Personal Loot

So I've been raiding the last tiers of eden and its been swell. Except for one thing, I haven't gotten a single upgrade in weeks from bad rolls to simply dropping gear that isn't bis for my job. Aye they drop tokens but it takes 6 weeks to get one piece of upgrade. Now whatdya reckon that they are keeping loot like this instead of everyone getting 1 coffer and a token.

Everyone getting one coffer would mean a boss would drop 5 items more per kill. Which in turn means that people gear up much faster, the content gets outgeared much faster and would be dead quickly because gear plays a huge part in how difficult a fight is.
Like it or not but the slow gear progression keeps raiders occupied for longer.
And if you have such bad luck, you can try to look into statics that fit your schedule.

I think there should be two types of loot now that I've seen the personal loot from CLL and DR in Bozja.

You can still roll for the armor pieces in Raids to get the equipment instantly. However, if that fails with you being unlucky that it never drops or someone beats your roll the second loot is a unique coin which you could turn in to purchase one of the loot from an NPC Vendor.

So there's two methods. One the is currently the same for all and current Raids and other to slow build up in case RNG has not be kind to you so you can run the place multiple times. I would love this, because sometimes I do the Raid when I can and the week is nearly over and still haven't gotten the item I wanted so this could alleviate some issues with missing.

That said though if they don't want people to farm for coins to purchase all of the armor pieces I suggest even 50 or so coins and you're limited to one purchase a week or it's treated the same as the weekly loot lock. Either get it as a drop or purchase, but you can't get more than one per week until they lift the restrictions.

For savage?
No, the gear grind is tailored to only allow a certain number of equipment drops, with the tokens being the guaranteed method.
You get 2-3 pieces that drop per fight, depending on the fight. If you had personal loot, then the RNG would have to be set up so that you only actually get a drop 25% of the time. That could mean that your static could get a clear, and nobody would get a drop due to a bad RNG roll.
As you clear this content with a static, you're all working together anyway, so what benefits one person also benefits the others. This means that occasions where no one gets anything effects everyone. As it's set out currently, it means teams can coordinate to assign gear to the people who need it the most.

No, one of worst mechanic every created and caused WoW's downfall, this is one of them.
Put this mechanic into FF14, definitely not

Not exactly needed for FFXIV though it wouldn't hurt to have for those times you want to target a specific glamour.

The removal of master-loot was far from one of the reasons wow have declined. What it did do was putting a complete stop to griefing party leaders taking all the loot for themselves/friends.

Why not handle it like in WoW where everyone has their individual roll. I honestly think that would be the best solution, you still need a bit of luck but the chances of getting loot would be much better.

The chances of getting loot would be whatever they make the chances of getting loot.
It's currently 1/8 per roll, as you're rolling against 7 other people, they'd just make personal loot the same chance.
Then you could get instances where no one gets anything, and as savage is team content, that would screw over the whole team for a whole week.

Just a dose of reality, the devs added personal loot on WoW to avoid having people focusing gearing mains for the Raid race, not because of ninja looting.
The ninja looting was never an issue if you knew where you were going. You could simply not join raid with Master loot on.

So no, don't come with this garbage e-sport tryhard system here.

The problem with this is you can't be strategic with who gets upgrades first, which is something many raid teams do. Another issue is it's very rare for a class to have savage gear as their BiS in every slot, so with personal loot you run the risk of automatically looting something you don't need or want, but you can't give it to someone else who does.

Well maybe, but as you said its a % chance, so they could just adjust the chance to whatever they see fit. As far i had understand right now you could still go out empty handed each week. I think everything would stay the same as it is now, you just have a better chance of getting your stuff if they do it right and for the Loot, they could just restrict it to your active class. They already have something similar with the 100% drop for your active class when you beat the last boss in a dungeon, i think it should be possible to modify this a bit.

As for the non trade, they could make it tradeable within a limited timeframe between the players that where in your group. In WoW its 2h if i remember right where you can trade your loot between the partymembers, after that its soulbound.

I played shadowlands, so how that happened during Castle Natria Heroic. We were raiding with 20 people, 3 random people would receive loot from the boss. With that rng there was some members that spent 4 weeks without a single loot piece drop his upgrades all came from the weekly chest, oh and they farmed relentlesly M+ too that used the same "brilliant" loot system you want to implement.
There is positive stuff from WoW that could be implemented in FF, but the loot system ain't one of then.

