Grade 7 AND grade 8 materia? Oh boi.
Tanks, MCH and SMN getting pretty big reworks...
Wait, I spotted a typo on DRG. It says "Full Thrust" is being removed.
Monk got faster, and Dragoons still got to stare menacingly at their teammates.
White Mage also now smites people rather than stone them.
Senei got nerfed on Samurai. I wonder why. Shoha still not impressive. Cool looking ability you can use maybe once or twice per fight for minuscule gains.
They still have Riddle of Fire and the debuff from Six-Sided Star is pretty baffling. Monks are likely going to be about the same, but better at maintaining GL stacks during phase transitions. Granted, the loss of the old Riddle of Wind makes Tornado Kick kind of dead, since I think you need at least one stack for Anatmen to build.
Shoha seems ridiculously situational compared to any of the other new skills that were introduced, but it might be to compensate for the power of the other stuff SAM got.
Monk's Six-Sided Star will probably get more frequent use because it's practical basically any time you're going to need to be out of melee range for two GCDs.
Coming from Guild Wars 2 where reading the Deadeye patchnotes made me die literally everytime ArenaNet changed it - I dreaded to click on Red Mage...And I am not really believing what I am seeing:
Changes that make the profession better? Nerfs where it makes sense? Removing skillbar clutter by automatically updating skills if ready?
So far, if I am not mistaken:
- They added an AoE version of Veraero and Verthunder and toned down scatter a bit for that.
- They changed Verflare and Verholy so it automatically "updates" Verthunder and Verflare if ready so I can delete my third hotbar (which I only had because of that)?
- Buffs here and there except for Contre Sixte where the periphial targets hit sustain now the same damage
- Red Mana cost have been toned down on some skills, so maybe my red mana can now be spent fully without having a small rest on certain combos
- The TP removal made every weapon skill free (?)
- The mana is now fixed at 10,000. So far, if I compare my previous mana pool (14,400 at this moment with my current equipment) nothing has changed really:
E.g. before the patch, it would cost me 3,3% to cast Verthunder, now it's 4%. Verraise however cost me 25% of my mana, now it's 24%.
- They removed Tether which is kinda sucky but with the other changes forgettable and I could rarely use it (Funny though today I was just mentioning that skill in another thread just to get it removed, oh my!)
This looks good to me. I hope I don't overlook the big elephant in the room here as this happened to 9 years of LoL and 4 years of GW2 when every change created a mess within. Because this seem to much of a reasonable set of changs to me...
I am...speechless...
Sincerely,

WHM is looking pretty good, in all honesty. I do wonder if there was any point in touching Regen/MII durations, but we'll see how that plays out tomorrow I suppose.
I like what I am reading about WHM and DNC. Can’t wait to try them tomorrow
My Rotation for MCH doesn't look like it will need to be reworked too drastically. Just adding in Auto Crossbow and now Bio and some other higher level abilities/actions. However, for the most part ROT-wise it doesn't look like it will work that much differently. Still is about building up the heat.
I think it looks interesting, the challenge in playing it effectively might be welcome to some people...but yeah, it's a class with a much more focused gimmick than others.
Seems like a lot to juggle, especially with the step actions and how they interact with the different dance styles.
DNC is the most RNG heavy class because their normal "combo" has a 50% chance of triggering enhanced versions of their combo moves which in turn have a 50% chance of providing feathers for Fan Dance, which also have a 50% chance of triggering enhanced versions.
It's not really complicated, but it doesn't really have a proper rotation outside of its Flourish burst periods that trigger all of their RNG-based effects simultaneously.
Dancer> I am so ready
Also, is anyone shocked that what is thought to lead into new housing has been postponed? Anyone? Anyone?
Not really.
I'd like to hope the extra time SE is putting into planning out the Ishgard Restoration also includes minimizing the impact the inevitable cheaters are going to have on its ranking system. I've already see those losers gloating about gaming the system with bots in the dark corners of the internet.
Yeah...
I was browsing around to see what kind of people I'm dealing with and the mentality most of them have is honestly sickening.
They act like SE is "forcing" them to bot just because they don't like a particular form of content, not because they actually lack time to do it. They also frequently whine about the shortcomings of the bots despite all the advantages they're already getting from it. In short, they're a bunch of entitled morons who want everything without having to exert any effort.
Though I'm now I'm all the more annoyed that SE is so inept at banning them.
As a BRD main, I'm quite OK with what they did with BRD. It's pretty neat !
