My bet is either the Live Letter (doubt it), or a Dev post when the Benchmark is released
In the past, they have updated the mega thread. I think they will add them after the Benchmark to be honest as MaethusXion said
I'm hoping they include Male Viera and Female Hrothgar info too.
Based on the little scraps we have on Hrothgar lore their name scheme seems to be Norse, based on their queen.
Well, we can make inferences once the benchmark is released (I think).
From what we know of previous incarnations of the Viera, their names likely skew toward Scandinavian. The Hrothgar sound like they use old Norse.
IIRC Au Ra naming conventions were posted like a week before HW launch?
I don't remember exactly how long it was before 3.0, but yeah, we didn't get a huge amount of heads up.
So disappointed they put so much more effort into the Viera... and I'm only here because I'm out of oil from trying to get Scharnhorst in Azur Lane...
Well we have another Live Letter in a couple weeks, so potentially something around then?
We only know one Viera (Fran) and one Hrothgar (Queen Gunhildr). Sadly, it means we can't infer much from Viera and Hroths may be Scandinavian. I think for HW Au Ra naming conventions were given...2 weeks before release?
I meant Viera in XIV :p I do expect the dev team will go for a XII-style naming convention but in XIV, so far, we only know Fran.
Especially since TA/2 was...weirder and didn't seem to have a set naming style for the Viera (Shara keeps the 2 syllables while having 5 letters, Verre and Ruuj are odd because they're named after colors, and Alouette and Valentyne... yeah).
i thought they had the naming conventions on the site. I remember reading something. Like i think for the Viera, they still use J as a Y, and i think both clans use short names, but one clan uses one syllable and the other 2 sylablle. As for the Hrothgar, I think it was regalish names, but The Lost have more umm.. forgotten names, if that makes sense. I tried checking the site to refresh my memory but I couldn't find the races for some reason. weird
I just need the surname conventions, so I can get a name change for my character.
Well, Hrothgar aside, since it would be brand new to my knowledge, the Viera info should be the same as XII, since a good amount of lore is lifted from the Ivalice saga, with only a few minor changes to have it fit into XIVs story. I doubt naming conventions would need to be changed to fit.
I hope they release the naming conventions for both races before early access, so potential nerds like me can burn money on name-changing.
If what the Au Ra got in Heavensward is any indication they should be released a week or two before EA.
13 days still, but I'm starting to get nervous. Hopefully this isn't something they just forgot about. C'mon, I need more than a few days to ponder about a name for my character, I'm the type of person who spends all of the first day of a new game in the character creator. At last we got that in the benchmark.
Already got both my fantasia's ready, Now please hurry and gives us our naming conventions. XD I so want to get my name down before creating my character.
I can’t change my main I have had her as a this since 1.0, but I have a lala alt on Balmung with a Fantasia ready!
Yes names soon please! I would like a chance to get my alt ready ahead of time!
Here I am pacing back and forth slowly losing money. Hoping they put out the list before I can't afford the change.
I'm glad I'm not the only one eagerly waiting for the naming conventions! My nameless Viera is sad; SE, please hurry up ;A;
Au Ra naming conventions were published on the day before Heavensward Early Access, when the servers went down. So I expect you to have to wait till next thursday.

And google seems to indicate this is a Slavic or Greek name...not sure if accurate though :/
If it’s anything like FFXII, the common theme with viera names is that they are all just 4 letters long and the new character from the trailer seems to fit that as well despite being a viis and not a viera.
I really hope they hurry up. I want to do my name changes *before* launch. I've been making plans for my two Viera characters since November, but I still don't even know their names! It's driving me crazy.
Yes, they were.

Quote:
It is estimated that around 80% of Viera are born female. Their physiology; however, only begin to differentiate at around the age of 13 and their puberty. It is at around that age that the male Viera will be taken under the wings of an older male to train in the ways of the Wood-warders.
Clock is ticking on those naming conventions, SE. :|
I'm waiting with so much anticipation for these naming conventions. Mostly cause they give some insight into how each race will speak if they have particular words for things and what not
