Current state of the residential area's
I'm going to be bold here, me and my friend lost a house recently because we missed the 45 day deadline by 24 hours and have recently been waiting hours and hours by multiple plots and have seen the majority taken by someone relocating with one button when people without a house have been waiting 2-22 hours on more than one occasion. First of all who? and how? did someone think this was a fair decision to make? it encourages trolls who just relocate to waste people's time not only that but we all pay to play this game and I think it's a joke that you have your community waiting and spamming a button to buy a plot for 2-22 hours... a day! In my opinion it should be a first come first served basis and not have someone who waited 1 hour get the plot over someone who's waited 20 hours you're basically slapping your community in the face by doing this tell me I'm wrong.
Changes I want to see:
1. relocating should be abolished, if you have a house you should have to wait like everyone else and you should have to demolish your house to even be able to buy another.
2. 22 hours is far too long to have people waiting for a plot especially if they wait 22 hours and miss out.
3. I think it should be a first come first served basis.
4. you should not be able to relocate from a small to another small and only from a small to a medium or medium to a large (if point 1 doesn't happen).
5. there should be a minimum wait time for the time you demolish your house to be able to buy another say 24 hours, 1 week or even 1 month (to encourage people to be sure if they're buying a house they should stick with that house and be happy because you're lucky enough to have one on such a busy server).

The housing system is bad, it encourages toxic behavior like this, and it needs fixing. She shouldn't just have to "get over it".

Relocation was an improvement. The process of 'Empty, Demolish, Re-purchase' you describe was how housing worked before 2018. It was horrible. An FC can't let go of it's house if there are FC private chambers inside. So FCs that wanted to move would boot all of their members to demolish their rooms, then empty the house, then demolish it, then purchase the new house, then re-invite all FC members who would each pay 300k gil to re-purchase their FC private chambers, and then each member would collect their room's contents from Resident Caretaker. They have only 30 days to collect, if not their items are wiped permanently, including seasonal decorations and mog station cash shop items. Mind you, if you lost anyone's name or they don't log back on in the next couple days, they're gone for good. It's an FC killer, in some cases. It's really bad for a social game. You're asking for this to come back??! With relocation, members can stay in the FC and their private chamber decorations even stay intact each move.

The timer itself needs to go. Currently the relocation system dictates "you only camp once, and then you can move anywhere." You want to make every move a new camp? You're actually advocating for more pain for players, and more wasted hours. "100 hours camping and then 3 instant moves? How about 400 wasted hours instead? That'll teach you!"

The answer is NOT to make the process even more painful.

The only problem is if you take the timer out, what do you replace it with? The problem before the timer was that people would dash out to an open house, buy it, and then hold it ransom:

You are player A, you want a house.
Player B gets to the placard first, buys the house for 3 million gil.
Player B says "I dont actually want this. If you pay me 40 million gil, I'll leave and you can have it"
Player A pays player B 40 million gil.
Player B destroys his house.
Player A buys the house for 3 million gil.

This happened every day. Newer players like you, taxed 20 and 40 million gil by faster (or cheating) players. So the timer was created to make the process impossible, and stop the cheaters from taking their ransoms.

My personal suggestion is that we take the timer away, and boost placard pricing to 40 million gil small, 200 million medium, 500 million large. Then only players who actually craft/farm/play will be house shopping, and people who are still just getting into the game are out there playing it. edit: This would also add a gil sink of more than 30 billion gil per year per server to the game, and boy do we need one.

I've been playing XIV since 2014 and I have almost 14K hours in the game I currently have 40+m gil I'm sorry but that's ridiculous 500m I've probably made just over 100m total since I 1st started playing I would lean more toward 10m small 35m medium and 80m large, I would absolutely not be player A because I hate people who try to make a profit in a video game you're a scumbag human being if you even do that! I'll say something else though I'd be happy with a token system where if you show up 1st and touch the placard 1st you get 1 token and when you sum up let's say 3 tokens you can buy the next plot that spawns or something like that at least.

I agree that house prices should be at least doubled (maybe tripled?) from what they are now, but boosting it to the hundreds of millions would just encourage more people to either bot their way to riches or buy gil through RMT.

I think there should be a cooldown timer on house relocating, though - being able to jump houses immediately seems kind of unfair and I've seen some people grief by jumping between small plots with the relocate feature.

Plenty of people were, though. It was a common practice to find a reseller and pay them before paying the placard, securing your small house for 43,000,000 gil. The gil, more likely than not, was immediately sent into RMT circulation.

Unfortunately the only real solution is 'houses for everyone' where we get instanced housing or 80 wards to accommodate all players.

As long as we have these limited numbers of houses, something will have to determine who gets them and who doesn't. For now it's the timer.

