I've been mostly lucky in my FFXIV career, since I main White Mage and this wasn't an issue and was able to level my Summoner to 80 by using Scholar. One of my other highest classes is Astrologian, also a Healer.
I've been trying to level my Dragoon (presently 68) and boy is it a chore. Early on I would work on my hunting log to distract me while I wait, but now I don't have that and there isn't much content I'm interested in while waiting. I don't enjoy crafting, and there is only so much I can do in my apartment.
Last night, Friday night after work - so prime time, I tried to do MSQ Roulette. It said 20 minutes. Okay whatever. This is already a huge time sink but I decided to just play a mobile game on my iPad while I wait. Well 20 minutes comes and I'm still 19th in line. 30 minutes come and I'm 11th. I log out.
I've had similar experiences trying to que for whatever the highest dungeon is (for me, Doma Castle right now). I know this isn't popular content but I would hope there are 3 other people in the grand scheme of the game that might que for this in less than a half hour.
Levelling roulette is okay but also can take up to 20 minutes.
It's really easy to get discouraged when half my free gaming time, or more, is taken up by waiting. I know other people posted in the past that they do housework, watch Netflix, etc. while waiting but this is a bit ridiculous.

If you can't wait for the queue (not que) times related to DPS classes, you'll have to just stick with healing and tanking.
With how popular dps classes seem to be, the queues are going to be long, there's no real getting around that.
In ShB dungeons you can use trusts for an instance queue regardless of your class role. So there's that to look forward to at least. -

MSQ Roulette almost always takes longer than advertised due to it being unpopular. About the only advice that can be offered is to bring something else to keep you occupied while you wait. I recommend a good book.

I can understand the frustration, truly, but it simply is what it is; the long DPS queue has been a thing since before the Cataclysm. But it does raise a question on my end; when one queues for a specific duty, is that not given priority when others are queueing randomly within the same level range of that duty?

There's something of a lull at the moment since a lot of people are waiting for the next content patch to go live. You're also on a data centre comprised of a significant number of players who do not actively engage PvE content - I was on Balmung myself up until three months ago and left after struggling to find people to do content with. The server shuffle saw a lot of PvE focused players depart Crystal, unfortunately.

OP, what's stopping you from doing other exp rewarding content while waiting in the queue?
Since you're level 68 on your DRG, there's the Ananta and Kojin beast tribe dailies that you could do for exp, along with the Stormblood daily hunt marks. And if you run out of those before finishing your roulettes, doing FATEs (with the help of your chocobo) is an option too. -

I mean.. If you do the mathematics on Classes, it's pretty obvious why DPS queues are abysmal at best.
Tank Classes: 4
Healer Classes: 3
DPS Classes: 10
Given that, it's more likely for people to pick a DPS class than tank/healer, purely because there are over double the options.
Only real way to "avoid" or circumvent the 'bad dps queue' times is to find a friend who's leveling tank / healer. Queue with them. Or get lucky when the next expansion brings out a new tank / healer, inflating those classes for the first few weeks. But you'd probably have to wait over two years before that. -

There are daily hunts + beast tribe quests you can do while waiting for queue. Below 70 you should have access to at least two sets of beast tribe dailies in stormblood that'll give dps a decent chunk of xp. You can also pop into a few random fates, at least to get the challenge log bonus if you haven't yet.

As others have said, the only way past this if you want to play DPS is to keep going. Eventually you'll get used to it. I started out as a Healer and over time my main shifts between the roles, so I know the pain of switching to DPS and having to adjust to the queues.
As others have mentioned, doing daily hunts, fates and beast tribes while queuing is a good one, imo. That way you won't feel your time in queue is going to waste.
Though as an amusing side note, recently learned of a subreddit called "Dpsbookclub" for talking about books you've read while queuing.

At least that's how it was in every game I played. And there is no any real way to avoid it, sadly or not. The only place where you tend to find party faster than healer and tank is alliance raid - the one that is for 24 players, because it asks for 15 DPS players per 3 tanks and 3 healers.
So welp... as bad as it can sounds... just deal with it. Do something in the meantime - FATEs on another job or even the same one, or just read book/check your mail. -

Get ready for it. Times are going to be, by nature, longer because there are: 4 tanks, 3 healers and 10 DPS. Meaning, there are going to be more DPS in queue than tanks and healers. Also, more people like to play DPS because, outside of raids/savage/Xtreme, it's a pretty brainless position while running leves. You hit the thing until it dies then move on. There are very few mechanics to actually pay attention to so most people can level while watching Netflix or eating.
Lastly, you were doing MSQ...those times are ALWAYS long. Each run takes around an hour to complete and once they are done, there is no reason to run it again until the next day, unlike dungeons. -

It’s honestly not surprising that DPS have longer queues than tanks or healers if you sit down and really think about it.
Compare the number of available tank/healer jobs to the number of available DPS jobs—there are far more of the latter than the former. And then consider how DPS jobs are relatively “free of responsibility” in a lot of the content in this game—they aren’t responsible for “guiding” or “leading” a party (tank) or keeping people alive (healers); they just hit the things and call it a day. Think about both of those things, and you have your answer as to why their queues are so much longer than tanks or healers. More people are simply more attracted to them.
There’s not much you can do about mitigating queues if you are solo-queueing for roulettes or just running dungeons. Hence why people have suggested trying to find tank or healer friends that you can do stuff with a couple nights a week. I leveled some of my DPS jobs when I first started by partying with friends going on a tank or a healer class to make the wait not as long. And we had lots of fun playing together. I have a friend that we alternate playing tanks/healers to give the other faster queues on a DPS (even for things like Expert Roulette).
You also have options outside of dungeons, as others have mentioned: PotD for levels 1~60 and HoH for levels 61~70. Though, I am sympathetic to how boring mindlessly grinding both of them can be; they do typically have faster queues for the “grinding” floors. There are also beast tribes and the good ol’ FATE grinding. I would personally recommend doing a bit of FATE grinding with your chocobo while you were waiting for a queue—that way you are still “playing the game”, and you can add in some EXP. I don’t have issues with just sitting back and doing other stuff while I’m waiting on a queue, but if you want to actively “be playing the game”, doing extra content like beast tribes and FATEs during your wait is the best way to achieve that goal.

DPS are just everywhere, tho honestly... 30 mins isn't THAT long of a wait and my alt on Zalera doesn't even wait that long... she's a sam. But I'm also used to the DPS wait times as all mmos I know of has the same issue. I mean seriously tho, if you're 58 then a few runs of deep dungeon will get you to 60 and the ques will jump up a tiny bit depending on your playtime. the 60 dungeons pop more often then most. Least they did for me when I was leveling my monk so....

People get kicked from MSQ runs for various reasons and you can get lucky and get that spot, sometimes when the thing is almost done and get full credit for it.
Remember, it's on you to try and make a bad thing more bearable because the game itself is NOT going to help you. And if you can't cope with it, well.....
