Thread was completely deleted.
You don't just delete a thread with over 1800 likes for no reason
We're just not getting them, nor female Hrothgar.
Well, I expect this next expansion to be full of new things beyond the usual MSQ and 2 new jobs.

Why would it be deleted? :o
I haven't read it in about a week so I don't know what recent posts were like, but if a thread gets too argumentative where multiple posts need to be moderated they'll just moderate the entire thing to make it easier than having to weed through each post.
Fun fact: This happened to my LGBT directory post back in early 2.0/beta days. A few weeks in it got spammed by a bunch of hateful comments and people started arguing and it got deleted entirely. I just reposted it a few hours later with an additional note near the top about how it was for the LGBT community and if one didn't like it then one should just ignore it and move on. Barely got any negative comments that time and it still exists today, although it got picked up by another player when I took a break around HW. Discord serves as a modern replacement these days, so it's now just an archival thing.
Bonus fun fact: When I returned from my break I discovered that RL friends played so I joined their FC. Turns out it was one of the FCs that had joined my list and many members had joined because of finding it there. I got a whole bunch of feel-good /tells and /fc messages that they found the FC through the thread and thanking me for it when I casually mentioned it one day in FC chat.
That thread had, at points, completely went off the rails. I'm surprised it lasted even half as long as it did. Tried looking for it but it does indeed appear to be gone. Wonder what the tipping point was.
In the past they would lock a thread if it went off the rails, but it seems they've been deleting them lately.
I wondered why my post count suddenly went down by roughly five hundred posts...
It's not a good sign for the thread to have been deleted outright, though at the same time it did end up devolving into circular arguments due to a lack of fresh information to discuss and work with.
Took em long enough.
Confirmed no male viera, hopefully some big feature replaces it. Good on SE for silently deleting everything, like usual.
THANK GOD IT'S GONE!
So it finally happened, huh.
It lasted way longer than I expected it to do.
Goddammit what??
Just delete the off topic stuff! That thread had a lot of good discussion wtf
(And I was working on an art for it too D': )
I don't think the thread being removed has any bearing on whether they'll add male viera at any point--if the thread got off topic and devolved into arguments, that's probably why it was removed. It doesn't mean that they aren't considering still adding them.
I'm so glad SE decided not to bring male Vieras into this game. Doing so would be such a huge waste of resources.
I was actually disgusted by people's calls to make male Vieras a small bunny boy. Now I don't need to worry about that! Thanks Square!
/sigh
I was afraid that would happen, given how I remember the last few pages going...
On this we agree. It devolved into a lot of circular arguments, name-calling, and outright trolling I assumed it'd end up locked, but deleting it outright instead of deleting the offending posts is too much. Makes me afraid that the gender locks are going to become the next taboo subject Yoshi-P will refuse to talk about alongside butt sliders, instanced housing, and unlocking glamours.
Of course, remember (in general) that if we POLITELY push questions about the inclusion of Female Hrothgar and Male Viera, it'll show there's still interest in the feature whenever SE has the development time for it. And that we'd be ok with however THEY choose to design them. (just... no reverse Au Ra situation, please...)
Also, the Female Hrothgar thread (which has been MUCH more polite) still exists, so at least it's not something against the gender locks IN GENERAL.
Finally. No male Viera for the community to bastardize kthx
Sheesh, already seeing some great fresh takes on male Viera here, some people in this thread are pretty selfish for trying to act like a reasonable request is heresy.
don’t worry goobers i made another thread, go check it out
Really makes you wonder what the tipping point was that caused the deletion.
Attack the devs (early part of the thread) go right ahead the worst is your stuff gets deleted not the thread that housed it briefly
Open homophobia again go right ahead only your stuff will be deleted and associated stuff with the comments, thread remains fine.
Circle arguments are fine as they abide by the rules of being on topic and relevant to ffxiv doesn't matter if same posters they ain't breaking no rules, thread should be fine.
Hostility and trolling, posts get deleted not a thread especially one that size.
All in all it actually does not look good on the moderation team here, it was a big thread, it had the most likes of any thread to ever and probably will ever appear on here, not even female Viera threads got that high, it had some of the worst things but also some really nice things to come into it yet it was there for over a year, new people occasionally popped in to support it as well or leave a message.
Nothing in that thread in the last week was anywhere near as bad as the early parts did with people attacking the devs, the open homophobia(using actual slurs and discrimatory behaviour not a troll who is skirting the line) that a certain poster showed that got me my only ever temp ban from forums because I rightly blew up at them, for the moderators to take action just now is concerning. This is one of the times they need to be clear why such a thing was taken down after so long even if it is just to the OP of the thread.
That's some silly doom and gloom right here. Also the female Hrothgar request thread still exists o:
Thread got deleted for a different reason (dunno what because I already said my piece more than enough times in there). Probably similar reasons to why that one "casualism" or whatever it was called thread was deleted. Either got too off topic, people were flinging insults left and right, etc etc.