And 500m for a large isn't all that crazy, considering each server only has enough larges for 432 players and 144 FCs to have them. You get about a million or two a week without having to do anything but keep up with roulettes and MB your tome/GC seal goods/materia. Dedicated money making techniques usually produce a million or two an hour. I think if you want to be in the top 432 players on your server, you can make money for ~250 hours without issue.

The system sucks, yes. But it sucked a lot more before relocation was a thing. I'm not saying things are good but this suggestion would only make things worse.

I'm with Illy on this one price's doubled or tripled and like Illy said the majority of players only have the type of money you're talking would encourage more bots and gil sellers a cooldown timer 100% needs implementing against people who already have a house nobody should be able to instantly swap houses there's nothing fair about that wards need doubling I'm afraid instanced housing is a bad idea imo I'm really hoping that they're at the very least going to add 50% more wards to the game when they add Ishgard housing

relocating needs changing end of. Five minutes should be changed to at least a week people without a house have to wait up to 22 hours or longer as there's never just one guy waiting for a plot on Jenova we had two plots the other day in different places both had 10 people waiting for them... people with houses should be happy they even have a house rather than walking up past all those people waiting and buying it with 1 button push it's a joke I'm sorry but it is and I'm deadly serious when I say a week timer between buying plots I'd even say a month or 90 days

That should be your real suggestion, right there. Getting rid of the relocation system would put an FC killer into a social game, so that's obviously not an option.

Though much like you think of my price suggestion, I think the numbers are high. Maybe one relocation a day is a good limit. That way a plot's hidden timer could expire before the same person can relocate it again.

With your reconsidered suggestion making it so any person or FC could only move an existing house once a day/week, each relocation would have to be well considered. Now you have to think about if this plot is your end goal and worth this day/week's relocation, or if it's merely a stepping stone that could cost you a valuable opportunity later.

The only concern is this brings the FC killer back, just with reduced frequency since it'll only apply to FCs wanting a second relocation within a day/week, rather than every FC anywhere that wants to relocate, ever.

the best way to solve this is to have a loot roll system like in every duty in the game ever you have say a 2-3 hour timer when the timer reaches 0 who ever rolls the highest within that 2-3 hour window wins the house it's that simple to fix everyone can do it weather you have a house or not it's fair it's in almost every duty in the game complete RnG nobody ever complains about a loot roll and if you roll low like a 10 you know your not gonna win and you can move on to another plot to try your chances there if you roll high you know you can stay wait out that 2-3 hour window if you win it's fair, the current way of it spamming buttons 1 million times is wrong, you roll you wait you win some you lose at least you wouldn't have to spam a stupid button for 22 hours a day until you win

No it shouldn't. Relocations is one of the better features available and allows people to upgrade to a larger house or a better location. It does not remove a house from the market only changes the location. No problem with a cooldown for reuse however.

As much as we would all absolutely LOVE to have the housing issues fixed, Square Enix priorities are clearly not part of housing. Sure, they will throw some wards to try and appease the masses, but it unfortunately only appeases the minority of the masses - because those are the ones with a house.

It's a garbage system. We have to live with it, because they aren't going to change it. Instanced housing is obviously the answer, and not a ward system that can't handle the load. I still don't understand this, because I am not privy to the server model schema that SE employs, but there are older games out there able to perfectly handle this type of system (DAoC for one) and not have a problem with housing or server issues, even when it was implemented. This is either an underperforming server farm, or a poorly implemented plan, or a combination. Either way, we are stuck with someone who doesn't have any business with setting up this type of environment, yet they are hell-bent on keeping the ward system for that 'neighborly' feeling.

It sounds more like a pride problem on Square's end.

I think nearly all your concerns would be addressed by a lottery system to make it super fair and square.

You can run up to a plot you wish to buy, buy a lottery ticket that's the price of the plot from the house's placard, and the ticket gets refunded back once the winner has been drawn and has claimed their prize within 24-hours, if not, those with tickets still will be re-entered.


I don't have an issue with relocation because you're making space in another area and I think punishing those who own houses isn't the way to fix the system.

I don't have an issue with relocation because you're making space in another area and I think punishing those who own houses isn't the way to fix the system.

This gets suggested frequently but it grossly underestimates the actual potential outcome.

Imagine if all you had to do to get a chance as the house was buy a ticket. What if you could buy more than one? Not only that, but how many more people would you have to fight to get the house, since they too can just buy one or more tickets?

Does the server refund all your Gil for your non-winning tickets? If not, what’s fair about that?

A lottery seems good on the surface but when you start to analyze it as an option it really starts to show its flaws.

Lottery plays into the hands of people with multiple accounts and people who are botting. There's a reason it isn't in use.

