If they decide to give TBN to all the other tanks, can the Warrior version be called "The Thiccest Boy?"

Also GNB buff, sure first you take all CD's and shove it in him with his Dots aswell and PLD only has 2 CD's left now, he used to have like 8.

That is a trend i hate here, they keep takign abilitys away with a new class and shove it in the new one.

These WAR adjustments were requested since the start of this expansion here on the forums, in other social media, and within the games. These requests are basic and were mostly uniformly agreed upon.

If you want changes to DRK: those changes need to be basic/simple changes and uniformly agreed upon.

Go back and look at the threads within these forums alone. How many simple, requests were there and how many of those simple requests were widely approved upon? How about next to none.

Most DRK change requests and ideas within these forums were full revamps or major code change requests. It's obvious SE right now isn't going for full code changes. They will do simple changes. Changing a variable from 15 to 30 and 30 to 60 isn't difficult. Setting NF's target requirement to "FALSE" isn't difficult either.

Of course, the community beyond the three or four same people who post on these forums requesting DRK changes and pining for StB/HW need to get on board. To me, it seems like the community "forgot" about DRK and not SE.

a change i wanted back in SB for DRK was to reorder the level you gain blood gauge spending skills.
took a whole expansion to even get that.

problem was WAR's flaws were simple and intuitive. DRK was, and still is, suffering from an identity crisis.
The changes to WAR in 5.3 are well welcome, and not to rag on the OP, but DRK just is a mess and needs a focus first that isn't just "imagine WAR but MP and darkness."

This is just what real QOL looks like. Small changes that won't affect balance, just how the jobs plays. It's not surprising that the least played tank is the one that gets them, either.

He right to complain about drk, worst dps, worst invul, worst self healing...
you know, im play since ARR(never break), I have down alexander ultimate, and i really found tank balance is garbage, and its the first time I want to stop this joke balance game.
I'm very happy for war, he deserve what they give, but, drk need too.

Exactly these are QoL improvements which SE listened to the playerbase, Storms Eye being annoying to upkeep and Nascent not needing a target, thank you SE for listening to input.

DRK has always been the lowest priority job for SE so thats not new, im personally not surprised for the lack of ajustments.

WAR was already equaly/superior to DRK dps since the start of the expansion, this changes will just put it 100% ahead of DRK and make it really close to PLD if not equal, and many jobs recived in the past Gameplay changes despite still being balanced just bcs are requested for make the experience more fun, idk why this should be a exception for DRK, but we all know DRK is not allowed to get mid expansion changes like the rest.

Personally this is why I was turned off to warrior. It felt very tight to finish an optimal rotation, but it is doable. The extra time for storms eye is a nice deep breath, and allows me to focus more on storms path for more cleaves. This is a damage increase imo, and a good one for war as I do like the class. Just didn't feel right to play, and also the non-requirements for NF. Which I think we all knew was kind of stupidly designed. Just took awhile for others to except it I think. Now that I can test incoming healing on a target dummy this is good information to know when working on DPS rotations, while also allowing me to use it more in line with infuriates and cleaves more often. NF will be important more so in single target tanking, then being highly important in AOE burst self heals. This makes warrior perfect IMO, combat flow will be very smooth and the normal warrior heavy metalness.

Yes but there isn't a unified "here's how." There's several ideas, and all of them have their merits, but that's the problem.

I wanted to mean Gameplay changes to improve the experience of the job, kinda like how SAM get changed to use Shoha or other skills/mechanics get revamped to improve the job, yeah buffs and number tweaks like everyone, but gameplay stuff? never, only sole survivor and no more and was really minor.

It has been a while since I last checked.
IF I now look on Shiva kills/ ranking then I see that WAR is by far the most unpopular class.
The median dmg is close to DRK but he still the lowest.

This unpopularity has to come from somewhere and is eventually fixed with this patch.

Gameplay mostly, WAR dps output is fine, his defensive kit is still of the best and his utility remains one of the best in terms of optimization and such, WAR unpopularity came mostly from the lack of additions with the expansion and a infinite storm of complains about nascent flash wich is "fixed" now, onslaught and how unpleasant was to run a dungeon and keep storm eye, well see who all this QoL end raising his popularity but we have to keep in mind DRK becoming WAR but with a sword and edginess have something to do with his pick rate too considering the marketing and the expansion theme.

