My SCH Rework Idea III

been a while since i done this but here is a new Idea for Scholar Rework.
hope you like it.

the pet actions are of 5.0 egi assault,the one ACN and SMN had. just imagine without the cast delay/ghosting effects happening

skills:

lvl 1: ruin.

lvl 2: bio

lvl 4: physick

level 4: summon eos

lvl 10: Pet Assault I (ogcd) - orders your pet to use pet assault. cast:instant cd:30s max charge: 2

eos - Whispering Dawn: Gradually restores the HP of all nearby party members. Cure Potency:80 duration: 15s.

selene - Fey Illusion: selene flies to a target and blind the target and nearby enemies. radius: 5y ,stun: 2s ,blind:7s.

seraph - Angel's Whisper

lvl 12: Resurrection.

lvl 15: summon selene.

lvl 20: Aetherflow - restore 5% MP Additional Effect: Aetherflow II cd:30s
Can only be executed while in combat.

lvl 20: Energy Drain (sch version)

lvl: 26 bio -> bio 2

lvl: 30: bane: spread all your poison effect cast on a target to nearby enemies.cast: instant. cost 1 aetherflow stack. increases fairy gauge by 10.

lvl 30: poison art Mastery(trait): certain skills will inflict a poison art stack on enemies.
Max Stacks: 1.
ruin II - blight: deal 20 potency damage and deal light damage over time. potency 10. duration :15s.
dark - miasma: deal damage over time. potency 20. duration: 30s
ruin/broil/broil II/broil III - burn: deal fire damage over time: potency 20 duration 30s

lvl 30: Poisoning Arts(ogcd) - send an aether signal to a target to activate his poisons. apply a targets poison art stacks effect(only one poison art effect can apply on target otherwise replaced).cast:instant, mp:100

lvl 30: Adloquium.

lvl 35: succor.

lvl 38: ruin II.

lvl 40: Fey Illumination. (both selene and eos can use)

lvl 40: pet assault II (ogcd) - orders your pet to use pet assault. cast:instant cd:30s max charge: 2

eos - fey blessing : Restores the HP of all nearby party members and apply a shield worth 50% of hp healed. cure potency: 100.

selene - Fey Trick:apply minimum on nearby enemies(cannot work on Bosses). duration: 5s

seraph - Consolation.

lvl 45: Lustrate.

lvl 46: dark. Deals unaspected damage with a potency of 100 to all nearby enemies.
apply corrupt soil on the area.(only 1 corrupt soil can be placed, cannot be refreshed on ground that have corrupt soil active.upon casting dark on a ground without corrupt soil places a new one there). cast: instant, cd: 2.5s, radius:5y mp:600
corrupt soil - enemies standing there will receive damage over time. potency:30 duration: 9s radius: 5y.

lvl 50: sacred soil.

lvl 52: Indomitability.

lvl 54: ruin -> broil.

lvl 56: Deployment Mastery (trait)- upon targeting self or allies ,changes bane to deployment tactics. deployment tactics can be cast without Aetherflow cost.

lvl 56: Deployment Tactics: extends Galvanize effect cast on self or target to nearby party members. Duration: Time remaining on original effect. No effect when target is not under the effect of Galvanize. cd: 120s, cast range: 30y, radius: 10s

lvl 58: emergency tactics.

lvl 60: Mutation(OGCD) - Consume a targets poison art stack to convert Bio to a different poison:

bio+ miasma stack = Meltdown deal damage and damage over time. potency 45. damage over time: 60.

bio + blight stack = curse: deal damage over time,upon the end of the effect will deal an extra 20-40 potency damage based on amount of your cast poisons on target including this.(max 3) potency:40

bio + burn stack = Explosion: after 3s target and nearby enemies will receive damage and will deal damage over time to target. potency: 15, damage over time:50.

cd:120s, duration is the same as the converted bio

lvl 62: Excogitation.

lvl 64: broil -> broil II.

lvl 66: chain stratagem.

lvl 70: unlocks fairy gauge.

lvl 70: swap(ogcd):switch between eos and selene. cost: 20 fairy gauge. cast instant

lvl 70: Aetherpact - Orders faerie to execute Fey Union with target party member. Effect ends upon reuse.
Faerie Gauge Cost: 10

eos - Gradually restores HP of party member with which faerie has a Fey Union.Cure Potency: 400

selene - reduces damage taken by enemies that are focused by the party member which fairy has a fey union. damage reduced by 10%

lvl 72: biolysis.

