I saw some peeps saying that the x.x5 patches have usually been like 4-6 weeks after the first patch, but we also just had 5.21, so maybe it's a couple of weeks further out than that? Those are just some semi-educated guesses though.
They've got a history of coming out on the same day you can upgrade the tomestone weapons from running the normal raids for 7 weeks. So the 31st? No official word though.
You can use the patch history to get an estimate.

The earliest we can expect 5.25 is March 24th which will be week 6 of 5.2X. March 31th and April 7th are also possible days.
my guess is mid April
Well I'm looking forward to the new patch,
I really want to do the Relic Weapons quests. I just hope they don't do anything stupid like make the farthest attainable Damage for the weapon less than or equal to the Crysterium Weapon.
If you really want a Crysterium weapon all you have to do is get 1000 seals and do the 8th Eden Raid 4 times and you've got the weapon.
The Relic weapons are a MAJOR pain in the rear and time consumer and significant effort way over and above 4 level 8 Eden Raids. They should be one step above Crysterium when you finish them at the end of the patch.
Uhm... Cystarium Weapon like all Tomestone weapons post 3.2 have taken 7 weeks at release of normal mode clears to buy the weapon token and only after the next patch was released were the number of normal mode tokens required to buy the weapon token reduced to 4. So for the new Relics to be worth i490 they need to take roughly 7 weeks of work (later to be nerfed to about 4 weeks of work)
From what they have said getting the base Relic Weapon will not take very long so I could see a return to something similar to ARR's i80 relic quest giving an i480 weapon and a second longer step giving an i490 weapon.
Going off what the Anemos Relics were, they ones will likely be i485—which puts them directly comparable to Ruby Weapons. Maybe they'll let us go to i490 but they will not be superior to an upgraded Tome weapon as that basically invalidates those weapons before non-Savage players even have a chance to upgrade them. Furthermore, Anemos Relics were extremely easy to farm. But yeah, it's all but guaranteed they will be weaker than the Crysterium weapons.
Ideally they should be between the current tome and upgraded tome weapons.
Given that resources for testing, bug fixing and general support is somewhat decimated I'd suspect that release plans are out of the window unless it was polished and ready to go.
They'll most likely be i485 though the base will probably be around i470 have 3 upgrade phases most likely at launch to go from i470 to i475 > i480 & finally i485, i485 is most likely to be Relics cap since Tome weapons will be be stuck at i490 until Nier part 2 since you'll need a coin from the first raid & second one to buy the upgrade materials for non-savage players.
Relic is basically a Glam for your main Job until the end of the expansion when they become BiS.
No, 495 is too high to come out so quickly, when the highest (505) is going to last until 5.4 (October roughly). Relic weapons have always been below, so I guess they will be around 485 now, and perhaps up to 500 by 5.35. And then they can be "BiS" by 5.55
Relic is just filler content, it's not really meant to be competitive with Savage Raid weapons, or even tome weapons when they come out.
Just in time for Person 5 Royal to come out and me to not do it right away... or if they go a bit longer just in time for FFVII R to come out and me to not do it right away.
Sadly, they'll always be a step behind augmented tome weapons until the final patch when they can become BiS. The savage raiders would have a meltdown and flood the forums with salty tears if relics were that strong beforehand. Lol.
Plus, SE doesn't want to make tome weapons irrelevant altogether, so they'll be as strong as mid-step Ex-Trial weapons for most steps- better than regular tome gear, but worse than augmented. Or something like that.
People mostly do relics for the glam anyway, which is why I'm hoping they look better than the Eureka one, which were terrible compared to the previous relics, imo.
Assuming you can get to a store to pick up new games.
490 seems fair, Tome weapons are very easy to get too. The stormblood Relic was pretty much irrelevant until Hydatos and most people did it just for something to do and the other rewards, I saw very few actually glam them. Due to weapon damage being such an important stat, it's unlikely that a 490 would compete with Savage weapons.
He is speaking from experience. The reason all Raid weapons are 5 ilevels higher than the raid/augmented tomestone gear is due to the 2.0 i90 BCoB weapons not being desirable over the i90 Relic weapons and 3.05's i210 Gordian Weapons not being desirable over the i210 Augmented tomestone weapons.