I have a problem with Superbolide for Gunbreaker. If you accidentally hit that button, you could basically kill yourself (well not right away). I think SE should change it so that the HP reduction only happens around 20% or no more than 50%.
Once upon a time, back in the Gridania woods, stood a Bard that taught you to be better than Robin Hood. Singing out in the fields gave your allies better steel. Playing on your harp made attacks on your Foes more sharp.
Ever Wandering the nations, cleansing friends of cursed afflictions. Sending out a Refreshing breeze that fit your colleagues' needs. Thinking like a Tactician when it came time to redirect someone’s attention. Putting up a Palissade, a barrier, having your tank be its carrier. Hell descend while executing your enemy with the cool animation of Misery’s End.
But now, harp broken, Bard’s buffs have been stolen. Remaining but its Voice, Troubadour and Minne, in arrows Bard has been gaining. Ignoring its roots, its lore, it has lost its core. Damage as its only element, Bard pursues the exact same journey as its fellow Red residents.
Following in the cold shadow of Dancer, damage dealing's new support answer. Retreating from the light to the shades, with what feels like an unequal trade. Having to push out the shiny new Samba player, while dismantling its predecessor. Still deaf to its own Voice of Battle, Bard will continue to travel. But with everything thus revealed, against strong hostiles, is there a point to pick the bow to wield?
--------------------------------------------------------------------
Very dramatic poetry aside, the Patch Notes confirmed my fear to be true : Bard became a selfish dps so that the shiny new toy becomes the go-to support dps (Dancer will lock a spot, I can guarantee that). Bard is now all over the place as well both gameplay-wise and lore-wise. It looks as if I've just removed my Soul Crystal and evolved into Ranger.
When I first heard of the Soul Gauge, I thought : "oh maybe our buff potency will increase by spending the Soul Gauge". No, it's just....more damage. Soul Gauge augmenting the potency of your fewer buffs would've made the salt taste better, because losing half of your support kit, while new Dancer looks like it's having a blast giving out buffs like candy, is simply insulting. From what I've read now, Bard is just another selfish-er dps, which is counter to it's whole support lore in the Fantasy genre.
Our Role Actions are still mostly useless too. Peloton only helpful for going slightly faster to the next wall of mobs, all status-inflicting attacks don't affect end-game tier, we got a knockback immunity so that's nice. Personally I enjoyed the variety that Troubadour gave, but I can understand its changes, like Misery's End being removed as all other execution skills. To me, Bard did not suffer from Button Bloat like the other classes.
I'm very upset and my confidence for the Final 14 team has diminished even more (after Shirogane Savage, Eureka and BLU). It really does look at times like they do not know what they're doing. I will still be playing the expansion, but I might simply move to another class.
since everyone talks about housing, did they actually ever say we get ishgard housing or do we all just assuming that??
Like the other person said, Shirogane wasn't available immediately. And if you actually mean the Ishgard Reconstruction, that also, Doman Reconstruction, wasn't available until patch 4.3
It was assumed. Do not get your hopes up.
Ishgard Reconstruction seems to be planned for 5.1 although they say it could be later.
From Patch Notes:
* Additional features will be implemented in future updates:
The raid Eden's Gate is scheduled to be released in 5.01.
The treasure hunt instance the Dungeons of Lyhe Ghiah and Eden's Gate (Savage) are scheduled to be released in 5.05.
The Restoration of the Holy See of Ishgard and New Game+ are planned for 5.1 or later.
The Restoration of Ishgard is going to just be ShB's version of the Doman Enclave.
Not exactly like Doman Enclave as they stated it will be server wide, meaning i guess that progress is made my crafters/gatherers and what they contribute.
You will get tokens you could use for stuff
They likely changed it 10,000 because they were using 16-bit values for all MP values, and that causes a scaling issue with level-sync (where a level 1 character might have 100mp and a level 80 character would need >65000MP.) Internally they've always been using % of total MP because everything with a MP-cost always scaled linearly with level. So the end result is really no change, just a cosmetic one. So it's easier to just set MP to 10,000 in the first place, and use the % cost directly. Player guides are all going to have to change though.
They won't need to do it for HP any time soon AFAIK.
I like what they did with pvp for classes i play
Yoshida himslef already stated they will be looking at wards after the release of ShB. So don't expect housing till a later date in the coming months. Also the Ishgard restoration is expected to be a whole completely different crafting end-game not like the Doman Restoration project. They will also be implementing Diadem into it.
