[Suggestion] Please add a Nature themed job

With the changes to WHM over the course of the game, the job has moved away from their nature-themed beginnings, from CNJ. While it is fitting for a WHM to be more thematically divine, I truly miss the aesthetic and feeling of wielding nature.

Nature is now one of the least featured themes across the board. We have SO many interesting themes in this game -song and dance, curses and war tactics, fortune telling, former pirates, far eastern blades and magic, vampiric swordplay, forbidden ancient magic - you name it, we almost assuredly have it featured with very few themes left out. When it comes to nature, CNJ has that territory - or rather had.

As soon as CNJ turns into WHM they start to shift out of the nature theme and by 72 we completely lose the wind and earth from our arsenal (despite casting animations suggesting elements such as Cure being wind). All that is really left is Water via Fluid Aura and perhaps from Asylum (although I don't think that looks like water as much as it does astral/holy/divine).

So, I plead for a new job in 6.0 to be heavily themed in nature. From Earthquakes, Tornadoes, and Floods, to the growth flora and the spreading of pollen or spores. Whether the job be Geomancer, Green Mage, or a new original job to XIV, Nature should be thoroughly represented.

Personally, I was so sick of using Cure I on trees all the time so liked it when they no longer required me to use Cure I on some random tree in the middle of nowhere.

So a druid then.

Could be a great AOE and CC class if they didnt make all of its spells slow cast. Perhaps they could look at giving it excellent dot spread with aeo and dot combos for both damage and debuffs to npcs. Aoe roots spread poison/pollen debuff, Quake spreads slow or stun etc .

Perhaps it could use light and dark energy as a resource to channel/cast certain types of magic (typically sun/moon in other well known games)

Basically this idea fits a Geomancer. I can even see SE moving WHM away from the aspected spells like Stone or Aero to make room for a possible GEO job that uses elements. No idea if it would be a healer or a caster, though.

I really hope this is what they're doing, with any shifts away from the nature-themed elements as they move forward with WHM. Last I knew the word on Geomancer getting in was pretty much "not ever", and that with job changes in ShB they were opening things up with the healer rework so they could potentially add new healing jobs again.

Honestly, if there’s a druid-type job added, I would be all over it because that’s always been my favorite fantasy class along with rangers. (though ironically I’m not too into archers because I don’t care for bard)

What about bringing back the Vanadel Geomancer as a class? You'd sacrifice the stupidly high healing aspects of White Mage largely, but take on the nature aspects of Conjurer, the Luopan similar to a fairy, and the old buffs that could be provided that were taken away from Astrologians. It'd be a mishmash of all the healers, so it'd probably end up like Blue Mage as a Limited Job because of that, but the idea still has merit.

The reason WHM went away from conjury magic is simple. WHM uses the aether around them and from the twelveswood in order to cast spells - On the first, you can have neither of them, thus why the eden raids is about restoring the elements to the empty. Plus, you still have fluid aura (for some reason)

Lore-wise, that's logical. But you should still have access to the higher element spells that were removed with the 5.0 Patch while on the Source though like Aero III. Then again, I imagine that a trait to switch which spell you use depending on whether you were on the Source or First would be more trouble than needed.

My issue with that is the story is bringing us back to the Source now to deal with the Garleans again. So, theoretically we should be reverting back to wind and earth elements when that happens. But we won't, obviously. The Eden story line would suggest the same. It's a tricky plot hole. That would then also suggest that if we were to go to another shard, our spell elements would be replaced by the major element represented there. What would happen if we went to the Void?

Not only would it be a lot of work for little gain, it would cause some other issues. For some reason AST, WHM and SCH all have extremely similar color palettes when it comes to their nuke and their DoT at 80. I would assume any new healer would follow suit (perhaps a water based spell to align a nature theme to this) unless they diversify them again at 90. That homogenization is odd to me though, why do all 3 healers need to have visually similar single target DPS?

More reasons to have a new job completely focused on nature :)

Yes, please. It's also ironic that WHM lost the nature focus in skills, since in quests you get back to it even with the lvl80 job quest.
But it is what it is, and I'd be happy to see Geomancer (I don't know about Green Mage, but I think we have enough coloured mages as it is).

green mage was historically all about debuffs and status effects, iirc which just doesn't mesh with 14's mob/boss resistance mechanics. would love getting a scepter/mace/hammer class like them though!
geomancer i'd also enjoy and seems the obvious lore shoe-in from the AST classes (apparently), but i'm kinda stumped as to how it'll work. since from what i gather it's going to be ganking the elemental magics from WHM and the class lore expansions from AST, but it being terrain-based (as in certain skills were only usable when standing on certain types of ground or in certain weathers) in older games wouldn't translate well into 14's encounter design i think.

personally I would prefer if we actually had white mage going back to its conjury roots. IMO it was implemented pretty poorly and it didn't quite sit right that there's all this light aether...yet that should only affect 2 of our magical elements due to the positions of water wind and earth on the elemental wheel.

