Yay! Well we all knew this was coming but for SE to make an official statement about it must mean it's fairly soon. But I think it might be early next year sort of soon. I think they would have given a date if it's this year.
Yesssssss finally!!!!!! I want my personal house :) They did say they will add as many as they can before patch 5.4 am I right? So that should be quite soon. I’m excited!!!!
yyyay they can continue to abuse the system and it will be flooded once again...this solves nothing
More wards for FC-only purchase (and open relocation.) to potentially release plots in other wards, only to be taken by bots or more relocation trolls.
Bully.
Can't wait to log in five minutes after the servers come up to find all the large and medium plots already taken.
Brace yourselves for The Housing (Unreal).
Inb4 someone uses the hot word "bandaid fix"
You people are really difficult to please aren’t you?
Cry out like babies when they are not open
Still so negative when they are going to open
Whats with the simping attitude? fail to see the bigger picture and just disregard all critical thought as "complaining" without even recognizing the issues that will remain consistent if they add 2 wards or 10. These forums are mostly for critisim not for bootlicking toothless soultions
That may be true, voice your concerns but temper your expectations. The community has been voicing their concerns for years regarding housing, and nothing has really changed in terms of the core issue.

Imo this is more of a matter of complaining for the sake of complaining, rather then criticism. Sure it may be valid but being vocal without action at this point is also a toothless solution.
What action do you suggest we take? It's not like we can go to SE HQ and stand outside the door with signs protesting. Aside from unsubbing there is literally nothing we can do but post our thoughts on websites.
As for my personal reasons why I don't unsub despite clearly feeling strongly about some aspects of the housing system, my grievances with the housing system don't automatically make the rest of the game terrible for me. I don't even hate the housing system as a whole. My issues lie with availability and acquisition. I think the content itself (furnishing, workshop, etc) is really good. It's actually because of how good I think it is that I feel it's a shame that a huge amount of players are locked out of experiencing it to its fullest.
And yes I agree that while the news of the new wards is great, it doesn't change the problems with the housing system. We would need a crazy amount of wards added for it to be considered a real fix. The repeated issues we see discussed here won't be going away.
That is the problem, what reason does SE have to invest the time and manpower into figuring out the supply issue. People are just voicing concerns but from a business side if their numbers do not reflect the urgency or importance thr community has for the issue why bother? As they have shown bandaid fixes are good enough to curb the demand issues for a time.
That is the main crux of the issue if it is not a large enough issue to leave over why fix it? Also who knows what would be impacted if they funneled resources into a permanent solution for the housing system. I do wish FFXIV got a larger piece of the pie, from if your cash cow is still bringing in large profits with minimal investment why funnel more money into the project?
As consumers it makes sense, and I juggle this issue daily since I am a project manager. Some features I would love ti add to make pur consumers happy, but if I am not able to justify the cost with larger projections 9 times out of 10 I am told to pass off. Granted I work for a small company, so I cannot imagine how much issue Yoshi P has to go through even if he is on the board.
Cause the only action is one that most people will not take. Unsub in mass droves to show SE that housing is an important issue and needs to be addressed. I did not bring it up because as you said it is not s large enough issue to unsub. So looking at it from SE why bother to fix it, if it is not causing any noticeable bscklash?
If I was in their shoes I would also ignore it.
Well no the Shirogane launch pushed SE to take decisive action because it was a disaster. People didn't unsub in droves. They made their voices heard in the exact manner that we're doing right now. The majority of these people rarely posted in the forums, which may be why the enormous backlash took SE by surprise. Perhaps even they were unaware that although only a minority post here regularly this does not mean their opinions are also that of a minority.
People have been making their voices heard over housing since I have been started back in HW. If one chooses to voice their concerns cool, but the sad harsh reality this is a purr suck it up buttercup issue prob in the eyes if SE. The changes to Shirogane were also prob low effort changes in terms of manpower and cost. Making progressive adding wards after one has filled up prob not that easy to do in terms if game engine, instances housing is probably also costly, and they have mentioned they are working on resizing apartments i believe but that also is not an easy task.
We can complain until we are blue in the face, but I do not see much reason for change.
Well that is your opinion and you're entitled to it.
Anyway we're making the thread go very off-topic. Lets bring it back.
Really glad that more wards are coming. I look forward to seeing people happy about getting their houses. I know it won't solve any of the real issues but at least more people than before will have a house.
I hate to say it, but unsubscribing won't really help.
They don't have any sort of unsubscribe survey to know WHY you're unsubscribing. So they can't tell if it's a cost issue, if you're don't have enough time to play, if you're just bored of the game... or if you're annoyed with housing.
I am glad they are adding more wards been leveling an alt account and wish to get a plot. Though that is kind of the point I was trying to make if bandaid fox is enough then why bother with anything else. That is what I mean when I housing concerns largely boil down to complaining for the sake of complaining. When it comes to trying to get enough plots for everyone. What reason does SE have to put money into fixing it if people ar4 okay with the bandaid fixes.
Can't wait to not get a medium or large again despite already owning a small because everything will be sold out by the time I log in. Gotta love FFXIV housing!
Join an FC that will give you access to their gardens. If your current FC doesn't let you garden and you want to garden, join one that will let you do it. Unless you are unwilling to settle for gardening on a plot you do not own. But that doesn't mean you do not have access to gardening. There are tons of FC's who don't use their gardens, I'm sure one of them will gladly let you use their plot in exchange for a little bit of whatever you grow on an alt char joined to their FC. There are ways, you have chosen to throw tantrums instead.
A good step in the right direction. Nothing short of a housing expansion ( I can see it now!: Final Fantasy 14, the Homewards expansion, 2021) would fix the housing issues, but it sure makes me happier to see more wards.
But are you certain you're going to be gardening? Most of my friends who bought a house partially because they wanted garden access didn't end up gardening. The most they do is occasionally grow shards or chocobo color fruit. Otherwise their gardens remain empty because they decided gardening was too much of a commitment (need to log on almost daily so expensive seeds don't fail).
Being a tenant is an option. Ask a friend who isn't using their garden to add you as tenant. Maybe as a bonus they've done an indifferent job of decorating and will let you decorate their house as well. I've had friends add me as tenant specifically so I can decorate for them and they reimbursed me for the cost of furnishings.
And yeah, there is plenty of space for furniture in an apartment (unless you want the huge pieces like the Knights Round Table). There are some really wonderful apartments out there if you're willing to take the time to look around.
What there isn't room for is a massive wall of knick knacks but then houses don't have room for those either unless you're going to partition off part of the house and leave it empty. I get a lot of use out of my apartments and FC rooms when it comes to decorating and redecorating, probably even more than I get from my house. One of my apartments is even modeled after real life tiny houses, with a "picture window" looking out onto a lush garden.
Try giving apartments a decent chance before you turn your nose up at them? if you can't turn an apartment into a "livable space", you're not going to do any better with a house. If nothing else, the apartment gives you a place to practice with interior design while waiting to buy a house, and flowerpots will let you grow seeds (just not crossbreed).
It's great you follow the twitter account for updates and previews and other events.
But they actually announced it here too. https://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/threads/423325
I think healthy constructive criticism is fine but going on insult spree isn't gonna help your case, rather make you look pretty stupid.
I also don't think it helps by crying bots are claiming all plots when that is false. I don't neglect we have a bot problem in the housing scene but there is plenty of houses that being bought "legit" in-game or relocation. Obviously I can only compared to my server and data center.