I think it's massively unfair that someone that already has a house can come and take a plot away from someone who's been waiting say more than 10 hours at that plot yes it might open another plot but then the timer is reset and might not become available to buy until the 22nd hour I think if you don't show up within the 1st hour of the plot going active you shouldn't be able to relocate plain and simple because you're screwing people over that have probably waited up to 22 hours on more than one occasion

You camp once, then it's over. Once you're personally done with your camp, you'll be glad you don't have to camp a medium, you just get to move in.

A longer cooldown for relocation is possibly a good idea. Abolishing relocation just isn't. The relocation system was an improvement to a bad system that still needs a lot of improvement. Taking an improvement away just makes it worse.

Today your attitude about relocation is this. Tomorrow you'll be screaming a new tune once you get your house and they do abolish relocation and suddenly you can't move into that medium or large you wanted for so long. People's opinions change so much along this process. You will be no exception.

Could you not just report them? If they're caught by a GM that's going to be far more punishing to them than missing one house could ever be.

I hate autoclickers as well but they're also victims of the housing situation. Many players are pushed to the point that they feel their only chance for a house is to cheat. The use of autoclicking is just another symptom of the terrible system. I have little pity for those who are caught and punished by SE, they knew the risks they were taking when they chose to cheat, but I recognise that they're there because of a situation SE created.

i doubt gms even bother look at the reports of house clicking bots. I fully support Awha and his methods. Hard to steal houses from legit players with no gil left.

1. Relocating is working as intended, you wont lose a plot in game as the place relocated from becomes available.
2. I think it should be more or like a 72 hour waiting system, with a 3 clicks per day ratio per plot, it is better, and it neutralizes botting.
3. First come first serve, it used to be like that, it is not like that anymore as heavy RMT was involved and real estate agents and such in game, the times came on, so you could not just sell the plot directly to someone who had highest bid.
4. Relocation no matter size should not matter all, and would just create even more massive camping whenever a large or medium comes available + much more griefing or feeling like it, if someone is able to relocate into on.
5. if you demolish your house, you need to wait or click day and night like everyone else, elsewhere, relocation however, put a 8 hour time on relocating or something, so you can just relocate at once to grief players, or to use their auto clicking bots to empty your bank account with low lvl items at millions, by using a retainer.

The only option is more wards. Period. And not in just Ishgard (because personally I think it is the ugliest of the 5). Instanced housing just separates the community between 'haves' and 'have-nots'. As long as a real plot exists, I don't want anything else.

They know. If you remember the August 2020 announcement ahead of Octobers new wards, se said essentially "Wards require physical servers. Due to covid, we cannot deliver them. We will optimize all existing server space, and add all the wards we can."
So it's very likely that wards 25-30 or at least 25-27 will be released not long after travel restrictions ease.

They better open all the plots for purchase this time. Giving transfers and FC's first priority is the dumbest thing.

Except it's not. There's FC specific content that's gated by house ownership. FCs should have priority so they can access that content.

Not having the personal moratorium created a mess in 5.35. Houses were gone before most NA players had gotten up for the day. There were a few dozen plots left that were now on a purchase timer because players had bought the house then immediately relocated. A lot of FCs got locked out of a chance to get a house.

What SE does need to change is the length of the personal moratorium. We get plenty of advance warning that the new wards are being added so FCs can be prepared to buy at release. Have the moratorium last one week instead of having 6-8 weeks of half empty wards because all the FCs who wanted a house already got theirs and the additional delay only serves those players making shell FCs to get more houses for personal use.

They don't need weeks which does nothing but spawn abuse. Personally with new ward additions I don't think they should get any priority. If they get one a day head start at the most. And maybe just maybe they need to remove the FC gated stuff and give it to everyone. Airships and Subs need to go to GC. Those perks generally benefit the leadership and not the general membership anyway.

The way i see it is there's three solutions to the housing issue.

1- remove the clicking thing and instigate a ticket system where you place a bid and win the house at random. This makes buying the house Fair, except that bots and gill sellers would just flood the system with alts and probably win due to the number of characters.
2- add more wards - this just ends up in the same cycle. Wards open: A batch of people get the houses they want, a load do not. The clicking war begins again.
3- abolish the housing system in the way it is designed now, or leave it where no further updates will be made, and instead create an instanced version, that you can upgrade as you go along. So it starts as a hut but with enough effort and time, you could unlock a mansion.

There may be other solutions, but these are the ones I can think of.

The only option is the second one. Adding instanced housing but allowing others to keep 'real' plots would just divide the community more. They need to dynamically add wards. When one ward fills in a certain area, add another. There would be a lot more houses and bots wouldn't be able to profit because everyone will get a house. That or completely delete all 'real' plots and allow everyone to have an instanced house so it becomes equal and fair for the community (obviously not realistic).

FF14 style of housing, the truth is supply will never meets demand because they are not using the phase technology that WoW used for Garrison.
If it is a world space and you can physically edit it, it will be limited.
