Crafting Changes Kill Crafting

<hmm title should have been: "From an Omnicrafter" but my brain's raging fury typed what is actually there>

Okay who thought any of this was good? Seriously?

1. No steady hand + No reclaim = Rapid Syn + Hasty Touch put in trash can. No way am I going to risk losing potentially HOURS of material gathering on a 50%-60% success rate with a ZERO chance of getting my mats back on a RNG slap across the face.

2. You guys made this MORE macro friendly, not less. Most things are success near guaranteed, those that aren't are trash canned, plus no claim. What? HQ gathering items into crafting mats was a pain where rapid syn and hasty touch were needed, now that is not going to happen. Still trying to figure out how to do that.

3. LOL that rapid syn trait bumping the advancement to 500% but still keeping it a 50% chance of working. You know what this translates to? SE slapping you in the face or LOLing at you for actually using rapid syn instead of trash canning it.

4. Less bloat is wonderful, however the rapid syn + hasty touch thing is lemminged off the cliff (just go ahead and remove these skills you will see NOONE using them as they are).

*5. And no comfort zone :/

{im glad im not a low level crafter. I imagine crafting HQ for GC or rowen is a freakin nightmare with skill cp being the same and CP only getting good as your level goes up. I remember using that 50+ free stack skill for free +40 completion in an effort to get more CP from comfort zone repeated usages. well no more for that. did that until level 70. glad Im 80 havent done that in ShB. rip you low levels}

Patient touch is also 50% so no extra stacks of inner quiet. No rapid syn at 300%, so I'm stuck with 120% or 150%. No master mend 2 for +60 duribility for 92 (got 30 for 88).

So how is making crafting more accessible? Note new items have quality of 44,450 and completion of 6700+. It would normally take three+ rapid synths to get the lesser 5500s. So now its 8? So how do you get inner quiet to 11 stacks let alone quality to 100%? 5.0 I could get HQ with all NQ is I was incredibly lucky, adn even then I used 50% mats. Now I wouldn't even try to HQ without 100% HQ mats, and I'm not even sure I want to try and risk losing 1+ million in mats...

Someone prove me wrong, list how you HQ with these changes?

Both Hasty Touch and Rapid synth need the chance boosted to about 75% to make it reasonable.

I dunno, I did a bit of crafting earlier with Rapid Synthesis and Hasty Touch and didn't have any problems. It didn't feel like only 50% success rate, but maybe I was just lucky.

I was worried too, but I didn't find myself failing any more than before.

1.0 --> 2.0 changes killed crafting
2.0 --> 3.0 changes killed crafting
3.0 --> 4.0 changes killed crafting
4.0 --> 5.0 changes killed crafting
5.0 --> 5.1 changes killed crafting

C'mon guys! How many times are we gonna kill crafting! We are beating a dead horse now!

You obviously never suffered through the 2.0 crafting book fiasco, or are failing to be funny. Either way, noone that crafts any amount is going to think this is a good idea. Plus the new items have 44450 quality and 6700+ completion. And patient touch is also worthless at 50% as well.

I failed at a 2 million weapon back in 3.0 I refuse to do that again.

We're confirmed to be killing crafting again in 5.2. So... More? More times.

Looks to me like they want you to use HQ materials to make HQ gear. Instead of using a macro to make everything HQ. Thankfully I only level crafting to save gil on melding.

It looks like you can still macro things to HQ just as easily as you could before.

Only one I've seen is for 2 star 80 durability items and requires you to be completely melded to the hilt and using HQ Blood Boulabaisse and Craftsman's Syrup.

I'm basically using all 430 crafted gear + secondary item, all overmelded, plus my three specialists (ARM, BSM and GSM) have 440 primary. When overmelding, I aimed for Craftsmanship and Control; only able to get 2 CP overmelds on the left side...
My stats top out at 2289 Craftmanship for ARM, slightly less for BSM and GSM, Control is in the 2161-2174 range, while my CP is 482. :/

I don't use macros.. though am now open to it..

you are trying to the meld wrong materia, read the item info, you can only overmeld 1 VI or VIII and the rest can be any other tier, also you don't need to use any VIII or VII at all anyway to make the new facet set easily, I only had VI on the open slot and VI overmelded once and after that I had V and IV and III on accessories as the last materia, tools only had 1 overmeld materia for cp also stromblood bis crafting food which gives you about 50 cp and control was good enough, did not even need to use the slightly better shadowbringers cp food.

don't copy random internet rotations and make you own if you use different food or melds and don't start testing your rotation on items which have expensive mats, start with the previous tier items, they are only slightly easier.

