Allow chocobos in cities?

After spending far too much time running around Gridania. I wonder if limited mounts in cities would be acceptable.
Just limit it to plain vanilla chocobos. No matter what gear you have on it, it would look just like a brand new one to avoid visual clutter.
Or, just make it so any mount you enter a city on gets turned into a plain chocobo, or something smaller (A Segway?)

I'm sure there's a lore reason behind this. And I'd imagine cleaning chocobo waste off the immaculate white streets of Limsa would be an absolute pain.

Think of it as riding a horse in a crowded city, but on the sidewalk. If something like this were implemented, best be sure people would be asking why they can't have [insert mount here.] as well.

If they did this it should only be chocobos. Rhaglar's reach was bad enough with all the cars everywhere, don't want regular cities with same situation.

I think it could be cool to see /just/ your own chocobo but it might get a bit ugly in places, like imagine walking sands with 49 chocobos out lol. Also if they're out then they'll take your chocobo timer, unless they also turn off the timer too.


Maybe they can design a city in the future with chocobos in mind, where they could be out. Like chocobo paradise :D.

It also has potential to be a loading nightmare for some areas. I mean at the moment places like Limsa have lots of players idling in the lower docks, if we were to see Chocobos out then players might start complaining of it taking too long for the area to load up.

Chocobos are skittish.

Or they could just reduce Sprint cooldown to 0 while in a city. Not like it would matter that much given that aethernet is still the fastest possible way of getting around. Can you think of any important place that isn't aethernet-connected to any other important place, or at least a short sprint away? On top of that, the cast time of mounting up makes mounts less efficient at short distances.

Also, once again, a definite and uncompromising NO to limiting mount selection to just chocobos, anywhere. I collect mounts, some of them worth real money, for a reason and it's not so they could gather dust in a garage somewhere.

I'd rather they just put in a couple more Aetherytes, like when they added the marketplace one to Uldah. Gridania has a couple inconvenient areas to get to.. but most aren't more than a sprint away from any Aetheryte anyway. Mounts in areas with NPC's a lot of people need to access aren't really a good idea. Yes you can tab/controller target them but a lot of people still click on everything and it's already frustrating when people stand on stuff with their giant toon.

Between the Aethernet and Sprint, I can't think of a single place that you can't reach in well under a minute in the city-states. Mounts would save you all of a few seconds while also adding a large amount of clutter.

Thanks but no, since people can keep Chocobo as a follower, I don't want to see chocobos everywhere. There is enough clipping like that.

We should just be able to purchase a rickshaw off of the Mog Station that we can ride in the cities. Kidding, kidding... While I'm 100% okay not having mounts in the cities (especially during high volume events), it would be a nice touch to be able to remain mounted when speaking to NPCs outside of the main cities.

Have you seen the crowds around people for this recent event?

I'm fine without mounts in cities. It was a nightmare in places that really needed them in WoW ... nothing like an NPC or mailbox hidden by 20 people in Mammoth mounts.

If you're that concerned, level an Archer to level 20 and get Peloton - a 30 second sprint with a 5 second cooldown. Then you can change into Archer gear, cast Peloton, and run like crazy to your in-city destination.

Or do what I do -- use Aetherytes and Sprint to get around the city.

And make Limsa Lominsa even more crowded? Are you mad?

There was a pair of shoes that gives infinite sprint in cities, but for whatever reason it was a preorder/delux edition of (I think) 1.0. I sometimes wonder why not make something similar, but make a new model (or models for appearance options) so people who have it don't go ballistic again. (like the White Ravens incident)

Chocobo could be mounted in v1 at the very end, when monsters could spawn in cities (I think it was, don't remember well).

So I'd guess if there is no monster there is no chocobo?

Dunno about those shoes especially as sprint didn't exit in v1.
However there are some shoes from eureka that gives longer sprint in cities.

They did exist! They didn’t affect sprint like they did I. 2.0 but they had a movement speed increase in city-states that was on a cd similar, iirc an obscenely long one. Up until the change to sprint to be a flat 20s and not consume TP they allowed for infinite sprinting in them.

Is rather that they merge the cities into one zone each instead of separate ones. Gridania and Limsa would be easy. Uldah a bit more tricky but not that much.

The time without mount at all was hard haha.

If they did this, I think it should only apply to expansion cities, and only for the previous expansion. So when Shadowbringers comes out, allow mounts in Ishgard and Kugane, but not the 3 ARR cities.
