Why are there no sources of EXP for crafters below 50?

Been trying to get all my crafters to 50 as of late and good lord it is terrible. Once you finish up using all your Beast Tribes on the Ixali and do the GC turn in.... What do you do then? There's no way to make EXP other than to spam levequests which isn't much of a choice once you use them all up, and people recommend leveling all the crafters at once???

Sorry for the rant, it's just so frustrating to have been working near exclusively on weaver and burning all my leves on NQ stuff since it's basically impossible to HQ without a high level friend.

(Also, this extends to DoL as well, but that's a story for another time.)

If you want an easier time crafting HQ, I advise you get all others to level 15, there are some nifty cross class skills available which will help with that.

The only thing that changes over 50, is you get scrip exchange, which is awful for crafters imo and the weekly deliveries which is only about 1 level or so a week.

Question - Have you crafted every entry in your weaving crafting log? The passive exp gained from crafting each item for the first time as well as the number of silks and threads you'll have to craft in order to make the final recipes will easily level you.

I suppose my main issue is that the main sources of crafter EXP are time gated since Beast Tribes are 12 a day and Levequests are 6* a day.

Been working on the crafting log, yeah, but it's extremely tedious with the crafting of prereq. materials.

also how is how hard it is to consistently HQ items when on level. That +100% bonus to levequest rewards is such a massive bonus it feels like a waste not to take advantage of it.

Arguably any high lv crafter can quickly craft for you levequest items in HQ. I did they for a friend ans in 15min he went from the ~30 to 50

- finishing crafting log (crafting things you never crafted yet) give bonus exp.
- the more quality, the more exp gain for each craft.

As someone who had all crafters to 50 before 2.1 this is painful to read as the only experience available then was actually crafting, levequests and GC turn ins.

Ixali, prior to 50, are great but other than those options, that's it. Thankfully though, you can easily stack xp buffs to quicken your general crafting xp. Challenge Log xp is a weekly benefit, as well as first time completion of any item crafted (even comes with achievements). Food xp buffs, FC crafting buff (if your FC prefers other active buffs you can always use GC Crafting manuals in place of it) and crafting stations at your FC house if your FC owns one.

GC turn ins and levequests double xp rewards for HQ - meaning you'll always want to. It'll save you on levequest expenditure and sky rocket your leveling progress. Back when I cheesed crafting levels with levequests it was only about 5-7 HQ turn ins per 8-10 levels. Unlike how people cheese the crafting levequest system from 60+ you'll want to only use the highest grossing bracket available to you. If your crafter is lv15 and only have lv15 levequests available, find the largest xp payout levequest and spam that sucker with hq turn ins until you unlock the door next bracket.

99 levequests should be more than enough to get at least 3 crafting classes to 50 with proper planning and resources. It'll slow down for everything else afterwards as levequests is the absolute fastest method but if you really wanted to 50 all crafting classes quickly it's easily doable. If anything you'll run out of shards and crystals before anything else in the process.

Now I think about it, it's rather curious they only applied the 75% HQ bonus from using all HQ mats to ShB recipes (which are by a mile the easiest to 100% from NQ mats), instead of everything below which would be a nice boost for levelers. They got that a bit mixed up.

You could wait until 5.1, they're planning an overhaul on crafter skills and specifically eliminating cross class skills form crafters. Should be easier after the update.

Quick synthing mats then making one of every item in the crafting log for the first time completion bonus is a fair chunk of XP toward leveling. Don't worry about whether the result is HQ (unless you're going for the leve turn-ins) but do try to increase quality as much as you can since that impacts how much XP you get for making an item.

As Deathgiver says, I wouldn't push to level right now unless you have a specific reason to. Wait for 5.1 when they're going to implement an overhaul to crafting to make it easier for players to get into it.

Even at low levels, XP earned is based off how much the player increases quality during crafting and not the end quality. I figured that out when I started on my third character and focused on making housing items to level. I don't feel it's a bad design choice since it emphasizes using your CP effectively to get quality over relying on HQ materials. It does make things a bit harder for the novice crafter trying to figure out how it all works.

The thing with cross class is right now, they are all backwards compatible. Like Steady Hand II. Before if you took Culi to 37 first, you could use it at level 5 on every other class. If you took Culi to 37 and Weaver to 50, you had 6 classes with high level skills that you could 'easy button' to 50. That won't be happening anymore. After the nuke all cross class, we will be copy and paste leveling 8 classes the exact same way because even if they give all 8 classes Careful synth II at 50, you won't be getting it until 50.


As for OP, it's a grind.
Button mash to 18,

inner quiet, steady hand, Waste not, standard touch x 4, 2 Careful Synth. It will HQ enough that it will trigger the bonus experience. It's a simple enough rotation you could make a macro for it. I never have but it could be done. You do that on parts for levequests, vendor the NQ, use the HQ for Levequests and it will take out 2 or 3 levels per levequest level group. Once I have Weaver to 50 I can usually get all other classes from 20-50 in a night assuming I have the mats.

