relic grind i wished would of happen

these weapons are surrounded with lore, the 2.0 books could of showed up once again and introduce who wielded the Queens Blades and put us through a quest to unlock the weapon power on the battlefield. x amount of mobs to kill, x amount of any critical engagements to do and a 100% drop rate for the memories for the first step. Second step new memories still needed with a 100% drop rate and selected Crtitcals engagements to do. third step 15 new memories still needed with 100% drop rate and complete the 48 man raid locked in Bozjan with weapon equipped and reward the person with the new item needed to re roll their stats. if they don't like the stats they can rerun the 48 man to get the item again. Hell, the three books needed can have a price with the coins you get in Bozjan. with the exception for the first weapon its free (this is for people getting in and don't have the currency needed). the 48 man raid rewards need some love! more coins i mean a lot a lot, some exotic in-game dyes, Materia, old minion (good minions). I don't mind grinding because Im retired and been on FFXIV since 2.0 with 100% uptime on FFXIV, I have 2.0 and 3.0 relics. But the Grind is becoming ridiculous with this Bozjan Gear 1000 to 500 coins to upgrade a piece. this place will die, no matter what they do, but in the mean time, if they up the rewards in the 48 man raid more people will do it because the new Judge looking armor is on point and requires the old Augmented Armour to complete it. and if they do a second area and the armour you get in there requires the older version. then people wont be turn off from going back to the old area and getting coins to acquire the gear, but if the coins you get remain the same people will turn away because why go in for a more risk and less reward raid.

Players will slog through the grind happily if:

1. The weapons look awesome as heck.
2. The ilvl is high enough to justify the grind.
3. The content is fun.

SE threw all that out the window and went: "We need to get veteran players playing old content again to fill 24-man spots hurrrrrr. We need new players coming in to feel like the game is active!"

yeah till ppl get tired of running them, im already starting to hate the old 24 mans

I feel there needs to be two things that happen when relics are released: at minimum, they should be the same ilvl as the base Tomestone gear throughout and then Savage level at the final step. Two, new content should be the best route to get the gear with alternative, more casual but grindier ways available.

Neither of these apply to relics. They are objectively worse than even the non-augmented Tomestone gear AND the casual grind is really the only option. And in some steps BETTER than the Bozja grind.

The 1rst step of the new relics is for the new players who still are in ARR, not for the ppl who actually do the relics. Same for HW and SB. Why choosing thoose and make any other options worse if it's not only for the new players ?

Trying to help newer players is fine, but making that a gring is a mistake imo.

There's a lot content that's behing ignored after ppl complete it. Content being done unsynced only where you almost don't see any mecanic anymore. When you farmed your bis in savage, there's almost no reason to return. Same for weapons and mounts in extreme (ppl even stop trying because they don't want to go for 99 try each Time).

Even newer dungeons are more fun, some of lvl 70-80 as well.

This is were the fun is: content that is new and don't do often. Bojza and New content should be the things to do 1rst, and then the harder it get and the better reward will be.

Ppl who want easy grind should have the grindier options. It's not bad if you want to finish a relic without caring to much but not if it's the only way to do it

This whole relic grind is just a ploy to get new players to feel like the old areas are still populated and the 24 man raids are heavy populated. Something needs to change.

Relics purpose seems to be misunderstood. A lot of people are referring to it as a casual thing but I don’t think they ever have been. They’ve been accessible to all which is different from being casual. I don’t remember any end of expansion where literally everyone is running around with them. A few things caused this I think.

1. Previous relic grinds have been heavily nerfed so this has become new players expectation of what a relic should be like.

2. The opening steps were way too easy. They usually start with a huge grind. This caused pretty much everyone to start them and now they are understandably disappointed they’ve got to do a big grind.

As for the relic and set up itself, I wish the whole thing were in Bozja and tied more to the story. I know technically you can do it there but they’ve done everything they can to make you not want to.

That’s just at the moment. Right now PF will be the most optimal time efficient way. In a short while DF will be and they’ll queue.

Yes they have, they are the casual alternative to hardcore weapons. The place you're misunderstanding is that you think grind and casual are mutually exclusive. They're not. A casual player can do the grind required over time, being diligent about any daily quest requirements and farming items casually at their own pace. Some can engage with the heavy grind if they really want the relic now. But they were casual alternatives because they were many-step processes that had grind that could be done all at once or over time and not tied to mandatory party content, or at least nothing more than what was already required by MSQ.

Very simple to fix this.

Just refuse to do it!

As long as you continue to do whatever SE wants you're not gonna see any improvements, they'll look at the number of participations and conclude that it was totally a success.

They have always been a casual weapon. Obtaining one and upgrading it has never been difficult or challenging. Tedious, sure. Atma was tedious, ridiculously so, but spamming fates wasn't hard. Having the patience was the hardest part. The only time I can remember it actually being a challenge was back in ARR when Titan HM was the gatekeeper to a finished relic. It took me a month to actually get a clear. That is not an exaggeration. Titan HM back then was quite a step up in difficulty so a lot of people couldn't handle it. Even then the hardest part was trying to get 7 other people to be on the same page.

Also, there were plenty of people at the end of ARR with a finished relic. Same with HW. And...same with Stormblood. It will be the case with Shadowbringers as well. Not everyone has completed one and some never will, but they aren't rare even when they are current content. Not by a long shot. Relics are less of a test of skill and more of a test of patience. It just requires a certain mindset, which is what a lot of the MMO crowd has because that is how they've been conditioned. And it is also why some can't help but laugh when some say certain steps are difficult.

Honestly, part of my problem is that I have waited for years to have a gunblade job, so I wasn't about to miss out on the dyeable AF or the relic weapon, as much as I may dislike the methods for obtaining them. Sure, I could not do things, but with GNB being my dream job I feel obligated to get everything my casual self can get.