I'm just glad that SE now works like DRK shadows where you get 30 secs up to a max of 60. We've been stuck at 30 secs since 2.0 and was only recently changed now but before the dps increase among the tanks was enough to warrant the uptime. In ShB not so much so the change was needed. Idc about the dmg tbh since it's so minuscule between the tanks but this may result in an indirect buff since FC is now slightly faster to obtain, via SP, and you will be healing slightly more. Very slightly though. Best change is the Nascent Flash. The job can finally feel smooth again when it comes to the self heals department. Glad to see that Yoshi is listening to some extent. Now we just need OT stances back in 6.0.

"I said this back in March and I was crucified for thinking NF was a meh ability.

I still think this today, and still feel that the devs should come up with something better that is more inline with the other tank classes that don't rely on another class to use. I mean PLD can even heal themselves to proc Divine Veil if the healer isn't healing them.

Warrior is still a "cool" class to play and will probably always be a cool class to play. It's hard hitting and gratifying to see huge numbers pop up. But the job needs to have some synergy added to make it "less of a chore" to play.
PLD is perfect combat flow
DRK is perfect combat flow (best in my opinion)
GNB is perfect combat flow
WAR needs work on it's burst phase as I find it very "stars align" you get good DPS feel. Same with NF as it's usable only when it's right, and in this case large AOE packs. I hardly ever use it on bosses or 8 man raids. I usually use raw intuition for damage reduction. Apart from using as OT ability...it's still just MEH.

And let's be honest with NF is only good with Inner Release. Other then that it's strong with if you pop Infuriate for Inner Chaos. Might get 18-24k heals.

Might as well bring back Bloodbath as a warrior only skill and remove it from all the DPS roles. Shake it Off is the only raid utility that is one of the warriors strongest. Raid wide damage reduction...AND it applies to the warrior also. Great skill.

"First off I would like to explain I enjoy 80 warrior. I like it's sustainability. I like it's heavy hitting play style. I actually enjoy it's simple rotation.

But the one thing that I can't wrap my head around is Nascent Flash. The more that I use it the more I want bloodbath back. Bloodbath is a superior skill compared to how Nascent Flash works with another party member. Bloodbath lasts longer and is easier to use (PS4 player). With that being said I don't understand SE's idea being giving warrior an inferior skill that relies on another party member to work. You can't even use it soloing to boot.

Now I understand the idea behind nascent flash in sustainability don't get me wrong there. But for boss fights it feels useless compared to what Raw Intuition offers with such a short cooldown."

By useless I meant not lining up with burst windows when I needed it (infuriate or Inner release), and I would save it for those. Mitigation > self heal seemed more useful (why i got flamed)

Honestly I have never been more excited to play WAR now. This means I open with
Tomahawk, Storms Eye combo, infuriate, inner chaos, infuriate, inner chaos, Inner release (reset Storms eye timer) x5 fell cleave, Path, Path, Fell Cleave, Infuriate, Inner Chaos, Path, Patch, Fell Cleave, Storms Eye, so on and so on....THIS makes more sense and I love the less focus on upkeep for storms eye.

This helps with sustainability with more focus on Path and Beast Gauge gains. I am REALLY excited to finally get into WAR, since this is were I think SE wanted the class since back in ARR. It's Flashy!, Heavy Hitting!, Raw Beast Mode!, Death Metal Tank!, and I love it!

I honestly don't really have an issue with the WAR changes to the upkeep of Storm's Eye since there have been legitimate complaints regarding it's upkeep for a while now. As for the idea of making it this much easier resulting in the buff upkeep becoming "braindead" similar to DRK's Darkside, I'm not sure I fully agree with that since it just results in you having to use Storm's Path less frequently whereas Edge/Flood are used consistently on DRK regardless. I mean I get that having to use Storm's Path less and having to pay less attention to the buff is simplifying an aspect of the job, that I agree with. Curious though how much of a potential dps buff not having to use Storm's Path as much could provide over an encounter.

So now for an unpopular opinion. I don't like the change to Nascent Flash because I've always felt that NF is supposed to be the support ability equivalent of TBN, HoS and Intervention. The self-heal from NF has always been too powerful imo and turned a support ability into primarily a really strong self-sustain ability instead. It seems like the devs and many of the players can't get beyond WAR's past where it's tankiness came from being a huge HP sponge with lots of self-sustain to compensate for a lack of direct defensive abilities. They changed the HP sponge approach for good reason and gave WAR direct defensive abilities yet kept the huge amount of self-heals in one form or another for some reason in the subsequent iterations. I personally would have preferred if they had reigned in the self-heal from the ability to emphasize it as a support ability but now they have removed the target requirement instead signaling that they are fine with it not being mainly a support ability and again doubled down on "WAR gets huge self-heals because ...".

