Crafting Jobs Should Share EXP and Levels

Basically, since now all crafting jobs are basically the same, I believe they should be updated so that they all level up at the same time, like SMN/SCH. This would allow people to not have to buy multiple sets of gear for each crafting job for being different levels.

Only if they compensate this by dramatically, and I mean dramatically reducing all forms of exp for crafters. I don't relish the prospect of being able to level all my crafters in the time span of probably less than 4 hours.

Curious, why not? You would be able to focus on crafting more. Also, my idea was for if this is added is that first all your crafting jobs will be boosted to the level of your highest crafting job, and then will share exp.

Bc its already way WAAAAAYYY too easy and fast now... IF we do that we might as well share all exp on all jobs so you dont have to level that much...

Well far be it for me to assert my mentality onto others, but all crafters have had this expansion, and to a small degree last expansion is an utter exorcism of nigh on all and any form of grinding that was previously present for crafters, so whilst some may enjoy the prospect in capping all crafting jobs in the matter of a couple of hours, I personally certainly don't since it pretty much undermines and degrades the majority of the effort previously put into levelling. But this aside though, it's an MMO, and honestly, the grind and timesinks to reach level caps and access to certain pieces of content should be integral to any MMO. Subtract that, or delve into that mentality shift, and honestly, I could probably find quite a few single-player RPG games that would be more of a timesink to me. If leveling crafters became this easy I really don't want to think what shifts we'd see in the economy when everyone and their grandfather become utterly self-sufficient. In fact, if crafting became any what less difficult of tedious than already is (lack thereof), then I'd probably focus on combat more since it'd yield just as much, if not more profits.

And what's wrong with being fast? And my main point was because all crafting jobs have the same skills (unlike combat jobs), so if all shared the same level people could seamlessly switch between each one. Like, seriously, how does getting to max level faster a problem?

Only if all healers and all tanks share exp too. lol

But they don't share the same skills. Crafters do. Seriously, the best rotation for one crafting jobs will be the same for another. You know how to play ALC? You know how to play all other crafting jobs.

Hey~
I use a single crafter (a level 80 ALC), and if this means I now have all crafters maxed can suddenly repair all my own gear then I'm all for this lol.

Yes, that's exactly my point. lol
I know how to play <healer> and when I level another <healer> I just need to memorise different skill pictures. The abilities are mostly the same. Only the particles change. Also, I was being sarcastic with the shared exp. I like leveling up. Why do you want to take that away from me? D:

Some ppl like me really like leveling. To me its actually way more fun then the endgame grind lol

Why not just give everyone max level DoH/DoL without any effort at all?

Just for the heck of it, I decided to level an alt 0-80 on BSM today (the first DoH class I'm leveling on the character). Here it is 7 hours after I started and I'm about to craft the last 2 collectables I need to hit 80. I could have done it much faster if I was using pre-made items instead of crafting every quest and leve item with the character (I had to stop to update gear several times).

To me, that is far too fast to be leveling a single class let alone 8 classes. There needs to be some time investment involved if you want to have multiple classes/jobs.

I mean, basically, I don't want to have to juggle though crafting jobs so they all level at the same pace. I want have it so I only have to buy one gear set per 5 or 10 levels instead of multiple.

You don't need to buy it more often than that as long as you stick to the general crafting gear instead of getting the class specific gear. It's far to easy to level up quickly to need it more often.

I got gear at 5, 21, 41, 51, 56 (HW has a rather big jump in stats), 63, 71 and finally 80. I was buying the NQ gear off vendors unless it was cheaper on the MB until the level 71 set (my alt can't get to Crystarium to buy from the vendor there). I did keep sockets melded with level appropriate materia, and added one extra meld on the level 51+ gear using some super cheap Command III I found on the MB (60-70% success rate so I rarely lost any). The level 5 gear was a convenience I easily could have bypassed.

The important thing is to keep both primary and secondary tools up to date since they're going to give you the bulk of your craftsmanship and control. As they aren't shared, you can get rid of them as soon as you get an upgrade.

I don't think players should be able to just spend a couple hours and have access to every crafting item in the game. I like the way crafting is now and frankly, I like that I have a different class for each type of craft. I'm certainly not wanting to lose all 8 of my Skysung tools for a single Universal one. Not after all the months I spent leveling up each one before the restoration of Ishguard made it doable in a few days.

If you don't want to spend the gil or the time leveling up the crafting jobs then don't do it. But dumbing it all down for the entire playerbase is not the answer.

SE is already making combat jobs and some fights easier, we don't need even more things to be easier.
Also I feel like everyone being at lvl 80 on all crafters would have a bad impact on the market.

If it's that much of an issue, just buy your way to level 80. Can't you do that?

I think he was referring to using gil to purchase leve items off the MB to level, not any sort of RMT.

Leveling is how we acquire the recipes we're able to make so there's still that distinction between the class. A weaver can't make a dragoon's lance. An Armorer can't make a Max-Potion.

Yeah, but note that you automatically learn each recipe when you level up, so having them all share the same levels and EXP wouldn't change anything on that front.

Oh, and if they did this they could always just put more recipes behind job quests and master books.

They could also make future Beast Tribe and Custom Deliveries actually require you use a lore appropriate crafter to make certain stuff, eg, a CUL would not be able to make something like a metal ingot.

The thing that bothers me with crafters is that they all feel the same and every craft is identical. There's no distinction in what you're making or the sort of process required to go about it - you just hit a sparkly ball with the same sequence of skills whether you're assembling intricate clockwork or building a house.

I don't like this idea because it's super easy to level one with crafting and leave quests and jo quests

This is a funny debate. In honesty, I play the game for the crafting and I would sulk if I could level them all at once. Sure they have the same idea behind each move, synthesis and control, but the storylines for each are unique. The crafting log for each is unique. The amount of effort needed to level them up (too easy at the moment I admit - I remember a time when knowledge of foods was essential) is rewarding. After all the effort I put in to level them up individually to suddenly have it change to where you only need to level carpenter to have a maxed-out culinarian doesn't make sense to me.
I hope they find a whole new disciple of hand or land to include where we have to start from level 1 again. (maybe a mosaic maker for housing reasons and antique gatherer like an archaeologist type gatherer. I dunno thinking out loud) Point is, nah, I like levelling them individually, it feels fulfilling.

I agree with this. I had every job class leveled up to 70 before Ishguard restoration was a thing. Then I watched someone get there in a few days.

If you're too lazy to level up every crafting job today with all the help that's out there, you don't deserve to call yourself an Omni-Crafter.

Sort of have to agree they're basically all identical clones especially now cross-class doesn't exist. I'd hate to have 8 dps who all had the exact same toolkit but used different weapons and needed leveling separately. Removing cross-class skills was fair, but it's a shame there isn't a way to differentiate each class more in an interesting way. I guess it's just too much work to design and balance some unique abilities for each crafter.

I didn't play this game when it firstly came out, but we're crafting/gathering more unique before?

Or were they always this very similar since day one?

Used to be that most of them had crafting actions you'd u lock for use across all your crafting classes. That way, if you wanted to craft well you had to level them all.
They've since nixed that.