broil II -> broil III.

lvl 74: Recitation

lvl 76: fey field(ogcd): orders the fairy to deploy an aether field.

eos- allies inside the field will have a 10% heal increase.

selene- allies inside the field will have their rate of receiving healing crit increase by 5%

duration: 15s, cost:80 fairy gauge.

lvl 78: Enhanced Sacred Soil(trait)

lvl 80: summon seraph. when seraph is summoned,pet assault and pet assault II stacks resets. fey illuminate becomes seraphic Illumination while seraph is summoned.

selene - reduces damage taken by enemies that are focused by the party member which fairy has a fey union. damage reduced by 10%

Reword this one for me, please.

it means whichever enemy the party member focuses will deal 10% less damage to him.

I think I can see what you are trying to do but it does feel a bit umm, haphazardly put together might be a way to put it. I'd need time to thoroughly go through each thing but here is a brief run down of a few issues I'm seeing.

For starters, I can see where you are going with trying to get SCH to take on a few new things added to SMN, like having "pet assault", might I suggest the name "Fey Assist" instead? But, the issue with that is that the swapping of the pets has never been encouraged, until now. But that only works with SMN because they have the freedom to swap. Even before they were just glamours, players were always encouraged to stick with one faerie, similar to AST sects. Granted they could swap but it wasn't ideal. Also why have a swapping mechanic using the fey gauge when you could just use the summon action, there doesn't appear to be a benefit to doing that.

You might need to adjust the pet potencies, remember at current cap her heals are only about 25% of yours. So if your Physick is 400 potency, having Fey blessing do 100 flat potency, that means the actual potency is around 25, which is really small. Regardless, a shield shouldn't be 50% of a heal, it should be 100% or more.

Why do they have a Mixture command? That sounds like it should be left for Chemist/Salve-Maker.

Why does Bane cost an Aetherflow when spreading DoTs but not when spreading a shield? Also there is only one DoT, so baning it feels odd.

Thanks for removing Dissipation though, lol.

I'll try and look more in depth later for now I must go shopping. Lol

ty for the reply,il try and explain a bit about some of the stuff. the swap mechanic is to allow swapping while moving as well as not disrupt the aetherpack. normal summoning still take a few seconds so swapping mid fight like that will disturb the fight and also break aetherpack so hence the swap option.

how bane work is debatable but the amount of dots is more then 1 dot. u can have 3: bio, one of the poison arts that was activated and one of the mixture.so technically u can spread up to 3 dots.(bane transfer only the dot effects)
i kept deployment taticts as it is just made sure to put bane and deployment tatics at the same spot to save button bloat.

naming semantics aside,sch is a doctor and a practitioner of both white and dark magic and in the lore we search for a cure to a deadly disease so both medicine and poison knowledge are there.
if it bothers that much i could call it overdose.

potencies can always be changed and adjusted so to me its more about the playstyle.

It's not so much that it bothers me, so much as Mix and Compound are skills heavily associated with Chemist/Salve-Maker. Changing it to Overdose or another medical term might be better.

I don't think you should tie any mechanics to focus target, or target for that matter.
You could use it as the party member untargets that mob and then it's wasted.

I also don't really understand all the poison stack stuff. Seems unnecessary.

It would be nice to have eos and selene do different things again though.

As worded it says that the enemies take reduced damage. What you are looking for would be more "Reduces damage taken from enemies..."

Not sure why you’re listing the levels that skills are learnt at - it just disorganises the final list, and with no writeup on why, doesn't really serve a purpose at all.

There’s an awful lot of potency decreases to the Fairy’s skills to cut their cooldowns. I see what you’re going for - weaker heals but more frequent healing.
That would be good, but SCH is already short on efficient weave slots (3 per minute). You seem to be adding more oGCD actions without giving us ways to use them without eating the Ruin2 loss.
The extra 1 Aetherflow per minute per minute would have been nice, but it's increased total weaves from 4 (AF + 3ED) to 6 (2AF + 4ED), and that's not even mentioning the lost weaves from Dissipation going.

