve a win rate of 33% (about the same as you). By the time I got the rank where you need a high win rate to actually progress into the top 100, it was mathematically impossible that I would get into that even though I was doing the feast all day long.

I gave up and haven't done it since. I think the top 100 should be replaced with seasonal achievement rewards for doing the feast, so anyone who cares to win the feast 100 times gets these rewards and that would make a lot more people bother with it.

The fact is Feast is just WoW's arena training mode and you won't get good game until late games in the season when que is dying.
Even with that, you still need to deal with toxicity and win traders.

I'd say that's quite average. You are lucky to get 50% win rate in ANY PvP or even PvP games with pugs. That's just how it is.

Yes please! This game needs team pvp to be a thing. I think it would bring more attention to the pvp in the game if more people played it. Adding team seasons that actually matter and team rewards would increase the pvp population. no one wants to lose constantly, but with friends it's more bearable, and getting friends to try pvp with frontlines is just a fuster-cluck.

you are wrong to a large extent, the macros used to make a strategy are worthless if you always join 1-2 people who have just unlocked the feast or if you join a person who is moving up in class and does not know those mechanics. So that is useless. This pvp is useless if you cannot be with people in voice chat / or with chat enabled / or with friends and in a team. It makes no sense how big RNG it has

The Feast needs to be entirely scrapped.
Along with Rival Wings.

All their rewards/achievements put into the Frontlines.
All PvP Resources should be put into making more and more interesting Frontlines. More participants, more enviromental mechanics. Think of WvWvW in GW2. Maps large enough so you can both Zerg your stay or Roam your stay, and progressing achievements or feat achievements, like: Kill 5k people or kill 100 people with falling/enviromental damage, etc. And link all PvP content there is to that.

This game just cannot handle small PvP, is not fun, is not engaging and only rewarding 100 players per datacenter is not worth it (and wont even even if it were 1000).

It isnt about RNG. Feast in its current state is all about dry calculations and taking risks on hoping that your focus target or the enemy heaker breaks under the pressure.

Most importantly, dont expect to get carried in Feast like People do in the rest of the content of FFXIV You either carry your own weight or you see yourself ou.

Also, your statement about me informing you, as well as People interested, being useless, is even more useless than the Macros provided by Squeenix. They are vy no means good, but that is all we can currently work and agree with until it gets changed.

yeah the ladder is pretty awful. they should adopt a wow-style ranking system, where reaching a certain threshhold will net you prizes

Again the way it is now is due to the cesspool of toxicity that it used to be. There used to be chat. But then the devs were made aware of the behavior and took out the chat. So, unless you make a team and use voice chat you have to quickly adapt to what players have come up with in regards to strategy. I'm surprised people didn't research it. Even before the changes the devs made to the Feast the pvp in the game was crap. There's a reason why many in the player base just skip the pvp skill changes as it's not a high focus for the devs.

I agree with Feast being reworked but not Rival Wings, I actually have a lot of fun and find it unique enough as a game mode that it stands out more than the others. As for Feast it's had some serious issues back in HW where myself used to do it, got up to plat but ques were dead unless it was late at night due to win traders and such (it's still an issue now but that's another topic).

They need to start from the ground up for Feast as for ideas I don't really have any, but I like your idea with stuff like WvWvW because I miss that a lot and I loved GW2 as a game purely based for my PvP needs. I don't find 14s PvP offensive, other then the feast but I love the Frontlines and wish it was popping more since que times are abysmal since people dislike PvP, and that's fine, just wish we had an event like Garo to incentivize PvP.

I actually do like Rival Wings.
But just as The Feast, is not rewarding, not enough for the Queue to move on it's own. I know there are discords doing that content, but im a solo player, i embrace random encounters, i cannot be bothered to do content at a certain time, during a certain hour, for a limited time.

I want to get my achievements, mounts, drops, whatever at MY pace, during MY time, for MY skills or dedication: Not by participating in community, not by participating in limited time events like seasonal ladderboards or things like the restoration of Ishgard. That kind of content is simply my bane.

They clearly don't feel like PvP IS a major component in this game. It's more of a side thing, like Gold Saucer, and frankly Gold Saucer gets more attention.

The actual problem Feast (and PvP as a whole) has had for a long time is insufficient queuing population. Many of the flaws in the current system is due to lacking a critical mass of pvpers. When you only have about 150 pvpers per datacenter competing to be ranked with at most 10 queuing at a time, you end up with a situation where pvpers can compete for a few weeks until they get a decently high place and then they would stop queuing and would stay a ranker until the season is over. Win trading is also only possible due to the limit queuing population: Win trading is only possible if you can insure that you can be matched up with the same party.

