(Sorry English is not my first language)
I am rather new to dps. I appreciated the dev for this fun job. However there are something that I wish it could be improved the flow of gameplay.
- Our dps (and fun factor) is really depend on luck
- It felt really really good when fan dance proc after one another. My character is really dancing while I am doing OK dps.
- It felt really bad (and bad dps) when it does not proc anything (stuck at 1 > 2 > 1 > 2)
- Sometimes, I am able to destroy SSS E2S with ease. Sometimes, I fail with 2-8% HP dummy left. Our dps varies so much from luck. (With food buff)
- So, apart from player’s skill, the problem is the inconsistency dps.
- I think this issue has been passed down to dancer from Machinist but... god know why.
Suggestion
- normal circumstance, if the first hit does not proc, can we guarantee the proc of second hit?
- under the effect of Flourish, can we have 100% chain proc?
- I don’t mind if skill’s potency need to be lower to compensate because it is more fun this way.
Savage content concern
- I am now stuck at E2S’s tight dps check.
Since the savage boss has same HP for all job combinations. Sometimes, while the party did not fail the mechanic but the boss hard enrage at 5%. I felt I am the deadweight of the party due to bad luck of my dps and skill.
- I dunno why but I feel I got carry by other dps on E1S...
- I am OK with lowest dps in party because I like support job but sometimes the dps gap is just too much.
- There are reasons why SSS dummy for dancer is lowest but I wondered our support buff is worth that much dps and inconsistency?
This feedback is just from my own experience so it may not be the the same with other players.
If saber dance is ogcd, I would be forever grateful.

While DNC could use some tweaks to its damage in the future, it is more than capable of clearing current Savage content despite its proc-based gameplay.
If you are seeing E2S enrage at 5% with no deaths, there could be a couple of reasons for that:
—Group DPS is too low: this could be caused by inefficient gear or rotational issues of your party members. With no deaths, there should be little reason to hit enrage at 5%, so I think it’s very likely some of your party members could be performing sub-optimally.
—Boss uptime: are Tanks and Melee DPS disengaging from the boss too much? This lowers their damage and could be adding to your enrage.
—Healer damage: this early in the tier, healer DPS is fairly mandatory for groups that want to clear as DPS simply do not have the gear to push enrages right now. Are the healers in your parties contributing to damage?
—Whoever you have Dance Partner’d is doing something wrong: DNC’s damage also relies heavily on their partner for constant Esprit gain for Saber Dance. If you have picked a suboptimal partner, your performance will suffer because of that.
—Your personal damage is too low: without any videos or logs to see what you’re doing, it’s hard to say what specific rotational issues you might have; but even with the RNG and the noticeably lower damage, DNC is still able to clear all the Savage floors just fine. This could also be gear related: are you in i450 or do you still have i440 stuff? Ideally, you should upgrade everything to a base i450. The main stat and VIT increases are well worth it.
Without anything that shows your personal performance, it cannot be said for certain if you have rotational issues and what said issue may be (and how to rectify them). But it’s a bit telling to hit 5% enrage with no deaths on E2S, so there are definite issues with regards to damage somewhere—be it from your rotation or those of your party members.
Regarding the SSS dummies: SB BRD could see some RNG inconsistencies with their SSS dummies due to proc chances because their Repertoire gain was so reliant on snapshotting critical hit buffs onto their DoTs. However, they were very strong in an actual Savage setting, and could clear the content with ease. I haven’t personally used SSS dummies to see if DNC may suffer from the same type of reliance. I know that DNC dummy parses are lower due to them not having a Dance Partner for Esprit gain, or a party for Esprit gain during Technical Finish. -

I'm running into the same problem. I'm capping at about 9.1-9.2k pDPS, 10.3-10.4 rDPS - I just got removed from a group because they think its my rotation thats causing my DPS to not be in the 90+% (I compared my DPS on apull to a 90% dancer, and the only conclusion I can make is they have better gear, as I am roughly 1 week behind on normal eden gear and 1 or 2 behind on savage as I had a moment of indecisiveness and almost swapped to mnk.)

But the feeling of the other three dps + even tank and healer dps carrying me is still there.
My dps skill cannot reach 10k yet.
I guess I need to practice more to be able to pull off high percentile number.
However, I still think dancer dps need to be more consistent. (Less depend on luck)

At 95th percentile, DNC aDPS (which is straight damage with no external buffs) is roughly 10,300. So it's definitely possible for the job to break 10k. However, aDPS or even pDPS are not the most important metric: rDPS is. Which, if you are Dance Partnering the correct target and using Technical Finish correctly, can bet you 1,600 rDPS or higher.Quote:

Understandably, if you are doing pick-up groups, this can be difficult until you see them in action. Ideally, DNC would benefit the most in terms of rDPS contribution from picking a BLM or a MNK, as they are currently the highest damage dealers right now. However, without a static environment for you to be able to gauge who is consistently the most optimal target, it will take trial and error (and a third-party tool) to determine who would be the best to partner.Quote:

Have you ever played a gacha game and failed to get the one Character you want?
Dancer feels the same, sometimes you just cant get a proc!
Now think back to the Gacha games, most of them have a pity system so after enough fails it just hands you one character over.
So why not add a pity system to our skills? Means with every time a skill fails to grant a proc the % chance increases. once a certain skill procced it resets back to 50% -

I still accidentally overwrite too many procs with Flourish, or fail to use enough of my feathers during TS+Devil, and I'm still getting used to holding for steps instead of letting them drift now that I've got my GCD at 2.48+.Quote:

Can you set your Chocobo as a Dance partner and get any Esprit from it?
While you cant invite a party member once an SSS Trial begins, you can actually summon and have your Chocobo assist you once you're at the dummy in the prep period before the timer kicks off. -

I’ve encountered an issue that
- TF > devilment with almost full espirit and 4 saved feathers plus flourish, lead me to waste the proc on the aoe move because I was too busy to spend gcd on saber dance + unloading 4 those feathers. How do I prioritize?
- Standard step or Technical step take the most priority once it came off cooldown? They will coincide every 2 minutes I think... -

Flourish procs (Rising Windmill is generally used before Devilment to push the others into things like TA, so the priority is usually Fountainfall > Reverse Cascade > Bloodshower. I personally move Bloodshower up if I know that I will have to move out of melee range for a mechanic.)
Feathers can be weaved between the GCDs: prioritize FD3 first in the event FD1 procs FD3 again.
For TF versus SF, I believe you want to prioritize TF first simply because it is a raid buff and you want to make sure it lines up with other raid buffs going out at that time (e.g., Chain Stratagem, Trick Attack; Battle Litany/Battle Voice for 6-minute TF). Always prioritize what is better for the raid as opposed to yourself. Ideally, however, you've offset SF enough that you shouldn't have too many issues with them both coming off CD at the same time. Depending on your GCD and if you had to delay prior SF for things like Saber Dance, they may: but, in that event, I think it's best to prioritize the raid buff over the single target one.
