Current DRG minor annoyance list/QoL requests:

1. Dragonsight: Players really, really, really hate the clunkiness/unintuitive use of this skill. The change to solo mode was great! But using it in a real raid environment always feels terrible. The only way to effectively use it is with macros and macros always feel terrible to use, have issues going off, deaths can cause unintended self casts.... the ability just feels terrible to use! It also leads to having to have multiple macros to use it optimally in party comps where you dont tether the same person everytime... or using a mouseover macro...

2. STD animation is longer than most player's ping can allow at most GCD speeds.

This skill has an animation that is so long players start clipping at around 100 to 120 ping. Which is the entire east coast. We complained constantly about jump's animation lock and you shortened it (thank you!) so why are we going backwards and making such a long animation lock we have to complain about it again?

3. Our buffs for wheeling thrust, fang and claw, and raiden thrust are only 10s when all the GCD combos got lengthened to 15s, this feels like an oversight?

4. Star Diver looks and feel far weaker than it should, and its underwhelming to see like 13k stardiver damage on trash when fully buffed due to fall off.

This skill is nicely animated but it falls flat on the feels department. At level 70 we get 3 nastronds, a nice full life of the dragon mechanic and at 80 we get star diver. It barely hits harder than full thrust and its fall off is weaker than nastrond. For a level 80 skill it just feels underwhelming. It's also incredibly quiet. I couldn't even notice the sound effect until I heard it on a striking dummy without a lot of background noise.

5. Raiden thrust sound effect is too low!!! It's such a pretty ability but it seems much quieter than the rest of out kit?

6. It's nice that our AOE combo extends blood timer, but why doesn't it extend disembowel? It seems like all the other melee have their damage buffs increased in duration by AOE, was this an oversight?

7. High Jump do not have a shorter GCD lock compared to Jump. It's nice that it lets you weave in and out of AOE's faster, but why does it still animation lock you for the same amount of time? It honestly could be short enough to be doubleweaved with only the animation lock changed and the animation staying the same.

8. Some minor complaints I hear frequently are that in an age of direct hit and skills like inner release, can lifesurge guarantee direct hit as well? It feels like it would have more impact even if it isn't that much of a buff.

9. Lance charge icon being blood for blood's icon feels almost... lazy... and underwhelming, and doesn't really fit the idea of a lance charge..?

I agree on all these points! I'd like to heavily emphasise that points 1,2 and 3 are noticeable in not just endgame content but during any activity you might do on Dragoon with these abilities unlocked.

I really like that when I'm doing solo content now, I can use Dragon Sight. But at the same time, it's so much easier to use the solo version of it that there's almost incentive to not tether to someone... I've had multiple Dragoons in my party not use the buff on anyone else because it was way easier to use solo (at least, I assume this is why they did not use it on anyone else). As this game is an MMO, I feel that it should promote team/group play mechanics, and Dragon Sight as is does not seem to do this.

Dragon Sight should not feel 10 times better when I ignore the fact that it can tether someone else.
STD should not hit and feel like a wet noodle for a Final Chorus lookalike.

I have to admit...

If it was just a self buff it would feel a lot better, when I’m in groups I just self it 99% of the time.

If it was made a self buff I don’t know what would happen to our raid viability though

Could Dragonsight automatically tether to the highest DPS in range? Would save a lot of needless clunkyness.

That would make Dragon Sight functionally an in game DPS meter and that is a can of worms no one want to touch.

But more to the matter, I just don't see a need to shoehorn Dragon Sight into a single target tether.

Even the Japanese Dragoon thread has many complaints regarding the tether aspect, including a long running annoyance of being a nuisance during tether mechanics, like Halicarnassus.

The problem would be you lose control of who to tether

I think the easiest fix would realistically be, Make it a self buff but it would have to be balanced after that as dragoon would lose a lot of utility and that’d need a trade off realistically.

You can’t have a job be high mid pack dps with only a nerfed crit buff, it’d likely bench the job.

Dragonsight: It does indeed feel bad to use right now. It breaks the flow of this otherwise comfy job. Not being able to queue macros makes it clunky and macros are kinda required for optimal play.
Being able to self-cast DS was a nice change but I've seen another problem arise because of this: Trust issues. This is especially noticable in Hunts and PuGs right now. "I can not trust this random player to stay alive for the next 20s, therefore I'm just using DS on myself."

Stardiver: Ping is not a problem for me personally but I do hear complaints about this constantly. It's weird that you absolutely have to mash your Stardiver button immediately after a GCD or else it's goint to clip.
It also doesn't feel like the capstone skill it's supposed to be. It barely changed the job mechanics (if at all...) AND doesn't hit as hard as you'd imagine.

