Where is the new DNC throwing weapon?

I could of sworn there was an interview some time ago where Yoshi P said DNC was going to get another type of throwing weapon this expansion? Has that changed or will it be like every expansion after this one will be different type of throwing weapon? I want my dancing fans :)

Sadly no. I remember I was scrolling through Reddit when I read it. Someone had screenshot his response. He mentioned they we’re working on a new dancer throwing weapon. It was a long time go. Wish I would of screenshot it myself. Maybe we won’t see it until 6.0 though.

I remember this as well... but not as an actual second type (as in a different DNC's arms) but more like the silhouette itself looking like something other than a circular chakram.

So more like a glam specifically for dancer?

I do remember this, but maybe they changed their minds. The animations clearly are meant to be chakrams; knives or hatchets or whatever wouldn't really fit them unfortunately.

They’d definitely have to change the animations with every new weapon. I’m not really a fan of chakrams so I’m looking forward to fans maybe dance ribbons even. Maybe they change with each expansion because they have to change the animations. Guess we will see in 6.0.

well DNC has fans apart of its move set and fans are not really a throwing weapon

i remember Yoshi saying dancer had fans but as a skill probably what he meant or was a translation error

Everything is glamour. If they want to make a glamour specifically for dancer, they just make the dancer weapon for set X have whatever innovative design they want to give it.

But as has already been mentioned, I think they just got overenthusiastic early in the concept design, thinking they could have "all kinds" of throwing weapons like knives, but have since realised that the animations only really work with chakrams and circular weapons, though still drawing on a few different design concepts like shuriken and wind-fire wheels - not that the fighting style has much to do with how any of them work, as far as I can tell.

I think the animations limit it as well. Sometimes your character is wielding the physical chakrams, but they transition into glowing rings that are part of the battle animation and may not be showing the actual weapons at all.

Like that, yeah. As long as it's the right size and shape for the animations to make sense, they can make it look like anything they want.

I would like more variation in weapon styles, not just for DNC, but we do see some variation and innovation in other jobs like the aforementioned hammer and pickaxe. We also have MNK's using Tonfa as well as a variety of fist weapon types, heck the Tsukiyomi fist weapons almost could pass off as chakrams.

However, I ended up using Barathrum as my glamour and they're pretty unique compared to the rest of the designs:

But I agree there's a whole variety of throwing weapon styles they could appeal to and I don't think the animations always have to fit. Like the hammer and pickaxe and to add to that there's scythe glamours on the Mogstation that don't fit the animations of some jobs its available for, like DRG, for example.

Yeah well there's a difference between a melee animation and the dancer animations. You don't even gotta change anything about PLD's animation between hammers and swords. But DNC's animation clearly involves movement with projectiles that only really make sense if they are shaped in a way that can "logically" return to the thrower. At most maybe they could make them boomerangs, but with like knives it would seem like DNC is psychic.

I mean, look at the Endwalker trailer. Sage is running around with floating Nouliths, why not give DNC some magic daggers.

Exaclty that. They can think outside of the box with the current concept, like:

- Actual fans
- Shurikens (which there's 1 chakram model pretty close to that)
- Some Yuffie weapons

They use aether to augment their abilities, but non-caster classes are still ultimately physical.

Monk used chakrams and bards simply used arrows.
All throwing weapons were consumables.

But I don't actually recall a model for them outside the icon. There was absolutely the throwing animation you did when using them, but I cannot recall if there was a visible object flying through the air.

Thanks for the links.

And I wouldn't be surprised if they had a simple model, but it moved so fast it was hard to see without pausing the game (like Nin's kunai).
