Suggestions and Improvements To the Game From a new player

I have recently joined this game because a friend asked me to join it and after playing it for a bit I have managed to make a few friends and I questioned them about a few things they would like to see changed or happen in FFXIV. After gathering all these ideas together, I have decided to come here and share them so I can find out what you all think about them.

Class Changes

Healers

White Mage - a lot of players feel frustrated with them because of one ability. One ability which has been around since the beginning. One ability that has been changed and altered and made almost unusable. I am pretty sure you know what ability I am talking about.

Fluid Aura

Here are a few suggestions that my friends thought would make it more useful:
Take away the bind. Make it do at least 220 or 300 potency and after 6-10 seconds detonate a heal that heals all nearby party members equivalent to Cure 3 range which will mostly hit the melee dps and tanks. The other one was making it to where it has a good cooldown and it makes the target monster take 3-6% more damage from all sources if it crits which stacks with Astrologian's cards.

Melee DPS

For all DPS but mostly the Samurai, as you play you will find yourself having to dodge or take damage that would otherwise kill you if you do not move out of the targeting box, however, ranged DPS seem to have an advantage in this and their numbers will always be higher because of the mechanics currently in the game.

Ranged DPS

There is an influx of unfairness comparing ranged DPS. Some don't do hardly any damage, while others spike up to unbelievable levels. Of course, this also means we are talking about raids, not dungeons or normal content. There is a massive difference in damage compared to a black mage to a bard and even as a bard at the moment people will always choose dancer over bard because the bard does not have what people want or need in certain situations. I understand black mages are meant to do lots of damage but the other classes who dedicate their time and effort deserve to be rewarded too and not feel defeated because another job has been made to outdo them in every possible way. Now saying this, I understand that ranged DPS can attack and move at the same time whereas black mages have to stand still but the big problem with ranged DPS at the moment is that their role skills are not very good in my friends' opinions and mostly used in PvE, PVP which they seem more suited to.

Tanks

I can go on and on about how powerful Paladins have become when a tank is so powerful in tanking and DPS that they don't need a healer or single party member to solo a boss in a dungeon equivalent to their own level. I think this needs to be addressed. I understand giving Paladins giving more DPS tools was a good idea but giving them too much is a bad idea. They also feel that Warriors and Dark Knights need a little bit more love. They do a lot of damage but when it comes to Savage Content they can't tank it. Surely not like a Paladin or Gunbreaker can do as well as having taking stats that don't seem to make sense other than for fillers. Similar to healers and piety which isn't bad per se it just isn't a priority.

Actual things they would like to see in the game with regards to quality of life changes
First Chocobo carriers should be removed or changed to Chocobo quests player can do to help level up their feisty Chocobo somewhat like Leves which you can only do daily but with the Chocobo music playing. Of course, we don't want to make Chocobo stables unusable so perhaps using some things for the stables for FC houses to compensate for their changes such as more and different types of food you can feed your Chocobo for abilities. Also, revisiting the Chocobo levelling system when you max all your levels to 10 will give you a skill tree you can level up by feeding them rare fruits the seeds of which come from rare boss fates.

Perhaps the chat system could be updated a little and a little love. As an RPer, the ability to mistell is easy to do and this gets people in trouble with others because you have said it in the wrong channel. There should be measures taken to update the chatbox window which stops people accidentally doing this.

I love this game, do not get me wrong, but there are a few things which I hope they will change.

You can go back and edit your posts to circumvent the extremely low character limit.

Regarding your suggestions, I won't go too in-depth on them but I feel the need to point out the most obvious thing with DPS. Melee dps generally deal higher damage than ranged to compensate for the fact that they have to move more often. And of the melee dps, SAM probably suffer the least because they don't have positionals to worry about and have tools that help them disengage and reengage fairly easily. BLM deals considerably more damage than most of the other ranged dps jobs because it is a "pure" dps job, i.e. it only deals damage and does not bring any support functionality to the group (for example, BRDs give buffs or RDMs can raise or heal in a pinch, etc). While tuning might need to be adjusted here and there, pure dps jobs should always have the potential for higher numbers than support jobs or there is no point in bringing them.

And I specifically say "potential" because I'm always a big proponent of bringing the player, not the job. An excellent RDM should always out dps a terrible BLM.

If we're going to nitpick, I feel the need to point out that including everything I said in your quote and saying it's 100% false would imply that everything I said was false... which it isn't. At the very least, I'm certain that going back and editing posts will get you around the character limit, lol.

But as far as SAM goes, you are technically correct. SAM has two positionals which, unlike the other melee jobs, don't effect potency, just kenki generation which does tie into dps, but is still more forgiving than other melee dps jobs. Forgive me for glossing over it, but I did say I didn't want to go too indepth.

Saying SAM doesn't have positionals is like saying NIN doesn't.

5 missed positionals is 320 potency lost. 10 could be considered 1200 potency, depending. Minimum 640. That's quite a bit.

NIN actually loses LESS potency by missing positionals than SAM does. 5 missed is 300 potency. Actually, looking at MNK as well, SAM loses more, and same with DRG. MNK and DRG both add up to 300 potency lost if you factor in 5 full missed GCD combos.

And clearly people can infer from the remaining bit of my statement that I was specifically talking about your comment on SAM and not the entirety.

This is wrong.