If the total population per datacenter competing for rankings in the Feast each season was 300 or more, pvpers would be forced to nearly constantly pvp in order to maintain their position in the ranking, and if the constant queuing population was at least 30 pvpers win trading would not be viable.

Hopefully the influx of new players will increase the pvp population enough that the current season will be more enjoyable and fair to those who don't try to game the system.

Win trading would also not be viable if the top 100 was scrapped altogether and there were just seasonal achievement rewards.

Most people don't want to pvp all day just to maintain their position in a top 100 so of course nobody does it.

They don’t need to rework the Feast or RW. What they need to do instead is add a separate roulette for each of them. The only reason that any of the Frontlines maps pops is because of the daily roulette.

By the way, Frontlines is a much worse game mode than RW or Feast in my opinion - 1v1v1 is always much more RNG in terms of who wins than a 1v1 where the better team will almost always win. You could be winning in a Frontlines match and then suddenly get screwed because one of the other teams decides to give up on winning and drag you down with them.

It is the way how it is designed and how rewarding it is which RESULTS into people not being interested into it, simply because they consider it to be not worth the hassle to go trough just for some outdated glamour or archievements.

Back on the matter of Feast, personally, i see nothing wrong with the way how it works by itself. The biggest issue is how the JOBS work in PvP in general which turns it into this mess of a game. Jobs in PvP have way too few abilities in general and the few we do have, are just PvE skills and HP potions that stall for time. Jobs in this Game are far too similar from one another in order to be fun in PvP.

If Squeenix truly wishes to save this mode at some point, they better start by reworking all the Jobs (in pvp) from the Ground up.

Yeah, some of the rewards are pretty cool though. I just can't get myself to actually do it, at least not often. The only time I really did it was during the Garo event, and that was out of FOMO. I hope with how this game has been growing, SE will think about investing more into PvP, and an overhaul.

The jobs look pretty unique in PvP to me. Paladins get to use Hallowed Ground and ranged spells. Dark Knights get to use their edge attacks that reduce the outgoing potency of the enemy. Summoners get to use DoTs. To me these things are different and also resemble a lot of the level 80 actions these jobs have.

Alright, i guess ill bite, despite you not even being able to provide examples of why i am wrong.

If you look closer on both the performance of each job in their designated role, as well as how each type of Skills are distributed, you are going to see alot of similarities.

First of all, allow me to remind everyone here that the total count of abilities in PvP, is fairly low compared to PvE (arround 16-18 abilities on average, including limitbreak, potions/sprint, as well as the 2 selectable pvp actions). That's even less to work with compared to PvE WAR who has 23 abilities without role actions to work with (upgrades not included).

Now then, if we have a gander at the things at hand, we notice easily that MOST of the damaging abilities, from all jobs, mind you, are just raw damaging abilities that either:
-trigger under specific conditions (which just leads to a stronger raw dmg ability)
-build up Gauge
-uses Ressources

Next, the few abilities that are left (which arent many) are also fairly simple in nature which serve a similar pupose within the classes of their designated role, examples are:
- Tank damage mitigation is more or less the same, you just overwhelm your opponent with big numbers of defense values that may include self healing capabilities in one form or another
- Every Healer has one (1) Dot that inconveniences both your enemies as well as your MP Bar in the form or either dealing more damage, reducing damage or/and reducing healing
- every caster has only one (1) CC effect, two of those are small AoE on Target
- PvP Actions
- the stupid Medical Kit that only stalls for time
- physical ranged dps have literally the same CC skills (with only MCH gaving the superior knockback ability)
- "deals more damage the more/less HP the target has"
- single target sleep for every Healer

Noticed anything interesting after reading all of this?

3 Medical Kit makes fight a snore fest although I am not fan of the burst game tactic since it basically sums up on ganging up a specific target and being absolutely persistent to it.

But also comes with the jobs too, they don't feel responsive and the damage comes a second or 2 late after button pressed so that is awful

50% winrate means Diamond Tier, probably top100, just btw.

So it's the good old "because tanks mitigate, they are all the same" argument that is used for pve as well, yet the way that they mitigate is all different and retains a lot of how they play in pve and there is more to tanks than just mitigating.