With the GNB changes, I'm not yet sure what I think. While on paper it looks like a very small boost, it is actually a regularly occurring 100 potency boost to HP, 50 pot from the heal and 50 pot from the shield. That extra potency should help GNB feel a bit more sturdy which is nice and I would argue warranted, but then that sort of throws off the argument that I have seen justifying GNB's higher dps with it being balanced out by being less sturdy. So curious to see how this change actually falls out.

It is unlikely to affect the warrior's dps ceiling significantly. At most the gain is going to be 10 more Beast gauge every 3 minutes. The gain is going to be more on the dps floor as lower skilled players won't be clipping the buff as much and won't be dropping the buff during IR as much.

While I do agree with this to some aspect and the heal tank didn't work back then, but it most certainly works now. If I may...

Clemancy - pure DPS lost, but a STUPID nigh insane SELFISH cure. Can be used on other party members. With req. buff I have healed healers in trouble for 70k crits.....damn! No req. buff...40-50k heal
Aurora - Decent self heal to an already strong cooldown rotation that you really can have a constant cooldown on GNB at all times....Can be cast on other members with no issue. Great OT utility
Abyssal Drain - maybe one of the weakest self heal abilities in a 1v1 aspect. But in AOE, HOLY MOLY is it strong as hell. I personally couple this with large pulls. Living Dead with Abyssal Drain is actually OP as hell, and highly rewarding. TBN....stop crying you have the best mitigation tool in the game....literally the best...ever...for all time!

Each cast of Clemency drops a Paladin's dps by a significant amount. They might be able to toss out 1800 to 2520 potency heals during their burst window, but this comes at a cost of 525+ dps every cast.
Aurora on a 60s cooldown with a total potency of 1200. Aurora and Equilibrium have the exact same healing potential.
Abyssal Drain is equal to Equalibrum and Aurora as a heal when you have 6 targets but severely weakens as a heal with fewer.

Nascent Flash combined with Inner Chaos is a 1610 potency self-heal every 20s. No other tank can keep up without losing a lot of dps..

Closest is gunblade through aurora and I think the heal from brutal shell is a natural part of their rotation.
I haven't leveled GNB just yet though I admit

GNB is a little squishy. They needed an adjustment.

WAR used to be top dog before PLD, they needed a little boost.

DRK is in an okay place, still have TBN.

Just be patient. DRK can hold their own.

What WAR is now is not a "heal tank", it's a tank with all the standard defensive abilities that all the other tanks have plus an extra helping of self-heals. If WAR were a "heal tank" their method of mitigation would be in self-heals. It's the difference between large self-heals in exchange for direct mitigation as opposed to large self-heals in addition to direct mitigation, and that is an important distinction.

The self-heal potential between the tanks is not even remotely equal and you are both cherry-picking as well as blatantly misrepresenting things.

PLD has a 1200 potency cure in Clemency which they can spam as long as they have MP and they can boost it to ridiculous levels with Requiescat, however to do that they basically have to completely neuter their ability to do damage. So PLD's ability to burst heal, themselves or others, in a pinch is bar-none the best of all the tanks but comes at a great cost and will rarely if ever be used in regular play.

GNB has Aurora which is 1200 pot of healing as a regen over 18s (200 potency cure per tick over 6 ticks). Decent self-heal but it being spread out over 18s doesn't help when you need burst healing. Being able to cast it on a party member is nice and helps bolster their support ability since I feel that HoS is a bit weak in comparison to the other tank single-target support abilities.

DRK has Abyssal Drain which is a 200 potency per target hit cure. In single-target that heal is abysmal (*ba-dum-dum-tish*) in comparison to the other tank equivalents and is only partially made up for by Soul Eater having a decent sized cure attached to it, however that makes the self-healing really spread out which doesn't help when you need burst healing and so tends not to really result in that many fewer heals being cast on the DRK.
In AoE it can be quite powerful but not anywhere near where you are making it out to be. To reach the 1200 potency equivalent of the other tank 60s self-heals you would need to be hitting 6 enemies. Most really large pulls tend to hover around 8 or 9 enemies, so in those instances you are getting maybe 400 to 600 potency more of heals assuming none of them have been killed off before you need and use AD and that you manage to hit all of them which often doesn't happen due to enemies spreading out a bit when pausing to cast telegraphed abilities while you are trying to group them up tight.
So under the right conditions and only in mass dungeon pulls, Abyssal Drain can be more powerful, yet in all other instances it is way weaker.