When you meld you want to cap CP. It may not be the first materia that you meld into each gear piece, but you want to plan to max out your CP.

Craftsmanship is a bit nebulous to identify exactly how much you want to meld. First requirement is the minimum craftsmanship to be able to even attempt that recipe. Beyond that you'll need to make sure you have enough craftsmanship to fit all your progress into a desired number of synth steps. Just do not over do melding craftsmanship.

And then toss everything else into control.

Top tier HQ food and HQ potion / syrup should be baseline when you're crafting top tier recipes. It shouldn't be a surprise or out of place that they're expected.

Additionally, CUL recipes have the stat requirements for equivalent level as the other crafters, but tend to be easier to handle the mats for. I like doing my test runs on CUL.

Love this new crafting change. Easier and less boring. I’m actually enjoying crafting.

I don't disagree. But my original point was they don't want you to macro your way to max level anymore.

Guys, you make your own rotation by trying to craft. When you find one that works, repeatedly, that’s what you make into your own macro.

You don’t should not have to wait for others to produce a macro for you; if everyone did that everyone would be waiting around in vain. Be the pioneer, make your own rotation and your own macro!

It's so confusing now have no clue how craft high end item anymore. They need to change it back to how it was. They removed way to many skills that you need. If had to rate new crafting I would give it 1/2 star out of 5.

Only thing we lost that I was using regularly was Comfort Zone and no longer needing to spend CP on Steady Hand makes up for it.

What was removed that you feel is needed?

No you lost cross skills, you lost skill that increase's quality 150% now need good to use it. Better look again because my hot bar had over 12 skills blacked out and we now don't have. They cut total skill by half of what we had.

Waste not is still there and that was a cross skill from Leatherworker. A big change was all the specialist ones being gone which I never even touched to be fair. Ingenuity got buffed and it's really good now. Right now I've been using Waste not 2, Ingenuity, Prepatory touch, been working fine with making things High quality. You'll get a hang of it soon. I don't see that big of a loss with this new crafting method. It's actually a QoL since I don't need to have 5 hot bars worth of crafting skills on my screen.

A handful of the cross class skills went away, most of them became skills that every class now gets. You lost the ability to equip them earlier then you could earn them, which only affects people currently leveling who pushed a few classes way above the others for bonus skills. And you lost the ability to buff the chance to succeed on hasty and rapid. You gained 100% success rates on most of your touches and synths, you no longer need to level classes for CC skills(just if you want to make meld or repair their things now), and they trimmed a lot of excess skills. Ive made about a dozen of the 2star recipes(along with a decent amount of lower level stuff that wasnt even remotely challenging) since the change went through, and had no issues at all. The skills and tricks i used a month ago are still working just fine.

Imagine having risk/reward in a game.

You probably should look at your spellbook again. You still have:

Hasty Touch
Rapid Synthesis
Tricks of the Trade
Ingenuity
Waste Not
Innovation
Waste Not II
Muscle Memory
Careful Synthesis

We lost Comfort Zone, Rumination and Ingenuity II. Loss of Comfort Zone is offset by most actions getting success rate boosted to 100% so we are no longer spending CP on Steady Hand. Rumination was rarely useful except at lower levels when you didn't have Byregot's Blessing to consume your Inner Quiet stacks. Ingenuity II was no more effective at 80 than Ingenuity so no one was using it (I hope).

If you were using Advanced Touch on end game crafts, you were wasting CP that could have been used better.

What we mainly lost was the unnecessary button bloat filling up bars with things we shouldn't have been using for end game crafts in the first place. Take this as an opportunity to review the actions we have and refine your crafting techniques because I assure you than end game crafting is more than possible with the actions we now have. If it wasn't, you wouldn't be seeing all that HQ Facet gear hitting the MB.

Reclaim was useful! No one will take any chances on rotations and there is no recovery for human error on expensive crafts.

"was" been the correct word when hasty was a thing, after we got new touch actions, both hasty and reclaim became useless because crafts were guaranteed 100% complete.