Across the roles we have stuns, silences, sleeps, AoE, gap closers, pulls, knockbacks and damage buffs. I find all of these interesting and they get used in interesting ways to defeat eachother.

Tanks have multiple combos and not all of them have to be used in practice. A dark knight can use Delirium or Souleater and a paladin can use Royal Authority, Requiescat or Atonement. You don't get to use all of them a lot of the time so it allows for a lot of variety.

lol the majority of the people complaining about the Feast in here clearly have no idea how to play PvP in this game. If you think that all jobs play the same in PvP and don’t understand the usefulness of the potions, then it’s no wonder you think that the mode needs an overhaul. Just to provide an example, even among the tanks which you think are the “same,” DRK is much worse than the other tanks in the Feast and so a lot of people avoid it. Among casters, if you don’t pick up and consistently use Addle to mitigate bursts, people will think that you’re trolling once you get into the higher ranks. I could go on and on, but comments like the above pretty much confirm to me that the problem isn’t with the Feast but is rather with players who are too lazy to properly learn the important differences and nuances in the mode and just declare it as bad when the real reason that they don’t do better is because of them. They like Frontlines because (as I mentioned previously) the outcome is much more RNG-dependent and you can get carried even if you individually are bad at PvP, which makes this mode seem much more “fun” for many casuals. The Feast is not a mode for casuals lol - it’s a mode for people who actually enjoy competitive PvP content.

More than PvE, at least, because PvP naturally open a lot of things that don't exist in FFXIV PvE, where monsters are just static big bag of HP with fixed script, no crowd-control and no heal. In PvP, opponents react to what you do.
And the consequence is that resource management actually exist in PvP (if you don't read what the opponent do, you waste resource attacking a target with defence bonus, for example, and then you can't burst when you should)
And also position, obviously. Avoiding AoE in PvE isn't position management.

There are less skills, but they're nearly all pertinent. "More skills" isn't magically better. I wouldn't be surprised if they actually wanted to reduce the number of PvE skills further, but they know they can't handle the communication. So they just keep the illusion with negligible differences.

"Burst" is not about "being absolutely persistent to it" (this is more "pressure"). A perfect burst kills a target before the opponent can do anything about it, so it's about finding the right moment to attack (what I've told above, adapting to what the opponent do). Feint and surprise switch are also valid tactic, for the more skilled players.

The delay between the start of an animation and the damage dealt at the moment of impact also exist in PvE, it's just it's unimportant so we tend to forget it. In PvP, knowing which skills have effect in 0.5s, 1s or 1.5s is important to burst (and maybe it shouldn't, that's an open question. For example, monk doing the right skills in the right order, the damage of 3-4 skills can happen nearly at the same moment. I wouldn't be surprised if FFXIV devs aren't even conscious of this as a parameter for job balance)

My bad on the terms.
I can't say much since I am just joining random groups so the rng on communication (and also didn't even realize there was a quick chat after 2 matches) so that was my experience with the burst stuff.
And I think the devs know the Monk's delays, since they kept touching Tornado Kick's damage (1.6k to 2k and now 1.8k) and that takes a bit to come out and has 2 uses.

How is it 'trolling'? I've been queuing up as a melee DPS pretty much every evening since it began and have only seen a queue pop twice. Not during weird, early hours. During prime time.

So I figured, why not try queuing as a ranged DPS or tank instead? Same effect.

In each attempt, I waited 30-45 minutes before giving up and trying again later.

The system is set up in such a way as to deter players who want to get involved.

I've also PvP'd enough to grab all three Grand Company mounts from Frontline victories so please don't portray me as making stuff up. I want to get into Feast as well, but it has yet to happen.

And I thought frontlines were a joke already.

You know why? There are streams bro, every day... People even stream unranked on your chaos DC, and they get dozend of games, every day. Season literally just started and you claim its dead.

You can see the activity, even if it only snapshots the top10 people with highest rating in those tiers.

Sure if there are 10 range dps and tank in queue and only 1 healer and melee, you wait a game or two out until it is your turn, just like in PvE. Or you switch to the role in demand and get an instant duty.

Some new people even think it is a fun mode, even if it is obvious that is has its problems. But you and others are just denying people their experience, by pushing your PvP is "dead/bad/everyone is cheater" narrative.

It still does not change the fact that Jobs have more similarities between each other, than they have not. I do agree on the melee dps part, since its the only "role" that is somewhat properly designed, but the rest? Pure garbage.
