For Absent Friends and the trolling around the Fate Chain spawn.

Yes, this has now become a thing and it's indicative of a problem with how the Bozjan Fate Chain system is currently, not working very well, at all.

The current best way to get the Fate to spawn is get in a fresh instance and gun it straight to the spawn and begin killing Scorpions.

Now this is a known thing....certain less than savory individuals that know people are currently trying to hunt out fresh instances knowing full well that once FaF gets trapped behind another Fate it will go right to the back of the fate chain (which will take upwards of 2 hours to clear it, just for a shot at the S&F and duel for the drop) they go straight in with flarestar, they gun to Zone 3 and immediately kill all the MK1 Magitek mobs, that die fast and will force Mechanical Man to jump to the front of the queue.

I called out someone for doing this after spending a good 30 minutes with others exclusively killing Scorpions in a fresh instance, their reply

"Cry me a river"

They knew full well they were locking out the spawn for 2 hours, this wasn't some innocent "oh I'm new here" mistake, this was a very purposeful move to waste the time of other players that are frankly already sick of how dumb this whole fate system currently is in regards to the FaF fate chain.

But here's the thing, I may have voiced my distaste at that player, there are more doing the same, purposely trolling "because they can"

I don't blame them, I blame you SE, I blame you for not addressing the system when it was clear it was going to be a problem and it was going to be open to such abuse.

Simple answer, Decouple FaF/S&F from the other fates, I don't care if you give it a full instance cool down, let it spawn in the beginning, let it spawn in the end so people know if it's worth hanging around or moving instance and remove the ability for those that are blocking others from doing it because they think it's "Funny" to waste peoples' time.

And people say this game is less toxic than WoW.

100% and I completely agree, I don't blame them for abusing an issue that is present and ab-usable. Is it awful? Sure, but it's going to happen because SE left that door open and it's on them for leaving that door open.

I don't think they're necessarily trying to troll you but rather they're trying to farm clusters. There really isn't much you can do about it since they're well within their right to farm clusters.

I feel a best case solution would be to have some priority system so it doesn't get pushed back by other CE chains so much but that's assuming there isn't one already.

No they were definitely trolling and not just doing the Cluster farm. They pulled ONLY the MK1 magiteks, not the Scorpions or MK3s which would all be pulled in a cluster farm (which would lead to FaF coming up first anyway because more scorpions would naturally be killed than MK1s) it was an intentional action and the response when asked why they did that was indicative of someone acting up "Because they can".

I could absolutely understand if it was an innocent mistake, if they'd killed more MK1s because of how they were pulling, etc. The fact they were only pulling Mk1s and made that snarky comment when questioned, yeah that wasn't just someone cluster farming unfortunatley.

Some of us have been at this for nearly 2 weeks now and are pretty low on patience as is, so for other players to start doing stuff like this? SE should really look at decoupling this like they did CLL asap.

No one is required to follow made up community rules or wants.

It's one of the reasons I actually want Asmon and Co to come here. This community needs to have its comfort zone shaken up a little and many of them need to be reminded they don't dictate game policy in any way.

People can say what they like about that "other" game, yet the company were always pretty damn good at cracking down on any bad system that could be openly exploited in a detrimental fashion, I remember the AFK bot leechers in BGs, the Ninja looters, the trainers and all other host of bad stuff that went on in that game, nobody once held the players that did it responsible it was always

SE get far too much leniency from the community sometimes and this is one of those situations where it should be turned on SE for not fixing a Fate chain problem that has been around since the days of ARR because they simply don't want to put resources into fixing it.

I wish SE wasn't so married to the Fate system and their continued systems that try to force people into it. I mean some of the special fates are cool, the ones with unique rewards or achievements, but the ways they keep coming up with to force people to grind generic fates suck.

Bozja is actually quite the toxic hive. I haven't seen it the toxic elements of this game as frequently as in Bozja. You can find all kinds there.

I tried Bozja just a bit and hated it, never went back. I have a very low tolerance for grinding, so for now relic weapons are off the table for me. Maybe I'll do it in EW since I can spread it over the entire expansions.

^^^^ This so much. The expansion is over and STILL Castrum, DR and Dalriada all can be leeched either by not using essences or by straight out AFKing and SE has done nothing to fix or even acknowledge this issue. And while I agree this is mostly a SE problem for rushing content they don't care about in order to get back to robot waifus and male bunny development while leaving all these very obvious problems in (a raid where you can't kick people is just lmao) the toxic casual SE apologist community is also at fault for not holding SE accountable and demanding their money's worth.

