Isn't it safe to assume more wards have to be added?

I can't get my hands on a house right now no matter what, size, place, whenever one frees up the random timer strikes and a legion of unresponsive zombies with sad faces start spamming the placard. I was hoping this would be the best time to get a house since we are in that moment of the game where a lot of people have left because we are still 3-4 months away from the expansion and almost everyone are done with the SB content. However, even under these circumstances, I can't still get one.
What the hell is going to happen when the Shadowbringers expansion happens and the population increases massively? Isn't it safe to assume that the demand for housing will rise exponentially? Is like SE...really going to do nothing about it? Or am I missing something here.

More wards won’t be enough to give houses to all players interested and there will always people left out.
Let’s just hope instanced housing is introduced to put a smile on all the zombies that you saw and breathe life into them again! :D

We will get a new EU server with Shb. You could go there or hope that enough ppl go there and plots free up.
Ragnarok is one of the fullest EU-Servers.

I don´t think instanced housing will happen.

Maybe we get a new housing ward in ishgard during 5.x

instanced housing is really the only way to assure that EVERYONE has the opportunity to get a house. theres more players than houses. that being said, I like the concept of having neighbors.

Why not both?

Make the plots instanced; Wall them off, have us interact with a gate or the placard to enter the instance. Would actually make the neighborhood feel of housing wards feel more alive; Rather than one or two groups gathering at the nearest Market Board, you'd have far more people. Right now everyone who owns Plot 3 in the Lavender Beds, for example... That's 1 plot spread across 18 wards + subdivisions, those people will rarely, if ever, see each other. Make the plot instanced though? They all gather in the same zone, walk up to the same placard, and enter their own instance. That'll feel far more like a neighborhood than what we currently have, which is pretty much just a dead zone...

I think I saw you or perhaps someone else post this idea elsewhere recently, and I agree 100 percent, it's an instanced solution that keeps the feeling that your actually in a neighborhood, and at the same time increases the likelihood you would see other players in a residential district.

We already have instanced housing. It's called apartments. It does need serious improvement for it to be an attractive option compared to a ward house, though.

Fortunately, just giving players options for apartment size has the potential to shift a lot of the demand away from wards and that should be a relatively simple thing for SE to do since the interior of a house is already instanced.

From there, adding in some sort of patio with exterior view and expanded gardening access would take care of most of the remaining complaints. Something that will never demo and costs a fraction of the gil but still has the same interior space and gardening? I think most players who want housing would be fine with it.

If they can pull off the dynamic exterior view from within an instanced area that they had talked about at one of the FanFests when the balcony question came up in the Q&A, even better.

Yes agree with you so you have an idea there is this guy called Shu in our server and he only owns 32 houses of different sizes all and in the same wards, in Mist it's really unfair we already opened report to warn the gms about it.
Changing subject my husband alt hold a small plot on Mist he wishes to get rid off it's empty he does not wish to keep it anyway so he just waiting for the demolition mail with date and time, if you want can keep you update it too.

That is just for houses. They had already said last year that apartment sizes were possible and they were considering that among other housing changes.

What I'm referring to wouldn't be changing the size of an existing apartment but rather a player being able to choose a specific size when making the purchase.

I figured the article coming after they had said that was perhaps their way of saying "We looked into it, it's not happening". Hopefully you're right, but I would think if they couldn't change the insides of one, they couldn't change insides of the other either considering the housing innards are instanced. It should just be a matter of calling to load a layout and confining the inside to those limits, I wouldn't think upgrading would be an issue either. It always feels like they're doing something really weird when they're coding these things.

So here I am, banging my head onto the wall trying to get one. I must say, this is by far the worst thing they coud've ever done. I don't know how but SE has managed to turn housing into atma except 100 times more annoying and rage inducing. Spam a placard? Have fun losing your sanity when hours keep passing and the same good old message appears "This plot of land if not yet ready for purchase". You are there the entire morning, the entire afternoon (with a few breaks here and there), stay there until around 1am where you go sleep. Wake up at 3am. Still the same 3 shitters spamming the placard but plot is still not ready. Wake up at 5am again, the same 3 guys still going (yeah, totally legit, like, at this point they don't even half pretend they aren't botting). Wake up at 8am. Plot gone.