WAR has Equilibrium which is a 1200 potency cure for themselves which doesn't result in any dps lost like Clemency, is an all at once burst unlike Aurora and isn't dependent on there being at least 6 enemies present like Abyssal Drain. Of all the tank self-heals it is by far the most consistently reliable. This is the relative "equivalency" to look at, although it is clear that some of those heals are not quite as good as others in harder and non-dungeon content.
Trying to equate Nascent Flash to these other heals makes little to no sense whatsoever.

Nascent Flash is best compared against it's actual "equivalents".

As a support ability, I'd say what it provides to the support target is fairly equitable since it can potentially provide/save a lot of HP for the target from the heal and it also has a bit of direct mitigation too. So no problem looking at that aspect.

The problem is the self-heal aspect of the ability. In mass pull situations, the potential healing from NF absolutely trounces any other short defensive in regards to the amount of HP saved. In single-target the HP it restores can often outpace the damage the other tank's short recast defensives prevent with the caveat that it won't save you if taking a hit that would kill you outright, but for that there is Raw Intuition. So for any buster that is a real threat, use RI, which prevents just as much damage as TBN when taking damage equating to 125% of your max HP, and for when you are not taking such a severe spike of damage use NF. You are covered for all situations and then some.

Now let's look at TBN in comparison. Yes it is absolutely a very powerful defensive ability, however because of the resource/dps loss when it is not consumed, it can only be used during periods when you are taking enough damage to guarantee that it breaks. That makes it best to use when dealing with spikes of damage. During most lulls of damage between spikes you have to just sit and hold it, waiting for the next spike resulting in potentially not getting as many usages out of the ability as the other tank short recast defensives. In other words, it may potentially defend from more damage when used but it may potentially not be able to be used as much. There are even instances in some content, like some dungeon bosses or soloing old group content, where it may not be able to break ever and so is not even used. This alone makes the claim of it being "literally the best ever for all time" somewhat dubious and that's not even taking into account the rest of DRK's defensive kit or the defensive kits of the other tanks as comparisons.

I agree the dps increase is likely to be fairly negligible and that WAR and DRK needed to be brought up a smidge in regards to dps, so I have no problem with that.
I still think that WAR could use a little more in regards to job mechanic complexity to break up the rotational monotony. There is the trade off for slightly more Fell Cleaves in exchange for less Storm's Path, but is that enough? I'm leaning towards probably not.

While I agree that WAR needed a little boost in a few areas, of which dps was one of them. However WAR being "top dog" before should never be justification for why the job should be buffed. That sort of logic just ends up leading to the mentality of "WAR should always be top dog because you can't take that away from them".

Aurora is a HoT version of Equilibrium. Brutal Shell (200 heal/200 shield) parallels the self-heal on Storm's Path (250 heal) and Souleater (300 heal). NF give the Warrior an insane amount of free self-healing.

At least with the healer mains, we compiled a post providing a summary of the healer issues. We just need SE to actually listen to us for a change, which may be unlikely given the circumstance. With DRK mains, they've been going back and forth for the past year. People keep going on and on about what the job should be, what can we do about it's self-healing capabilities and Living Dead reworks. Yet DRKs mains never provided a unified message. I know the job isn't as great as it once was, but at least work with what you have first. Then once you get Yoshi-P and SE's attention, which is hard to do, build from there.

WAR is now a one combo job between IR bursts. Not exactly what I would have expected people here to demand for, but if it finally renders you capable of playing the job at a basic level, all the more power to you.

To be fair, WAR has been the worst Tank the entire expansion, no suprise they would buff it... just flabbergasted it took this long. Did it save the job? Not really as all Tanks are kinda just in a bad gameplay spot, but it basically probably propped up WAR into the realm of PLD/GNB now. DRK... got screwed and left to rot, but I guess that's what they think of a copycat job.
That being said... these changes will quickly go to show just how badly designed WAR is. Think about the gameplay loop they are pushing for, after opener sit there and just spam 1 combo and fell cleave on cooldown until you might need to Storm's Path.
WAR might do more damage in the end but... is it worth a worse playing job now?
To me, no, its not a worthwhile change to get me back into playing WAR. GNB change? Eh, slightly helps I guess.