I actually went in Bozja today to wait for a CLL (I'm already 10/10/10 I'm just working on more relics) so I went around killing star mobs and did skirmishes. Noticed that FAF didn't spawn at all even when I went into CLL and when I went back to kill more mobs again I saw like 15 people just.... Standing at the FAF spawn area. Not even killing scorpions.

The AFKers are a huge part of the problem as well.

Having spent several days and a dump amount of hours in BSF the things that basically need to happen for FaF to spawn:

1. Fresh instance, kill Scorpions, more Scorpions dead than other Magitek before the instance begins spawning CE chains, FaF will spawn.

2. If other CE chain is spawned all chains must be cleared out of the queue before FaF can spawn (it appears to have an extremely low priority and you can even see the Lyon and Gabriel Fate chains twice before FaF and there's a reason for that)

The problem with clearing the Fate chains is a lot of people refuse to help and would sooner sit AFK so you maybe get a handful actively clearing them down so it's a slow process. FaF will then get blocked again and again by CE chains that are coming off cooldown.

In one instance it took near the full 3 hours before FaF finally spawned and basically a bunch of us yelling at the AFKers to stop whining about it not spawning and actually help clear the chains so it could.

Honestly, this is probably worse than trying to get a BA run for Ozma....

They need to fix the CE priority or add the note to other sub skirmishes like they did with 12. Right now it's simply ridiculous. It's not the players fault that it takes so long. It's SE's fault for making the spawn so bad and sticking a 5 star note with a terrible drop rate in it.

I look for new instances and have spawned it 3 times in the last 2 days. I'm one of those crazies who does this on my alts and still need 14 for some of them.

44/45 are not too bad as you'll get a shot every DL you enter and the Duel Fate chains are easy to spawn (Head of the Snake being very easy to qualify for and Taking the Lyons share being one of the easier duels)

But the whole "ItS a NoToRiOuS FaTe" is a damn bad excuse to gate an entire drop chance set away from players looking to complete their notes.

If you are after the Field Note, you can now get this from other Skirmishes since the patch.

Dyanbu note.

Not the 5 star Sarti note which is only from "Steel and Flame" and "The Flames Went Higher" which are both part of the "For Absent Friends" Fate chain.

As the chain goes

"For Absent Friends" -Dyanbu note
"Steel and Flame" -Sarti note
"Metal Wolf Chaos" - don't take any Vuln stacks to be eligible for
"The Flames Went Higher" - Sarti note guaranteed if you get picked/win the duel

If they are AFK how are they whining?

AFK is not the same as either clueless or lazy.

I dislike Bosja personally because its not my kind of experience, but I know people in my FC that spend a lot of time there and people do tend to either not know about how to spawn something or just care to let others do the work.

question I have is, why yell at people? isnt that a bit toxic in and of itself? Just ignore them.

maybe the issue isnt other people or the zone, just saying, in my experience, other people generally treat you like you treat them, in my experience anyway.

I have 3 extra 12's on one alt alone and no 14. 12 is pretty easy to get now relatively speaking since the nerf. They need to add 14 to another skirmish too or fix the spawn for Absent Friends, Steel and the CE. MDK is a good example in Southern of a 5 star note that is only obtainable outside of that skirmish with a duel and doesn't have the ridiculous rng associated with it's spawn. In Zadnor Supersoldier Rising a stand alone skirmish and Hypertuned Havok in the Broken Blade Duel chain are other examples of a 5 star note (43) that doesn't have the FAF rng silliness associated with it. I've been in zone for about 30 minutes and have had 2 opportunities already at Supersolder Rising.

It's not fair to people trying for that note to make them have to go through what is needed to spawn the chance to even get it. Many people simply don't have 2+ hours to wait for a spawn opportunity. I have lots of time but I'm also at the point now where it's not worth waiting 2+ hours for a spawn. I'll pop in randomly and hope for a new instance or go and check see where in the CE chain the instance is and whether or not Absent is on cooldown.

I don't blame the AFK'ers. It takes 15 to 20 Scorpion kills to spawn the fate if you get there in a new instance with less that 20 people and before anything else is allowed to happen. I spawned and we killed the skirmishes with only 8 in the instance and 3 actually participating. I actually got my note drop from that opportunity with my alt Kayla.

If it wasn't for the notes most 25's wouldn't be there other than for the weekly. I know my characters done with Southern ONLY go there for their weekly and that's it.

That's only for Dyunbu's field note. Sartauvoir's field note can only drop from the skirmish that spawns right after For Absent Friends (Of Steel & Flame), or from the duel against him (which happens after the CE that spawn from completing Of Steel & Flame).