The only new instant tools you've provided are:
Dark - 100 + (3 ticks of 30) = 190 Potency
Poisoning Arts - (10 ticks of 20) = 200 Potency
Both worse than Ruin 2

as i said before potencies can change so it less important,its more about the playstyle.
ruin 2 is not ogcd and it still there so i dont understand what u mean by losing it.

also notice that dark is your aoe spell instead of AOW. it isnt single target or meant to replace ruin 2 for mobility and single target damage.

mentioning the levels there is to show the order of learning stuff cause its not just about the final level its also how u get there as well that is important.

the skills withtout descriptions are existing skills that simply weren't modified. u can see them at the job guide at the ff14 site.

would you prefer il divide it by mechanics first and then show the level tree?

Potencies can change - but the listed values are important so that we can gauge how you'd want the class to be played. As it stands, 'poisoning arts' is worse than Ruin2 outside of setting up mutation (a skill gained 30 levels later). And a skill that is literally only used to enhance another can just be part of the other skill.

The 'Ruin2 loss' I was talking about is the 80 potency damage loss you get from needing to weave skills. The fact that SCH and WHM need to constantly give up damage to reach the same healing potential as AST.

What's the point in it existing over Art of War then? It'll be an 'upkeep' buff in fights with 2 targets, instead of AoW's Broil replacer. But at 3+ targets it's back to spammy times. It doesn't even hold Miasma2's usage as close-range-but-better-Ruin2.

While the learning journey is important, you spend more time in endgame content, which is where the skills matter the most. It also aids readability so that people can look at your proposed ideas all together for how the gameplay of the job will change.

And on the topic of your rework changing the gameplay...

It just doesn't. The changes that you've done would barely impact the way that Scholar is played. You've given Selene some cool things for trash packs, but made her absolutely useless in Trials and Raids. The worst part is that Eos will still be used in dungeons over selene. SCH struggles to heal them without the fairy, and if the only healing that Selene can contribute is a 105p embrace, then she's getting binned for Eos.
The aetherflow you've added is nice, but it doesn't make up for the further need to weave that you've added. You haven't even touched exceedingly niche skills like like Deployment Tactics and Emergency Tactics.

sorry to hear u talk like that and that is how u feel but i feel your missing key elements in mechanics and skills and also focuses too much on trial and raids that u ignore the other content people do such as alliance and dungeons or even open map hunting. dont forget you have content that sync you to lower level like roulettes and even ultimates where if a job skills aren't spread right can cause it to struggle severely as you pointed out with sch healing

true sch has trouble healing in dungeons without the fairy but that also because he cant stop mobs and lost pretty important dps tools that help him do those.
while eos is good cause she has healing i feel u missed the effects selene brings in dungeon such as stun which mitigate damage or even stop casting and minimun debuff which is a dps increase.

also it appears your giving some spells unintended meanings such as replacements to other skills when their function differently from one another. like AOW isnt a broil replacer since its designed to be aoe and deals less damage then broil itself and even ruinII or making it usage as close-range-but-better-Ruin2 as its purpose when it wasnt even my intention to make it as ruin II.

even niche skills like deployment tactics and emergency tactics shouldn't be overlooked and its sometimes those niche spells that contribute to your feeling in the fight.

as i said potencies can always change and i might change it after reading a few reviews, but i feel the main purposes of the fairies and the poison stacks mechanic is seen. i will ask again if you having difficulty to understand and follow ,would you prefer if i change the explanation to be by mechanic parts of the kit and then show the level layout of the skills?

Okay, to be fair, FFV's Chemist was originally going to be Scholar. That's why Chemist has what was Scholar's trait to double the effectiveness of potions.

Regarding the op, reading over the proposed changes, this doesn't really change any of Scholar's inherent problems, other than removing the trash that is Dissipation.

Sure, you put some poisons back in, but they don't really add anything interesting. Selene has some uniqueness again, but it's interior to whatever Eos brings. You keep summons at low level which absolutely breaks Scholar in low level content. Scholar still lacks healing potential as they're mostly tied to shields. You didn't even do anything to Fey's Union but give a defense buff with Selene. Fey's Union/the Fairy gauge didn't do anything for SCH's playstyle. From what I'm reading, this just adds even further clunk to a job that's already suffering from very disparaging design ideas.

Since this is face based can we create illusions (dots) that help us fight? Maybe a swarm of faeiries