The lore surrounding whm is that they take the aether from the land, yet geomancers bend it to their will using their own aether. Geomancers use theirs in a more defensive role as barriers and adjusting the ground's aether to make airships fall whereas conjury is more a healing role and offensive role to destroy and rejuvenate rather than protect.

We never got a proper water spell, yet we've seen various water magics and wind spells inaccessible to the player. (Ystola in particular showcases tornado and water 4 in trusts)

Green Magic was all about both buffs and debuffs. Spells in the FF universe that have been classified as Green Magick:

• Protect: physical mitigation.
• Shell: magical mitigation.
• Bubble: Max HP increase.
• Tranq: DPS buff.
• Leap: movement buff.
• Decoy: gives provoke/tank stance effect on someone.
• Reverse: make attacks heal and heals attack a target.
• Blind: mitigation debuff.
• Sleep: crowd control debuff.
• Silence: interrupt.
• Oil: increased (fire) DPS on target.
• Drain: restores HP and deals damage.
• Syphon: restores MP and deals damage (to MP pool).

Many of these are already present in some form, like Energy Drain (Drain/Syphon), Repose/Sleep (Sleep), Interject/Head Graze (Silence) etc. The ones that would need attention would be Oil, which could function like Trick Attack or Chain Strategem and not rely on fire damage; Bubble, which could function similar to Adloquium; Protect/Shell could be a mechanic if given the healer role to rival WHM as prog healer etc. The Leaf line of spells could be resurrected for a thematic form of damage for them as well.

Healing needs a complete overhaul, though, to make use of any new/interesting mechanics. Using the AST example in this post, perhaps they could function similarly and contribute more in rDPS via buffs/debuffs than they could by casting nukes themselves.

I'd be cool with that, too. Dropping a giant ball of water on enemies in place of Afflatus Misery, bringing back Aero III animation, and incorporating an even more impressive stone spell would certainly be a more natural progression for CNJ. It's just such a shame that the nature theme is completely missing at endgame. PLD sort of has the divine aspect covered anyway.

We sure see a lot of ememies cast Water spells, so I wouldn't mind it coming back. But there's also things like the Elementalist Job like from Final Fantasy Tactics A2.

Luckily from what 14 has shown us thus far in regards to Geomancer is that they are Not terrain based. They are back to the Feng Shui Onmyuoji roots of the class. So while they will probably be taking over the Wind/Water/Earth Umbral spells I don't think they will be stepping on too many toes if put in as a caster role. Especially if they focus on the Onmyouji aspects of the class.

them going wind/earth/water would make them a good compliment to BLM's kit as a caster, certainly.
edit: though i fear that if it--or another class bundled with it--wasnt a healer class (and came with the healer retoolling that so many people are expecting, given their consistent neglect post-ShB) it could cause some pretty severe issues for the playerbase.

In the 8+ games Geomancer has been in, it has only ever had access to one healing ability, back in FF6. That plus it's similarities to conjurer I feel would solidify it as a non healer. There are much better options in the remaining FF class roster for the healer role coming. Especially with the next two classes most likely to be healer and caster coming with 6.0

Personally I would actually see the Geomancer as a tank as we currently have no elemental magic tank.
On the other in the caster department we already have 2 element users. We can argue none of them have water spells and barely any wind/earth but adding the Geomancer as a caster would really feel redundant to me.

We could obviously have it as a healer but I'd rather have the chemist . But it is true that he 'nature healer' is somewhat fine now with the whm no longer using any wind/earth spells. Just water spells as asylum and assize (and I'm not even sure they're water... But they were introduced during HW when WHM was still an earth/wind/water healer.

We already have 4 tanks, they really shouldn't be adding more.
As for chemist, we already have alchemist, and even though it's a crafter it's pretty much the same.

A chemist might make items more useful. I mean, when's the last time you used an Antidote or bottle of poison in a battle? If a new job can give new life to old content then let it be born.

Just want to say that Yoshi has said multiple times that he doesn't want to make a job that requires replenishing a stock of items. This is why he removed ammo from BRD, throwing chakrams from MNK, throwing pebbles from everyone else, and why he said NIN would never require tools for their spells like XI does. There's pretty much zero chance that CHM would make use of actual items.

I’d kill for a Druid like caster/healer to be added! Geomancer would be a good fit, or they could try just a straight up Druid and make it a unique FFXIV job!

We used them in ARR, that's for sure. They removed the need to use them because it's better not to have to. Bringing it back would be undoing QoL.
Anyway I was talking from a lore-based perspective, it would be like having the same class twice.

While I certainly don't expect it, I could see chemist as a 'tool-based' healer much like the MCH is a tool-based DPS (with their crossbow-bioblaster-grappling hook-rocketlauncher-etc super multitool, since if you notice most of their non-gun skills use the same tool in a different held position/configuration), hot-brewing potions and incense to heal and buff, smokebombs or poisons for damage or debuffing, and so on. could use a censer as their weapon.

My guess would be they properly refocused White Mages so they're more centered on their normal traits, and are likely to open it up for some sort of job. So it's probably a when not an if. Granted with all going on it's likely to be a bit before we see it. There isn't really any particular reason to change the White Mage otherwise.