I didn't even know about a possible fate chain.
When I want to do something alone there then I do it alone without asking anything.

Sorry but I don't believe it. Sartauvoir isn't even in that skirmish why would that Skirmish which has Dyunbu as the main opponent drop a Sartauvoir note. Guides like https://ffxivcollect.com/records sure don't list it as an option.

Obviously it's very rare but again I was on an alt so I could play with a friend and unexpectedly it dropped from there, and they appear in the skirmish that follows.
Maybe it was the one that followed but I doubt it because the one listed on websites is Help Wanted.

There is no skirmish that follows Help Wanted and from your comments here it does appear you're not really sure which skirmish it dropped in. You have a link to the website that lists Help Wanted as dropping the Sartauvoir note?

Still, if you would like to increase your chances of getting it I would recommend doing that skirmish line. There's nothing to lose if For Absent Friends is this rare.

The entire fate and CE system of Bozja is just unclear and unintuitive. To spawn something you need to kill a particular mob that you have to use external resources to figure out, and even then the following fate might either be on a hidden cooldown tied to last spawn or straight up blocked by other events...

They should do it like GW2, initial spawns (with a fail timer) is tied to the server time, and the mobs that need to be killed is clearly marked with it's own fate that lasts longer and takes longer to complete. And let it so that multiple CE can spawn simultaneously and that it has proper scaling so you don't need a full raid to complete it.

Now players won't have to be afraid that the event is on an unknown cooldown or locked out by griefers since they know exactly when it will appear thanks to a fixed spawn time for it's precursor and it won't be locked out if some else wants to go for another CE.

Yes, Help Wanted spawns Pyromancer Supreme which features Sartauvoir as the main enemy. I remembered it dropping from Pyromancer Supreme, so I looked it up.

Pyromancer does drop a field note which is Note 7. Note sure why it would drop 2 different notes but if you got it there you are pretty lucky. There is another fate in Zone 2 which features Sartauvoir.. That fate doesn't drop a note to my knowledge and could be a prime candidate for a fix for the spawn issue with FAF.

As a side note my alt got the 43 note this morning from Supersoldier Rising with about 5 or 6 spawns in the couple of hours I was in Zadnor. It's a 5 star note without the hassle of the FAF/Steel fate chain. Either patch it to drop in another skirmish or fix the spawn issue.

That website also listed Dyunbu's notes as drops from 'Brought to Heal' and 'No Camping Allowed' based on people's reports of it dropping there before the last patch actually added them to those Skirmishes, so it's not super accurate.

The fact those two had Dyunbu added in the patch and Sartauvoir didn't, despite both of them getting the same amount of complaints, is telling.

12 is a 4 star note 14 is a 5 star. It's certainly reasonable to expect that people shouldn't have to work that hard for a 4 star note. I'm of the opinion they shouldn't have to work that hard for a 5 star note either when other 5 star notes are not subject to the same nonsense.

Yeah I'm not saying you're wrong or right, I wasn't there, but people swore up and down they got her note from there despite it not being in the loot table before the last patch.

She's also a 4 star rarity note and he's 5 star, so maybe that has something to do with it?

I ended up getting mine from 'Of Steel and Flame' in the end.

Says a lot about what people have to say about getting notes when in fact a patch needs to in fact add them to the loot table. I know a lot of people spent time camping those skirmishes due to misinformation it appears. I still find it pretty odd a skirmish would drop two different notes but then again I'm not in a position to say it does or doesn't with certainly. I use online guides like everyone else.

I think for sure Lyon II is 5 star and people say they do up to 50 runs of Dalriada for it. It took me in that sort of territory for Lyon I from Castrum, which is also 5 star.

I've been farming Eden's Promise every day for months and still not got the 5-star card. 5-star things in this game really can mean rare.

Yeah I don't think people are purposely misreporting drops, but when you've been in there for a while and all the Skirmishes start to blend together it's easy to get confused I'm guessing? Or maybe it's just assumed because the character whose note you need shows up in the Skirmish.

I need 3 more now, but thankfully they're all in Zadnor so at least I get decent Mettle while I farm for them compared to Southern Front.

I don't think the 5 star necessarily means a lower drop rate, but it would make some sort of sense a 5 star note has fewer places it can drop, or more tedious/involved ways at least, especially with one of them being a Duel.

Lyon's CL note is 5 star and I got it in 7 runs, Meryall's note is 2 stars and I still haven't seen it, RNG is RNG in the end.