Wonderful system. In fact, if I struggle and start thinking about what could've been worse than this, I don't feel like anything could ever top it. It's one thing that at this point it has become pretty blatant SE isn't taking action against anyone using bots, which sucks, but is still not entirely insufferable, but a very different thing is that they handle things like housing in a way only these shitters have a chance at it.

i only agree if the ward only being added after the current ward is full, because in my server the goblet is still empty and if they add more ward right now ill never get any neighbour

Its unlikely the number of wards per housing area will be increased again. After the last increase there are many worlds that have kept housing open since then which means there's more supply than demand on a data center scale; some worlds of course still have shortages, there's no disputing that.

Whats more likely is that housing additions will only come from the new housing areas opened with each expansion. Honestly, a new housing ward will give more houses than just adding new wards so its not really a bad deal. Your best chance for a new house is to wait for 5.1 when the new housing is assumed to be released and either get one in the new area or grab an abandoned plot in an old area. Except for places like balmung, I think there will be plenty of houses for everyone at that point.

I just came back like 4 days ago, I mean, I'm in so need of catching up with gear, primals, etc. I can't afford getting stuck staring at a placard like this for 10 hours. I'm most likely going to give up, as much as I want a house, this placard grind is borderline psychotic.

Yes can relate with the frustration feeling and could not stand that whole time in front of the placard tried for 2 hours and my arm and hand would hurt for hitting the placard all minutes, also could not keep my mind focused to click on the placard all minutes during 2 hours.

If you can't find one plot until 18th April 2019 and if you do not mind shared small plot interior/exterior decor would be yours pvt.

Don't think anything new will be added till the new expansion and new housing area.

Possibly, se is also thinking of instanced housing, they did say for ishgard housing to be enabled, ishgard needs to be reconstructed kinda like the doman enclave, only this time disciple of hand and land will make the contributions. So the housing district would be in the instanced reconstructed area.

The housing district is more likely to be just a completely separate district that will be introduced after they give enough time for crafters/gatherers to churn through the reconstruction storyline up to a point they deem appropriate. I'll be extremely surprised if they go a different route with it. What I'm really interested to see is if the district will by snowy or not because Yoshida mentioned things thawing a long time ago. I wonder how many people will still want housing there if there's no snow.

But really, who said this system is much better than what he had? Nothing, and I mean NOTHING could ever be worse than what we have now. Even no houses available or people selling them is still better than this. SE have really outdone themselves with this one. "You can finally get a house now, we finally figured out how! The only requirements are that the player must not sleep and get Carpal Tunnel. But hey, here's the exciting part, even if you end up with both (which you will), there's still no guarante you'll get a house!".

Ok just so you know agree with you there must be other way to let people obtain homes other then this current implemented system, maybe allow in game house market exchange with the SE establishing the house prices min/max and allowing one house to be sold per account.

Sorry to here about your troubles. Sadly RNG was SE attempt to players abusing the system and encouraging RMT use. For those who don't know, in the past players would buy a plot then have players buy the right for the "seller" to relinquish the plot at 5 or even 10 times the purchase price. The only other option I can think of is remove in game rules all together. A player signs up on a waiting list, when an opening happens the GM would contact the player by either in game or email setting up a time and date where they would purchase the land.

The new rules changed nothing on that front. This is still very much happening, the only difference now is that potential buyers must already have a crappy small house to relocate from. The problem with the timers is getting that small in the first place. FC housing sales weren't affected at all.

It's still less of a problem than before since the flippers have a harder time getting a plot themselves and then they're reliant on finding a buyer who already has a house but wants that specific plot.

I keep seeing some people convinced that it will come, but the best i did see is SE saying something like "yes, we know that players want Ishgard to be more alive... yes, we know that players would like to live here..." when talking of the upcoming restoration. Not "yes there will be Ishgard housing in Shadowbringers". Did i miss something or are players hyping themselves too much on some rumors like the dancer being a healer ?

There's nothing but that small clip with the emphasis put on the "live in Ishgard" part that I know of. With the new expansion taking place in a different world, they may have wanted to keep player housing on the source world and the crafter/gatherer rebuilding process being Ishgard instead of something in the new area is probably their means of introducing the reasoning behind Ishgard suddenly having a home for adventurers. It's completely possible they're toying with us, but I do think they knew exactly what and how they were saying that bit on Ishgard.

