Current State of Castrum just proves how bad Bozja is

No one does castrum anymore. The rewards are trash. The only reason why people are doing Bozja is to level alt classes. I still cannot believe we lost a deep dungeon for this.

Can SE stop making garbage content like this in the future?

This was completely not worth losing a deep dungeon.

I don't know why they keep trying to make Diadem work and it annoys me that they're trying to force it so hard. They sacrifice dungeons and deep dungeon in exchange for trying to make a version of Diadem that doesn't suck.

Bozjan is the best version of Diadem so far but I still just dislike the kind of content it offers.

Between this and Blue Mage... I mean are there really that many players in this game that enjoy just mindlessly grinding for hours on end?

They stated wanted to put DD back on the drawing board and release it early in the 6.x series, as said in an interview some time ago, they never stated it was cut to make Bozja that's only player assumptions however, Bozja does have problems but they've been pretty good at addressing most of them so far hopefully the rest of the suggestions go through as well

Kay - This is the one that also complains about other peoples glamour.

Each content have their strengths and weaknesses, and I loved old Diadem (was so exciting to have powerful pink gears) and even more Eureka because the exploration had meaning with secrets to discover (and it was huge zones).
They were dangerous, long last and were even more friendly inside the team and between the teams.

Bozja has none of this and just looks like a normal zone we are used to see in each expansion (with a more elaborated fates system).
Hopefully the story and music are quite good which are the strengths of Shadowbringers, but that's it.

When I think they could have used the Dream Dungeon system to make a great content.
They put in fact surely many hours to design the solo instance, but didn't reuse it for a multi purpose ?
It's a shame, especially when it says that the dream aspect can change in function of the dreamers.
Sooo, we could have a content where many possibilities, paths and secrets would change the experience each time we get there (random & proc by players).

It's a shame, castrum is fun but past the first clear, there's no real reason to run it anymore. If there were decent mount and minion drops, which could've been done, it would've survived.

That and if the average player was capable of beating fights with 3 mechanics each.

Bozja is evidence that FF14 is in decline. The playerbase, the amount of content and the quality thereof are all in decline.

Castrum just needs an incentive. I was on at 7ST yesterday, middle of peak, zero people in a full instance doing Castrum. It actually timed out and not a single person queued for it.

My gripe with Bozja is how the top fates are so undertuned compared to others in middle and bottom zones. Fate in middle and bottom zone can take 5+ minutes to kill and feel like they have billions in HP. Top fate pops and it’s blink and miss it. Be it the one for the Note, the collection fates, even the big Construct fate feels squishy as heck. Yet the plant fate near base can take nearly a full timer if less than 2 full party is there. Lol even middle construct fate lasts longer than the top one and arguably has mor people able to take part

As much as the OP is a constant troll he’s kinda right. Diadem.. fate farming. Eureka... fate farming. Bojza... fate farming. I’m sorry but that’s not fun content and was dead and boring in 2.0. Levelling classes in northern thanalan, it’s been done to death now

I hope it's not so dead that I won't be able to do it. Players being blocked from progressing through the storyline because there's not enough participants for some instance would be a major issue.

That's exactly what's going on right now. I still don't understand why Square still thinks garbage content like this is a good idea. Why would anyone think grindy content with a death penalty is a good idea especially in 2020.

This garbage might've worked in the past, but it'll certainly not work these days.

Deep dungeons are trash. Bozja is far more fun, in my opinion.

Some people like it. There's an entire game based on pretty much that exact concept. In an MMORPG it's not a requirement that all players like all the content. But if the players who want to do the content can't successfully do so due to too low participation that's a problem.

Because they based it off Eureka which was based off how things were done in FFXI which they did because people asked for that type of thing in this game - so they gave people what they asked for in side content.

Main issue I am seeing is after the story quest the place is seriously pointless. You lose a STUPID amount of mettle, the raid experience is based around raids I would see organized in WoW to organize it correctly and the rewards are straight up trash for the amount of time in there.

My main issue is losing such a severe amount of mettle makes me never want to tank it. It is fun to run the one with other people and the critical engagements are fun but Castrum just seems pointless for the time investment.

Even the gear the zone offers is 5 ilvls lowers then the current 500 ilvl and you are capped at 430 ilvl anyways so seriously what is the point in rushing grinding 1,500!!! coins to upgrade the gear.

I'm not that guy, but personally, I don't expect to like literally everything. Crafting will probably never be my thing so I just don't do it.

But it is definitely annoying when they draw resources away from stuff I do like in order to make something I don't.

Like, I get that a lot of people find dungeons boring. That's good feedback. And it's fair, they're long hallways full of trash with bosses every 2-3 pulls, their dungeon design leaves a bit to be desired even though I do think they're fun.

So their response is to... cut back on the number of dungeons being made instead of trying to fix their dungeon design?

Meanwhile Diadem is the most poorly received content they've made since the re-launch of the game, but that's the thing they keep trying to make work.

I just don't get it. I feel like there'd be more interest in better designed, more challenging dungeons than in making yet another version of Diadem.

Apparently you think this is good idea. Deep Dungeons are grindy content with a death penalty. Grinding for gear upgrades, grinding for health potions, losing hours of progress when you die...

Yep. I played FF11 back in the day, and EverQuest before that which was very similar. Eureka did not capture the spirit of those games at all. If for no other reason than those games did not have long rotations like this game does, which makes that kind of experience extremely tedious when translated over into this game.

But Arillyn isn't wrong, recapturing the spirit of old-school MMORPGs was the intent of Eureka. I just thought they did a bad job of it, speaking as someone who was there for it and has nostalgia for those games.

I actually did play FFXI from NA launch until shortly after Abyssea. I agree, there is absolutely more to FFXI than losing xp when you die and I didn't say that Eureka was the best implementation of that game into this. But people did ask for elements of FFXI brought in to this game and SE brought some of that into Eureka. Was it executed the best way? No, it wasn't. But a lot of what people ask for in FFXI wouldn't translate to FFXIV as they are different games. As an aside, people also have rose-colored glasses for old FFXI. There were some wonderful things about that game and I loved it. But I don't think I would go back to it.

Maybe if the duels weren't hard-gated by insane RNG luck then people wouldn't have gotten so burnt out on the content and more people would be doing it.. I know for me at least I haven't set foot in bozja since the moment I decided the duels weren't worth dealing with the RNG BS over.

What's so awesome about duels that people get all bent up over them? I've figured that they're just another type of critical engagement.

Special titles, achievements, and 99 lockboxes (The equivalent of 50 other Critical engagement's worth). They're also pretty decently challenging, not utterly faceroll solo fights, something the game is incredibly lacking in, so some people enjoy doing them for fun. Which when you combine equal parts of RNG with equal parts frustration at watching people get in that clearly haven't watched a video or even the slightest idea of what they're supposed to do (don't have mandatory lost actions, no essence, etc) leads to many people getting heated about them when the ticket to even try is at a premium.

Okay. Sounds like something that would be fun if I could do it at will. But with all the RNG involved I don't think I'll bother. I'm already somewhat miffed that I can't practice the regular critical engagements. I've done the chocobo one three times and I still don't have a solid strategy for the, um, meteor stream I think. I have some ideas but no good way to test them.

Lost Reflect helps during the circular meteor drops.

I'm something like 80% though rank 9. I just can't do the zone in general without falling asleep after 15mins of being in there. It's easier to stay awake doing HW fates. I've finished 6 weapons already I think...

I just have zero drive. Eureka was fun but by the end of SB I couldn't take it anymore. This is the same thing really. Same crud, different expansion.

You might not die when hit but you will still get a vuln stack which will disqualify you for the duel.