Yoshi-P is aware people want the missing genders. He said his piece and won't need to say anything until hints regarding them come along (such as the Hrothgar Queen. I would not be surprised if she were to appear near the end of the Bozja storyline).
I dunno why it was deleted, I do see a lot of people acting like jerks about it tho from all kinds of directions.
What bothers me the most are dismissive attitudes, basically '' I don't care about this so you're wrong for caring about it ''. It's such a narcissistic mentality but also very widespread.
It's the same when people talk about sexualized or non-sexualized options, you always get people going all like '' omfg who gives a shit ''.
Like clearly people do otherwise they wouldn't talk and make threads about it...
And so long as they're not being judgemental jerks and douchey about it or arguing that other people should lose their options then I don't see the problem.
I dunno why people act like self-appointed gatekeepers of what people should and shouldn't care about, if anything it makes them look more pathetic imo.
Someone cares about something and then someone who claims that it doesn't matter and that they don't care come in and argue for hours on end about how it doesn't matter lol, they don't see the irony in that and how it makes them worse?
The second thing that bothers me are attacks on the devs, I see this a lot with that dumb meme people spread around about '' female monsters vs male monsters '' where there's orcs, trolls etc and then just a woman in different colors bellow.
It's like there's no nuance at all they just want to spam memes and never be questioned or actually think about anything and yet they're very insistent on pretending like they're making an actual point.
I mean there is a point.
In some cases....
But it makes no sense with Hrothgar and Viera because they're not even the same race and there is an actual reason and explanation behind why it happened like it happened.
And it wasn't because the devs didn't want female Hrothgar and Male Viera ( I've seen a lot of people who actually think they're the same race because of that meme too ).
Some people just have this lazy mentality that because something might be true in one case it's always true and they use that to attack the developers and act like there's some conspiracy at work.
I just think that there's a lot of people that do genuinely care about it and also a lot of people who are just looking to argue or think that they're making some progressive point when it doesn't even apply to this particular case but they just use it to fish for likes ( and retweets on Twitter ).
When you put them altogether in the same thread it's a recipe for disaster.
It may not necessarily be deleted but simply moved. Threads that garner a big enough support have been moved in the past so the dev team can more easily review them. Obviously, we'll never know for certain. Even if it was deleted, I think they know how much Male Viera are in demand by this point.
In all honesty, it was a long time coming. That thread was real ugly most of the time.
A mod probably was like, "I'm deleting the same arguments over and over..", "SCREW IT" *Deletes thread*. Too much work, and not like they would ever post a warning in the thread, or lock a thread. God forbid.
So, is the new strategy here to create 2 new Male Viera threads and just try to keep them both on the front page in some weird defiant protest for the deletion of a thread that devolved a long time ago?
Like, there are other things to talk about, we dont need 1 or 2 brand new threads to revive a topic that was already addressed by YoshiP, and likely it will probly just turn into the same old arguing and nonsense in time.
If it was moved it was clearly moved to a more private setting. As far as I can tell it is nowhere to be found, and my most recent posts in that thread no longer exist in my profile. I think people made their point and more though so the thread's purpose had been accomplished a few hundred pages in. Time to wait and see what happens now.
It might've started in good faith, yes. But it was the very same people who kept bumping the thread simply to keep it up front.
And pointlessly bumping threads are against the rules, or so I keep hearing.
So in the end, it was the people who supported the thread that eventually made it get deleted.
And yes, I ofc know about troll posts and all that as well. But lets be honest, a lot of those were simply because people were tired of the fanboys bumping the thread all the time.
It's more believable than your doom and gloom reasoning, at least (also again, the female Hrothgar thread with the 1254 likes still exists) and your own sentence can be applied to you as well. For it to be confirmed, the XIV devs/Yoshi-P himself has to say they aren't gonna happen. So far the only thing said about them is what Yoshi-P said a year ago.
The thread was most likely deleted because some people stepped over the line one too many times in that thread recently. That's my theory.
I hadn't been looking at that thread much ever since Hrothgar were announced (all I ever wanted ever since ARR), so I also dunno what happened. Like I'd look in there, say my piece maybe (usually asking for proof of when Yoshi-P/devs ever said/promised X, or saying Viera males should never look like children because that's just weird) and then look elsewhere (either in the forums, or literally elsewhere).
I can only assume that the mods got tired of deleting posts/conversations (I feel that's happened A LOT in that thread because some people got really nasty in their comments) and just resorted to ending the entire thread.
No it's not, you don't back it up with anything.
It's up to Naoki Yoshida to state it, so you cannot say that my reasoning is less valid than yours, specially when you don't provide any evidence to say so.Quote:

Could be, but unlike you I'm not going to tell you that's not the reason why.Quote:

What do i read now when i'm bored :(? The drama there was very enjoyable for me
