Final Fantasy 16 has officially been announced as a PlayStation console exclusive.
Edit: And will be available on PC as well
I'm fine with how the combat was shown. I prefere fast paced action.
Looks really fun, I hope they will add a very hard mode, my only gripe with 15 was that it was way too easy.
So that's where all our sub money went!
Meh, their modern ffs suck since 13
Battle system: Looks boring, I don't want to dash and fly in the air like in XV
Everything else: Looks interesting, specially the focus on the Eikons. What ultimately breaks/makes FF is the cast, and so far I'm not seeing anyone that catches my eye in it, looking as generic and samey as FFXV.
Big plus: Towns and places seem to not be in modern day america
That explains why there is no content in XIV, dev team is actually making FFXVI.
So, will people who sub to XIV get XVI for free or for -50%? We already funded the game.
developed by business unit 3, aka the one Yoshida's in charge of, if I saw it correctly.
well, time for some speculation now: I recall an older interview in which Yoshida stated that he'd be willing to pass on one of his 2 positions (can't remember if it was director or producer specifically) to someone else with MMO dev experience. Yosuke Saito (the other guy from the NieR raid) jokingly stated in his video message during last years anniversary stream that he'd love to join the XIV team and take over as producer. Saito and Yoshida have already worked together before on Dragon Quest X.
So, should Yoshida be involved with FF16, then I won't be surprised if Saito fully joins the XIV team and takes over one of Yoshida's positions
Huh, they threw the term's eikon and mothercrystal there, seems XIV actually has been a big influence, if not proof of Yoshida's involvement in the game...
Looking forward to this! Final Fantasy XVI makes me think of Final Fantasy XIV but with Game of Thrones and Lord of the Rings influences.
I can't say I'm extremely excited for the combat though. There's too much Action RPG in the market and I was kind of hoping for a classic Turn-based RPG like Final Fantasy V and Final Fantasy VI based on ATB instead.
I already have my Action RPG fix with Monster Hunter, Dark Souls, and many others currently out in the market. Project Athia is also coming out as an Action RPG too. I was hoping for Final Fantasy returning to its roots.
Either way, I'm still very excited to see more from this game. I expect a lot from Creative Business Unit III.
I actually really appreciated the 13 trilogy!
Much as I love Okabe's work, he's only a music composer, as far as I'm aware. Why would he take over from YoshiP when he has no experience with either position, joking aside? I mean, such a thing wouldn't be unheard of, but you generally want someone with experience.
Ehh, I need to see more honestly, but it doesn't look bad. I do love the throwback logo that they used; reminded me of FFX/FFX-2.
This trailer made me wish this was the April's fool joke ff16 and the latter being the real ff16.
For Yoshida's love of animal races we saw 0 in all of that.

I'm uncontainably excited, that trailer was a high quality Italian pizza fresh out of the oven
I loved the Medieval setting! I don't play FF games except for XIV, but I'm interested in this story. It looks darker than the average FF, somehow.
It's being made by business division 3 the one Yoshida is in charge of. In fact it the art style did look a lot like FF14. I thought it was the FF14 expansion at first when I saw the trailer.
Looks meh.
Past 10, $hit got kind of crazy and strange....in a bad way.
XI was perhaps the last great ff title in the franchise.
The rest were ok at best; just my opinion.
I got the feeling of a teenage d4rk 3dgy trying too hard to show it's Final Fantasy when watching the trailer.
But yeah, happy our FFXIV money did serve to fund a game :D
Looks amazing! Hopefully not as easy and short as XV. Combat looks very fun and the medieval theme is a nice touch.
I am cautiously optimistic about this. Which honestly is the most excited I get about games I did not yet get my hands on these days, with exceptions I can count on one hand.
I am not a fan of the combat system shown in the trailer but if the rest of the game is decent I can tune out my gripes with combat.
Now to hope for a good PC port because I won't be able to buy a PS5 anytime soon.
looks awesome .
Maybe they may do a FFXIV x FFXVI crossover event for 6.xx.

well Yoshi P. is gonna be the producer for it indeed.
They need to decide if they want an action combat system or a party system because they've been trying to have it both ways since FF12 and it's just not something that's ever worked. Combat in 12 was put your controller down and have a sandwich. 13 was tap X over and over again. 15 was hold down X.... 7R wasn't much of an improvement, though the ATB gauge added to the complexity, but still was pretty shallow. Additionally the AI controlled companions (except in 12 where you could meticulously craft their AI) have been really bad.
That being said, I'm happy to see they've decided to go back to the high fantasy roots and bring back the crystals. I'd been getting really tired of the contemporary or science fiction settings. So I'm cautiously optimistic. Will have an even better feeling if I learn that Nomura wasn't involved in this one...
I wonder if this means we will be getting an XVI event.