The Shadowbringers site updated on April 11th. In the section about the restoration of the Holy See it says we will get a new area/ neighborhood/ district depending on the translations (in all but the English translation). (translations courtesy of Google translate)

None of that sounds like adding a housing district to me. It sounds more like just adding a new section to the city, such as a Jeweled Crozier.

It wouldn't make sense for a new district reserved as housing for foreigner adventurers to be embraced as any sort of positive symbol by the residents of Ishgard,

I don't doubt that there is some sort of housing planned. That comment during the NA FanFest was pretty pointed. I just don't think that page on the expac website is referring to it.

I did see that but not even talking of the english one, in the french version of the game the housing zones are always categorized as "résidentiels" ones, like "quartiers résidentiels" or "zones résidentielles", the second word meaning you can live in them. "Quartier" only could very well be adding a common town part like the doman enclave, where most of the reconstruction can be done, and that's it.

I just know that's what people have been using as concrete proof around me. I agree with both of you, as it seemed a bit vague in my opinion, but my opinion seems rather unpopular most places. At some point I just keep my mouth shut while I smile and nod. ;-)

While I sympathize that this whole spamming torture must be awful, I feel like a lot of people here don't understand that the random timers were never meant to be a solution to the housing shortage. The random timer was a solution to house flipping which it sorta did, sorta did not as house flippers can still use relocation.

Whenever someone brings up a lottery system, someone chimes in saying that it won't fix the housing shortage. The random timer wasn't meant to fix the housing shortage and neither is the lottery system. The lottery system is meant to fix the random timer nightmare whilst still preventing house flipping.

I think having people sit there and spam plaquards for hours is a serious issue that needs to be addressed and lottery would help.

As far as housing shortage goes: since the wards have been added, there is no more housing shortage. This problem (including plaquard spamming) only exists on highly congested servers but not the game as a whole. If a house is so important that you would risk your health to get one, why not just transfer (or make an alt on another server)? That is what SE wants you to do. They want the population to be spread because congested servers cause them other issues as well. Additionally, having fewer houses then there is demand creates value in a game economy that is based on artificial supply and demand.

I disagree with this point. Offering housing to all players will create demand on housing items, whether crafted or gained through other ingame means, which will boost the economy and market boards. Fewer houses means demand comes from those limited players who have access to them. It creates “housing demand”, which does nothing to the economy except people being sad and waiting to get a house which doesn’t move gil anywhere

Of course SE wants us to do this. They want to divide up everyone over different data centers and machines to lower costs. However, MMO is about the idea that you can play with, well, masses of people. Essentially going to low population servers is saying "I want to play this game single player". Servers are congested for a reason. People want more people to interact with and do content with and roleplay with, etc. They want friends!

And having fewer houses doesn't help any economy except SE not to have to have more data storage per server. Houses aren't traded by players and they aren't improving the trade between players in any way except carpenters. And it behooves carpenters to have MORE houses, not less.

Companies should cater to what the clients want, not the other way around. When people don't give companies money, they fix systems like this. It's why 1.0 got completely reworked into 2.0. 1.0 wasn't making money.

Even on standard worlds housing sucks to get. They really need to find a solution that can make the most if not all people happy. More wards, better apartments/instanced housing, something rather than this placard spam.

And why is lodestone showing my toon as an au ra? >.>

I get the feeling that SE is waiting for the dust to settle on the data center split and world visit changes to see where everyone ends up and what the supply and demand for housing looks like before they make any plans one way or another. I'm sure they're hoping that these changes will help to balance the world populations and ease the housing crunch a bit. Which... maybe. There still isn't enough housing for all players, obviously. The question is how much they're going to need to meet the demand of players who want it.

Ishgard housing is still up in the air. It's been rather heavily hinted at, so I think it's coming, but it remains to be seen whether or not that's true - and if it is coming, will it be another Shirogane bloodbath?

I really feel for the players suffering through the random timers. I wish we'd at least get a little note from SE that concerns are being heard. The silence is deafening.