The MT in my static is a Warrior and they have no issues handling the damage, so I'm honestly not sure what you're talking about? Also a good SAM will always out DPS a good ranged player. If the SAM is being out DPS'd they aren't good at their job as their ENTIRE job is just to be a one man sword-nuke. SMN and BLM can beat them on rDPS, but for aDPS SAM wins. The only ranged that comes close is MCH but, again, a good SAM will always beat a good MCH in terms of raw damage.

Which is funny because the only reason why people bring physical ranged(MCH, BRD and DNC) is because of a 1% buff.
You as a melee job, has an attack range. You don't have to stick to the boss to do dps.
You can just stand at max melee range and do damage.

Melees and Casters actually outdps Ranged Physical by a lot in the current Savage tier, which is the content the dev balances around.
The role itself just has a higher skill floor than Ranged Physical due to how much you have to learn to be efficient, which is fine.
The game shouldn't balance itself around lower level play.

Again, the dev team only balances around Savage content. They should not care about unsynced duty runs.
And repeat after me: ALL TANKS CAN CLEAR ALL CONTENT

If a player can't clear content at this point in the tier, with proper gear, then the problem is the player not the job.

Potency on MNK has far more value due to it's damage modifiers being nearly 4 times that of the other melee. You're also severely underestimating the potency value on Bootshine. There is inherent potency value on the guaranteed crit interacting with monks Deep Meditation trait.

Comparing Potency between jobs while ignoring job specific modifiers is disingenuous. Landing positionals is important to all Melee, but SAM does not lose more than MNK for not doing them.

Suggestion for a New Player: don't try to give job feedback when you haven't even gotten a single job anywhere close to endgame and clearly have zero clue what you're talking about.

Lmao, this is pretty much the literal opposite of reality.

Seriously though, play the game and actually learn how it works, before you try to help "fixing" things that aren't even an existing issue. Running some leveling dungeons as a single job, isn't even remotely enough experience to make informed opinions on game's balance and endgame content. Neither is asking your friends about things, as there's a shitton of people playing this game for years who don't know how things actually work, because they just don't do research or even raid, not to mention actual theorycrafting(nothing wrong with playing the game casually like that btw, but such people just shouldn't be speaking about balance, if they can't be bothered to learn about it).
If that's what you've heard from your friends in regards to tank jobs, then you should probably be cautious taking any gameplay advice from them in the future, because they're clearly not a reliable source of information.

SE does not give any attention for player feedback, they have a fixed game format (same at every expansion) I think they will never change it.
IMO FFXIV mediocre mmorpg pass some free time. Its safe to delete it after done with it and check back at next expansion if you wish to play.

i dont get it? so... whats wrong with it?

ranged dps will always lower than melee dps because like you said, they can move freely and in situation where melee need to "bail out" from aoe, ranged still can dish out damage.

thats their advantages yes but their dps will almost always lower than melee dps no matter how hard they try (well unless the melee is sleeping or just doing 1-2-3 combo and nothing else yeah)

if ranged class can dish more dps than melee AND can move freely AND have raid wide support ability, iam so going to change to that class lol

I'm pretty sure DRK is the tankiest tank in any 70+ content just due to The Blackest Night alone. As soon as I got that it was like night and day in terms of survivability. I instantly became my own personal shielding Scholar for every single tank buster.

Pardon me? Tanks in ShB are the most balanced role, they can tank everything and everywhere if you know how to play your job. Doesn't mean there is nothing to improve, but survability is the not the issue we currently have.

I generally hope u take all this with a grain of slat, FF players are passionate people and being so new and inexperienced usually bring some inconsistencies within ur ever-evolving scope of the game

My first thought was why no one asked how can a relativily new person speak on things that they haven't done.

Saying war and drk can't tank savage content while not having a tank class leveled...the wonders never cease :D

if someone is going to bring up Fluid Aura as a source of frustration for WHMs but doesn't bother mentioning the removal of the removal of Aero III, I know there's some trolling going on here. Whether it's the OP doing it or the OP getting trolled by the "friends", I don't know.

I'll grant you that these are not used very often, but they are used. There is a point early in HW where you'll probably want to use one. Rather than removing them completely, I'd much prefer to see the places they can take you expanded, so they're more useful.

We have this already. There are foods to increase your choco's xp gain, increase healing and increase dps. These can be bought off the MB or grown in any garden if you have access to one. Feeding any of these foods to the choco 10 times in the stable makes it his favourite food and that will increase the benefit when you use the food in the field (choco can only have one favourite).

And we have this too. Max level is actually 20 and you get there by feeding the choco a Thavnairian Onion each time it reaches a new level after level 10. You can get 2 onions via sidequests and you can buy them off the MB or grow them in a garden. Growing is very involved and will take some time, though.
The skill tree is there as well and you should have been choosing skills for your choco already (assuming it isn't still level 1). You can choose to concentrate on healer, dps or tank (choco tanking isn't great though). When your choco reaches level 20 it will have all the skills from all 3 branches. You get a barding set every time you max out a branch so by the end you'll have 3 sets (these are auto unlocks, each set just appears on the barding list).

Mistells are part of MMO life I think, and I've made quite a few blunders in my time. However, if you r.click the person you want to send a tell to so their name appears in the text box and then press enter before writing anything, this will open up a private channel for you where everything you say will automatically go to that person until you select a new channel.