Sound: I agree that both Stardiver and Raiden Thrust should have their SFX tuned up a bit.

AoE: Not having the Disembowel buff up permanently for AoE scenarios feels weird. And it's rarely optimal to apply it in the first place due to it being locked behind a second combo step. So I agree that our AoE combo should either extent or directly apply the buff.

High Jump: The skill itself is great, especially the sound effect. Reducing the movement lock was a welcome change but keeping the aniamtion lock the same is strange. It feels like you're just standing there unable to do anything. I also dislike that this QoL improvement is locked until level 74. Going back into synced content and having to use the standard Jump again feels absolutely awful.

Life surge: Life surge feels less and less impactful as time goes on. First with WARs getting guaranteed direct crits all the time, now MCHs Reassemble guarantees a direct crit. What's next?

dragon sight range should be way more , and if the tethered player dies the buff should stay on DRG .

sam , nin , dunno about monk dont gain buffs on AoE rotation just extend the duration

Especially Dragon Sight. Letting us use it without a target is fantastic for solo but does nothing to fix how awkward it is to use in a party.

Well-constructed and reasonable feedback, would kind of like to see the balance folk come in with one of these for all the jobs.

Most of them I personally don't mind much. Would be nice to see them fixed or changed a bit.

The ones i find the most important:

1) yeah Dragon sight is a bit annoying to use. Macros help a whole lot but macros aren't always the most reliable & can bug out or are a bit slow to use so yeah. Would like to see this be a bit easier to use.

3) The combo time should be increased to 15, it really is an oversight.

6) Yes AoE should extend or apply our Disembowel buff.

The only problem with Dragonsight is its range. It should be increased.

I'm not entirely sure how Dance Partner works on DNC, but I feel like the answer to Dragon Sight lies in there somewhere. I used to have a focus target macro, but cut scenes would clear my focus target. I currently use a cast macro but as it has been mentioned macros work like crap in game. I think Dragon Sight needs to have a component where the dragoon marks a party member to receive it on use. Maybe could open up some more options than just being a flat damage buff. Because even using it solo, it's kind of boring that it and Lance Charge just increase damage and nothing else.

Life Surge feels like fluff. It has some survivability to it which has saved me on a few occasions, but overall I'm hitting a button to make another button I hit do more damage, and that button ideally is always Full Thrust. Doesn't need to exist other than to make more buttons for the illusion of skill cap.

Same with Jump and Dive Ready. I feel Mirage Dive is fluff. Jump should just grant gaze directly.

Agree on all these points. And a small claim from me - Chaos Thrust, specifically animation and effects. This skill is great for NIN or SAM, he fits them in style, but absolute does not fit for DRG. I want phlebotomize back...

I kinda miss the stun effect on Spineshatter Dive. Doesn't impact party content too heavily, but it was nice to have a second stun out in the wilds. /pout

I see no reason why we need a timer and an activation button for blood of the dragon at all... It's another quickslot taken up by an ability that could just be a trait.

Jump/High Jump should be replaced by mirage dive upon activation. You can't use one without the other, there is no way for the abilities to overlap, let them take up the same quickslot.

Since we're now in ShB and SE has shown they're still going to use phase transitions that are going to beat our BoTD clock, I really wish they'd give us something to dump dive stacks we're gonna lose on.

Seriously I'd take a pity 10 potency heal. Just SOMETHING so my dive stack doesn't go into the void, that sucks.

If they could fix the delay on Stardiver I'd love them too.

Please please please give us the aoe disembowel refresh. We don't need 2 skills extending the blood/life of the dragon for a 3gcd combo, swapping one to damage boost duration would make so much sense!

Definitely agree on your first and third points.

I agree on your second point but only once you get to the level it increases it to 30 seconds, because at that point ya, it's basically pointless for it to be a skill and should be a trait now, because it will basically always be up no matter what. The only reason I can think of them not doing this, is because it could make it easier to carry mirage dive stacks over into other fights, which is something they might not want.

Bumping for great justice. I know SE said they want to focus on Nin/Sam for 5.1 but please don't leave StD like this until the next expansion or beyond.

Agreed on all but Star Diver needing a potency buff. Personally, I love it for its flexible timing, often saving it for returning from Elusive Jump-out mechanics so long as I won't lose overlap with Lance Charge. My own QoL thread's Dragonsight suggestion isn't a full fix (such won't occur until DS itself is revised), but something like it may mitigate the issue:

I'd also offer that I see no reason for still having BotD take up its own key (especially if we're not going to use it, instead of Geirskogul, to enter LotD), or Jump and its Mirage Dive on separate keys from one another.
