It's not gonna happen as Roulettes are there to help people fill queues with rewards for clearing.
Speaking of which, what reasons do you have for hating Amaurot aside from getting it constantly?
Look up the definition of Roulette.
Compared to the other lvl 80 dungeons there’s just a lot going on. I get it, it’s meant to be...well I won’t say because that’s a spoiler, but it’s not at all relaxing to me. Compared to either The Twinning or Anyder, which I enjoy. Even Grand Cosmos is fun to me. Heck,I enjoy Eden’s Verse.
But Amaurot just seems long and tedious. And if you forget something you die instantly because your gear is synced down to 440.
I hate it. So much.
I don't mind it too much, but do wish my ilvl was higher in there. The dungeon feels like it takes longer because of where they set ours at.
Amaurot in design is fine, the main problem is your ilvl is synced to 430, so it's impossible to clear it fast. It should just be 470 like the rest.
See I'd take Amaurot over the hell that was Toto-rak almost every day for several months back in HW. I still get irrationally annoyed any time it pops up in the roulette these days because of how many times the roulette plopped me in there back then - even though it's practically a brain dead affair these days.
Would it be a roulette then?
What are you dying instantly at..?
I just want the 50/60/70 roulettes to be separated into their own level roulettes...
The one spot I see people die often in that place, is the first boss. Think I ran it with a healer once who, no joke, died 3-4 times to the meteor dropping. But that's such an easily, avoidable mechanic, I have no idea what was going on on the healer's side. At least we had a competent Red Mage on our Team, who kept rezzing them. Then there's the final boss, who could also be a problem if the DPS is too low. But that was a problem at launch. After a few months now, that should pretty much be a non-issue now.
But the cast is so long you could run around the arena 2 times.
And even if they die, well, a lot of people die randomly in dungeon and, that's not the end of the world.
Agreed. Amaurot is extremely difficult. That one should be moved to the expert roulette. It is and never was normal content. The fact that it is a main story dungeon baffles me. What were they thinking? I concur though, we should be able to disable the really difficult stuff like this.
I thought this was about Aurum Vale.
When it comes to giant pulls, I found The Burn to be much more challenging. Because there are constantly aoes that you have to avoid. As long as Tanks watch their cds and Healers know what they are doing, I don't find it any more difficult than any other dungeon. But that's just my personal experience.
Can I remove a bullet from the Russian Roulette?
This. Amaurat especially needs rouletters to help new players finish the MSQ.
I would love to opt out of ARR content in my roulettes since I find most of it dull now but the reality is the roulettes primarily exist to keep old content alive and doing so would hurt queues.
But there's no reason to run the level 80 roulette anyway.
The total tomes you get from the 80 roulette plus the dungeon, is less than what you get if you just ran one of the two most recent dungeons.
On the subject, I wouldn't be against having a single opt out dungeon, being able to choose just one dungeon you never want to play via a roulette.
I think there's enough competition for 'worst dungeon' that there would still be enough able to run whichever dungeon you need.
Sastasha, Halatali, Toto-rak, Tam Tara, I'd love to exclude all of those, but would be happy getting rid of any single one.
Yes, let me never run Toto-Rak again. No more slowing pools of poison.
No more.
I'm starting to like Amaurat myself. It shows me how few tanks are as actually as good as they THINK they are.
I'd be happy with a way to prevent constant reruns of the same instance. I've had over a week straight of Mt Gulg in leveling roulette.
Roulettes in general need more options, not fewer. (The only removal I'd be behind is the removal of EX trials from mentor roulette; they either belong in their own roulette or not at all.)
Level 80 roulette right now is going to be weighted heavily toward Amaurot because it's the only dungeon in the bunch required for story.
In general though, if the 80 roulette has a "1/3" chance of giving you a dungeon you don't want to run, you might be best off simply not running that roulette.
Yes, just like the trials roulette is still a roulette despite not including Amaurot. Letting players avoid specific dungeons isn't going to cause the entire system to collapse. Participation may even increase if people didn't have to worry about being placed in their least favorite content. If certain dungeons are really despised by the majority, a separate option could be added to the duty finder to prioritize queuing into first timer dungeons or unpopular dungeons in return for more XP/tomes/whatever.
the entire point of roulettes is to help new players get duty pops.
That is one of the intentions behind them but it is not an excuse to make roulettes frustrating or boring, especially when an opt out function isn't going to negatively impact queues. In fact we already have some ability to opt out of duties since we have multiple roulettes instead of one roulette covering all duties. The only roulette that is all encompassing in the mentor roulette, and it's one of the most complained about.
Giving players more control over what they queue for would almost certainly help the Alliance Raid roulette for example since there are players interested in the higher level raids as well as the lower levels ones. Players that refuse to queue because of the ARR raids might change their mind if they never have to play through them. More diverse roulettes like Leveling won't really suffer from the option to lock out a specific dungeon, or possibly a handful of them, because the list of duties is so long that no particular dungeon will be universally avoided. If that did end up happening somehow then incentives could be used to attract more players. Expert roulette is probably one of the few that might be an issue because it doesn't include many duties.
It sounds like a win win for me. Keep roulettes around to help queues and make them more fun for those participating in them.
It's not so much that Amaurot is harder than a normal dungeon, in my experience, it's that the ilevel sync is aggressive enough that people who are coming in as level 80 used to the damage they can do and/or soak in later content with i470+ gear can be caught off-guard in Amaurot. Add to that the Roilers and Detonators that tether to folks (and the healing debuff you get from it), and some parties can get caught off-guard.
You're absolutely right that the Burn is more obnoxious, mechanically.
It's far more likely queues would become unbearably longer for certain dungeons than increase. If you could veto five dungeons from Leveling, I can all but guarantee which ones would be picked.
Sastasha
Copper Bell
Toto-rak
Tam-tara
Aurum Vale
And therein lies the problem. Four of them are story required, which means new players could be waiting hours. Amaurot would have a similar problem simply because of the ilvl sync.
You don't have to run a roulette, imagine that concept.
So many ways to get tomes in this game now.
Technically, MSQ players can run Amaurot just as the other msq dungeons with Trusts which makes the whole roulette reliance rather wonky, unless the players specifically prefer to run those dungeons with real people. This is, of course, fair enough, and up to everyone's personal preferenance. In contrast to pre-ShB dungeons where you must rely on other players - no negative connotation intended - to queue for the dungeons (and some "harder"/longer to queue trials).