No. Personal loot is horrible in WoW and i don't want to see it here ever

While I think its cool that the current system allows for the funneling of resources to the dps for easier clears but thats for statics. What about those that do pugs or whose statics fall apart?

And what people are trying to tell you is that the drop rate of loot is part of the balance of the entire tier, and that personal loot just swaps one set of problems for another.

It's not as if savage is the only avenue for good raid gear anyway. There are other pieces you can get that have zero rng. No one is pigeonholed into having just one source of loot.

We see what you're saying. We just disagree.

Also personal loot is widely hated in WoW. It hurts statics a lot.

Alrighty I'll just keep on rolling then. Besides tomestone and crafted gear what other avenues of raid gear is there? I've already gotten all the tomestone gear I need and I've replaced the crafted gear with them.

If you don't feel incetivized to do certain thing in game because there is a more efficient path, do you need a slapstick huge message yelling go join a static?

Everyone always hits a point in which the gearing stops for a while whether they're waiting on certain loot to drop, waiting for someone else to get that loot first, or waiting for the new alliance raid tokens to upgrade gear. This isn't a situation unique to those who pug. With personal loot that can still happen because you don't get to choose what you loot. You could want piece A but keep getting piece B instead every time you kill that boss.

Never going to happen.

You have to remember when Eden's Promise savage dropped there is immediately available: i510 crafted and NM raid, i520 tome, and i530 savage gear.

You can't allow personal i530 inflation from day one, the content out there gets obliterated too fast. Cutting down DPS and heal checks.

They'll wait about 3+ months to give one i530 upgrade to everyone who doesn't do savage for doing 3x Nier Raids.

They'll wait about 4+ months to unlock savage where it's 2 chest every clear, and you can get your "personal" loot that way, they might even do it even sooner to advert unsubs due to no ultimate.

your bad luck protection is the weekly pages. spend them on gear you need.

the first time you clear a floor each week, you get a page corresponding to each floor. 4 pages from 9 nets you an accessory, 6 for a belt. 4 pages from 10 gets you a tome accessory upgrade item, 6 for raid head/ hands/ feet. 4 pages from 11 gets you a tome left side upgrade item, 8 pages for raid pants. 8 pages from 12 gets you a raid chest piece or an i535 weapon.


the pages allow you to eventually buy armor that you don't win via rolls so long as you keep clearing every week. you are guaranteed gear within a set amount of clears even assuming you are incredibly unlucky and never win a coffer or upgrade material.

Not getting a drop?
That's a fact of life. You're not gonna win them all.

People were regularly complaining about dead drops from raids during ARR, HW and StB, ShB's coffer system was added to fix that, and that was even with a 100% chance of something being in the chests. Chance of an empty chest would just make things far worse.

Why the impatience? You will get your gear eventually thanks to the books.
If that's not fast enough for you, you might want to look into statics after all because that's the place for coordinated loot distribution and many statics don't have the dps > tank > heal priority but take turns. You won a bis item, you're locked from loot until everyone got an item. Repeat every week.
Just because you can pug doesn't mean it has to be optimal in every way. Raiding has always be designed as a team activity and the fact that you can pug it at all is something relatively new in MMOs so some people aren't completely excluded.
But it's still encouraged to look for a static if you want to avoid certain things like: trap parties, bad luck with rolls, strategies not suited for your class, poor teamplay etc.; even if it's just a semi-static of regulars you picked up in PF.

There is absolutely no way in hell they will add a 100% drop plus book for everyone. And if they added it as a chance to keep the current gear progression, you can equally bad luck and get the same non bis item 3 times in a row, wasting your nice 25% or whatever on something useless again.

The only changes I'd care to see for the loot system are as followed:

- Eden's Promise (or equivalent "door" bosses) dropping a page which can be combined with any other page. For example, say you wanted at an accessory and had three pages from E9S. You could then combine that page from Eden's Promise to buy it a week early.
- Change the loot restriction to allow for two or less previously cleared players to join a two coffer party without impacting loot.