During the previous expansions the release order was the following:
ARR
- i80 - 2.0*
- i90 - 2.0*
- i100 - 2.2
- i110 - 2.28
- i115 - 2.38
- i125 - 2.45
- i135 - 2.51
*Originally appeared in 1.X
HW
- i170 - 3.15
- i200 - 3.15
- i210 - 3.15
- i230 - 3.25
- i240 - 3.3
- i260 - 3.45
- i270 - 3.5
- i275 - 3.55
StB
- i290 - 4.0
- i335 - 4.25
- i340 - 4.25
- i345 - 4.25
- i355 - 4.25
- i360 - 4.36
- i365 - 4.36
- i370 - 4.36
- i375 - 4.45
- i380 - 4.45
- i385 - 4.45
- i390 - 4.55
- i395 - 4.55
- i400 - 4.55
- i405 - 4.55
- i405+ - 4.55
i490 is likely the best place for the 5.25 relics to end and i500 the best place for the 5.3X relics to end.
Yep. Relics were originally supposed to be on par with savage weapons each tier, requiring a much longer and time consuming, but easier grind to get. But the raiders were upset and SE dialed it back so relics only became equal at the final step.
Sadly, it makes the grind kinda useless for anything but glam if they follow the Eureka path. Tome gear shouldn't be stronger than the relics.
That would be unfortunate,
I already have all the materials for a Crystarium Weapon and have had them for a long time I was just saving them until the Relic Weapons. So I could see whether I wanted to put it on another job or if Relics were worse put the Crystarium weapon on the one I play the most. They are just really easy to get in comparison to a Relic Weapon.
just how much longer are we waiting for this, we're nearly 1 and a half months since the release of 5.2, and there's been nothing. I really though we'd have heard more by now but they've been silent about this since 5.2 released. This was my most anticpated content mentioned in the live letter and it's annoying it's the only content that has yet to be released.
Yeah, I feel the same way honestly. I have a feeling though that recent events might have slowed the development process a bit. As frustrating as that would be I would understand. But all we've heard is...well, nothing, so I can only speculate. I was pretty motivated to play this week thinking that we would be getting the next patch this coming reset. After seeing nothing for days I haven't even bothered to log in. So...I guess I'll just keep playing other games. Thankfully PSO2 has been pretty fun even though I haven't had much time to play it. Other than that I've just been shiny hunting in Pokémon Shield. lol I guess on the plus side I have had other ways to occupy myself, but I just want my relic weapon grind dangit!
I'm going to guess mid-April personally.
That said what do you think the new relic will be? I imagine it'll be a more animated/flashy version of the weathered stuff we got but will it be just the one upgrade or will we get more? I wasn't around for other relics as I played at the beginning (quit when the Extreme Primal weapon was introduced, I'm BLM so it was the Elder Rod, that generation) and only came back just before Shadowbringers, so I'm not sure how these usually play out. I do remember getting the relic and then being able to upgrade it to the Zenith really easily, so will it be like that?
I'm super curious, I just hope it's not a godless slog like doing the books or grinding sand or whatever else.
Probably a week or two AFTER you can buy the tomestone weapon. Otherwise the higher price would've been pointless
I just hope the GNB weapons are more like Squall's gunblades. There's a perfect upgrade route already baked into FFVIII. Hilt > Blade > Hilt > Blade, etc.
And if the final tier doesn't have a glowing blue blade and a silver wing on the hilt I'm gonna be very disappointed. XD
It is too long by now, it should be among the first things, not the very last, together with the next mogtome even lol
And im pretty sure its long been done and they sit on 5.3-5.4, its just wasting our time, lettin us burn through every content as we basically have no choice >_>
FWIW, this was posted on the FFXI forums in regards to their monthly update:
Some things got pushed back to a later date. Not sure if FFXIV is in the same boat since they have more resources than FFXI.Quote:
The novel coronavirus has become an issue worldwide, with telecommuting and other measures currently in place at SQUARE ENIX. However, development machines are only available at the office, and security concerns place an additional restriction on the type of work we are able to do from home.
Again, im sure the patch is already done, or very far as they develeop ahead quite some part.
I'm a little worried about the timing. The Resident Evil 3 remake is out on April 3rd and the Final Fantasy 7 remake is out on April 10th. Both of which I have already pre-ordered and intend to play immediately. I'm hoping the patch goes live this coming week.
I personally thought it would be out this Tuesday when it was announced it was otw as this is the first week you can obtain the tome weapon. I understand if the corona virus affected any patch after this, but wasn't this done already? There were parts of it in the 5.2 trailer and I figured it was done but "staggered" so people have a reason to come back. Hopefully soon.