Thanks for the tip. I didn't know about the EXP bonus for HQ attempts until now and it made leveling so much less of a hassle. At level 40+ (which was my ALC) it only took about an hour for 3-4 levels, with the last bit being easily covered by the HQ stuff. Looks like being an omnicrafter is closer than it seems. :D

Oh man, forgot about that. Here's hoping whatever they do, they keep that part. Like an 'armory' bonus for crafters and gatherers, where unlocking the skill on your first job still lets you use them on the others, even if they are identical.

I'd rather see them promote Omni Crafting myself. Consolidated class system on one character is something they promote in every other aspect, yet Omni crafting is a 'bad' thing.The reasoning is all wrong.

The difference is that in every other subsection of the jobs, one job is self sufficient.

you don't need botany to do Miner.

You don't need Gunbreaker to do Warrior. You don't need X to do Y.

Unless you're a crafter. In which case, you need all of them to do any one, because they all bring either a required ability or a contingency ability. This is ignoring the basic ability to also craft everything in the game which significantly increases your profit margin when dealing with multi-component crafts.

You used to. You used to need 15 CNJ to take your GLD to PLD. You used to need 15 GLD to take your MRD to WAR. And so on.

You still (kind of) need MIN 20 for your BTN, and BTN 20 for your MIN. At least, if you want to make use of all six elemental wards you do. Not that many people go out and actually gather shards nowadays.

But given that they have been decreasing the inter-class dependencies in the combat realms, it stands to reason they would do the same in the non-combat realms. Maybe this is what they are doing in the DoH/DoL revamp coming up?

Bu[t back on topic : TC, your source of exp sub 46 (when the Ixali open up) is the most elementary source of income of all : actually doing what the class is supposed to be doing. Crafters gonna craft. (And Gatherers gonna gather, not that the original post was about gathering.)

Use all NQ materials, and max out the Quality bar. You’ll get a 300% bonus, that stacks on top of Rested and food and other exp buffs. That’s turning a 650 exp craft into 2600 exp or more. That’s also not including the bonus exp you get for making something for the first time. Doing the Crafting Log (both the leveling and the housing) are slower, but exp-lucrative, means of leveling up.

You need a L 41 MSQ quest to unlock Ixal quests. And a crafter L1.

I dont' understand something..
what is the point from Ixaly daily quests? all completed Ixaly quests gived about 90% of level.. and GC delivery - about 8000 EXP (about 3 %).. summary its about 1 lvl per day? So i need 35 days to take 50 lvl of only 1 proffecion (if i dont have opportunity take levemets)?

Ixal beast tribes are a great source of exp
Grand company turn in also for exp, double if HQ
lev quests to complete, double if HQ
If you have the gil to spare, you can pretty much grind craft a good amount of levels. I would suggest buying the engineering manual that boosts crafting exp gained from your Grand company city NPC. You can use company seals to obtain these. They really come in handy.

Yeah, it is only about one level per day from Ixal quests. But you also can get Materia from the higher tier Ixal quests, and doing the Ixal quests give you the opportunity to barter for some nice stuff.
But remember that it is in addition to all other sources of EXP. Add in GC deliveries (which can give a lot of Exp for starred HQ items) and levequests and the Exp just for crafting an item and the bonus for the first time you craft a specific item - it all adds up quite quickly.

When Ixal was current content it gave an ingredient for the Artisan gear. Even now, Ehcatl Sealant is quite expensive as it's a process to get to it. You can decide if you want to unlock Ixal enough to get it. It's something you can grind over right now but you could future proof your reputation and have access to it, should they ever decide to make it an ingredient in the future.

The Ixal also have daily turnin quests. Worth unlocking for those.

I wouldn't mind this too much if they revamped the market board to let you buy any number of mats like they just did in WoW.
Currently I won't buy 99 crafted mats, use 10, and sell the remaining 89 at a loss. Instead, I'll just wait until I get the needed
skill up to the level where I can make the cross-class item myself.

I'd like to see all recipes require materials only made by one class, but I can't imagine SE editing all of them to do that.

It has been a long time but aren’t there ixal turn-in/supply quests as well as special synthesis quests? The nice thing about turn-ins is that if you actually craft them then you get the xp for making the item (which is buffed by engineering manuals etc.) as well as the turn-in reward.

Or if you sell items then you get gil as well as xp.

Thank you so much for the EXP buffs below 50 ffxiv team! Good gravy does it feel better overall, and it no longer feels like a waste turning in NQ items.

I saw a guy ding Level 32, 33, 34, AND 35 turning in a single GC item, and I was like "wow....."

And silly me, I just crafted for xp. I didn't even start using Leve's until after 50 lol. I did do Ixali Beast Tribes though. I didn't think it was that bad. I just went and gathered a crap load of stuff, did my crafting log and craft craft craft. 50-70 felt a lot rougher to me for some reason. Then again I don't mind repetitive tasks so maybe I'm a glutton for punishment?
